Chapter 6
Porkchops ran through the one block wide hallway, noticing another exit behind him going up. It must lead to the ledge Porkchops had seen.
The alarm shrilled earsplitting screeches. Porkchops felt like his ears would rip off. But he kept going.
He had to get to Steve.
Porkchops ran into a small room. It had a doorway on the opposite side, and the side where Porkchops had come out of. It seemed like someone had been strip mining here and used this room as a base.
Porkchops was about to go into the opposite hallway when Steve's scent got even stronger than it was before. He was scared, but also...
He was close.
In fact, Steve was so close, that he could trip on Porkchops. And that's what he did.
Steve tripped on Porkchops and fell into the room. Porkchops was so happy, he climbed on top of him and started licking his face.
At first, Steve hadn't recognized Porkchops, but as soon as he starting licking him, he realized who it was.
"Porkchops!" Steve exclaimed, pushing the pig off him.
"Steve!" Porkchops squealed happily in pig language.
"How did you get down here?" Steve asked. The alarm stopped.
"That hallway," Porkchops replied, pointing with his head to where he came from.
"Oh jeez, you came all this way to find me?" Steve asked, his emotions smelling touched.
"Not exactly...It's a long story," Porkchops snorted in pig language.
Then an arrow whizzed over Steve's head. He must be getting chased by Mojang Skeletons.
"Get back, Porkchops!" Steve ordered. Porkchops happily obliged, not wanting to get shot with an arrow. He moved back a bit, and Steve filled the doorway with cobblestone.
Then he knelt down in front of Porkchops. "Listen buddy, things are gonna be a little scary from here on out, okay? Just stay close to me, and you'll be safe. I'll protect you," he said, looking into his eyes.
Porkchops squealed an okay. Then Steve said, "Here, take this." He took off his iron helmet that said Mojang, and, ironically, placed it on Porkchops' head. Porkchops didn't say anything about how Good Spider doesn't like Mojang helmets. He decided to let himself have this moment with Steve. Porkchops stared into Steve's eyes.
Steve stood up and yelled, "Lead the way, Porkchops!" Porkchops obeyed, and ran down the way he had come. He heard an explosion behind them, but didn't look back.
Porkchops decided to tell Steve everything when they got out of the ravine. It seemed dangerous at the moment.
They twisted and turned down the many corridors of the strip mine, until finally they reached the intersection. Porkchops ran up the route leading up, and he sensed Steve hesitating.
"Keep going Porkchops! I'll be right there!" Porkchops heard Steve yell. He didn't know where Steve was going, but as long as he would be right there, it was fine. Porkchops snorted "Okay!" without looking back, and kept running up the route leading up.
Up the ten or so blocks, there was another part of the strip mine running lengthwise of the ravine. There was also a doorway leading out onto the ledge. Porkchops was about to go out there, when he heard someone coming down the strip mine. Porkchops ran back down a few steps and watched.
A Skeleton with a gold helmet walked by. He turned and walked out onto the ledge without noticing Porkchops. He must be the leader of the Skeletons, just like that Zombie with the gold helmet Porkchops had seen earlier.
"Well, well, well. What do we have here?" Porkchops heard the Skeleton say. That could only mean one thing. Steve was surrounded in the ravine.
"The intruder. Allow me to introduce myself. The name's Beta. I am the commander of the Skeleton unit for Mojang," the Skeleton said.
Porkchops didn't hear Steve reply. He hoped Steve was okay.
"Ah yes, you see the diary? Does it belong to you? No, of course it doesn't. But, we know it has some useful information about Mojang in it. It'd be a shame if something...happened to it." Beta said.
Porkchops wasn't really sure what that meant, but he figured Beta stole a diary from Steve. Porkchops knew he had to help get it back.
Porkchops heard Steve yell something. Then Beta responded with: "Unfortunately, the name Alpha has been taken by the commander of the Zombie unit. Pretty soon, all the letters of the Greek alphabet will be taken by the Mojang commanders of every type of monster in existence."
Then Porkchops heard Beta say: "You're stalling. Let's get this diary destroyed, so we can get rid of our real target."
At this, Porkchops decided to do something. He'd done it twice before, why not do it again?
He charged out onto the ledge, knocking Beta down into the ravine and sending the diary skittering towards Steve.
Steve was surrounded by Skeletons, just like Porkchops thought. Beta was recovering from the fall, just outside the circle of evil Skeletons.
"What do we have here?" Beta asked, readying a bow and arrow. "Is this your pig?" he asked, looking at Steve.
"Nope," Steve said quickly. "Never seen him before in my life."
This confused Porkchops at first, until he realized Steve must be trying to protect him. But Porkchops knew Steve was the one in need of protecting.
"Really?" Beta asked. "Because it seems to be wearing the exact same helmet you were wearing earlier. Is that not true, fellas?"
The Skeletons surrounding Steve made clattering noises. They seemed to agree with Beta.
Porkchops heard a soft hiss above him. He looked up. Good Spider was clinging to the wall, staring at the pig. Porkchops nodded at him.
"I swear I've never seen that pig before," Steve said. "I lost my helmet in the lava. Maybe this pig is controlled by Mojang too."
Beta laughed. So did all the other Skeletons. "If this infernal pig was controlled by Mojang," Beta said. "Then why did it push me off that ledge?"
Steve was about to reply when Good Spider jumped in front of Beta and made a loud hissing noise. Spiders dropped down into the ravine everywhere.
"Shoo, pests," Beta said. "This is important Mojang business."
Good Spider ignored him and hissed loudly again. The Spiders attacked the Mojang Skeletons. Good Spider battled Beta.
Porkchops watched Steve scoop up the diary and run out of the circle of battling Spiders and Skeletons. He ran out of Porkchops' view.
The Skeletons were fighting back. They were using their arrows as daggers.
Porkchops watched in horror as Beta stabbed Good Spider in the side. Good Spider limped away. Then Beta grabbed a piece of string and shot his arrow out of Porkchops' view. Probably at Steve.
Porkchops looked to the left, and saw Steve. He was on a ledge at the same height as Porkchops, but they were seperated by a six block gap. There was an arrow with a string attached hanging down in front of him.
"Porkchops!" Steve yelled.
"I hear you!" Porkchops squealed back.
"You're going to have to jump! I'll catch you!" Steve called. Porkchops looked at Steve. Is he crazy? he thought.
"C'mon Porkchops! Trust me!" Steve yelled.
Porkchops stared into Steve's eyes. He knew he had to trust him. It was the only way. And, once they got out of here together, Porkchops could tell Steve all about how important Steve is and about his adventures.
Porkchops took a deep breath and backed up about ten blocks. He was going to get a running start. He had to do this.
He had to get to Steve.
Porkchops started running. But, about halfway there, an arrow shot right in front of him. It had a piece of string attached. Porkchops skidded to a stop.
A Skeleton rode his grappling hook up to the ledge, landing in front of Porkchops.
It was Beta.
Before Porkchops could do anything, Beta grabbed him around the neck, forcing him to sit on his rear end. Beta took out an arrow.
He looked at Steve. "Let this pig be an example of what you will become once Mojang is through with you, Steve," Beta said menacingly.
In those few seconds, Porkchops was confused. Weren't monsters supposed to ignore animals? But this wasn't an ordinary monster. He was controlled by Mojang. Mojang was definitely evil.
Porkchops was terrified. He looked at Steve, confident his owner would find a way to rescue Porkchops.
But, without warning, Beta plunged the arrow downwards, right into Porkchops heart.
In his last few seconds of life, Porkchops watched Steve look away, and escape the ravine.
Porkchops wasn't mad at Steve for leaving him. He was just sad.
I didn't get to tell Steve how important he is, Porkchops thought, as his vision faded to black.
