Chapter 6
Third person pov
"Oi, wakey wakey eggs and bakey." Shisui nudged Sasuke with his foot shamelessly. Elliot swatted his arm, his eye twitching. Kakashi stared at Shisui, his eyebrows furrowed and his lips pressed into a thin line. Shisui Uchiha... was alive? Surely that couldn't be right. Itachi had killed him! The man, although he'd been a teen at the time, had even admitted to it. Something wasn't right here. He didn't doubt that this... was Shisui, he just didn't quite understand how the Uchiha was here. Alive.
"Itachi Uchiha killed you, so how're you here?" The Hatake leveled Shisui with a hard gaze. Shisui's eyebrows furrowed with confusion, and Elliot elbowed him harshly, smiling sweetly at Kakashi as though nothing were wrong. She would definitely have some memories to erase later if Shisui happened to screw this up. And knowing him, he probably would. So far he'd already made Sasuke pass out.
Elliot was honestly on the verge of a panic attack. Mildly, she wondered if killing everyone in this room and then herself would somehow fix things. Somehow, she severely doubted it. They'd reached the point of no return, really. There was absolutely no coming back from this. As a time traveler, Elliot hated that.
"Oh, uh... yeah he... yes." Shisui gave at A+ response and a thumbs up. Elliot nearly face palmed, and seemed pretty close to slamming her head against the wall repeatedly. The Uchiha boy looked nervous, sweat beading his brow as his mind worked to come up with something intelligible and believable. It wasn't working for him. "That was a... he was just trying to look cool, so it's... yeah."
"Right." Kakashi's dry response earned him two cringes from the two teens before him. Lucky for them, Sasuke let out a groan of pain before the Hatake could question them further. Shisui and Elliot gave the young boy their undivided attention to avoid confrontation. The Hatake wondered if he'd be arrested for abducting Shisui and interrogating him.
Sasuke let out a groan, his eyes fluttering open almost as though the very action itself were painful. Shisui, Elliot and Kakashi all leaned over him, casting a shadow over his body. He let out yet another groan, squinting at Shisui while he processed. The older Uchiha grinned a wide, shameless grin down at his disoriented cousin, clearly amused. Elliot rolled her eyes. Of course Shisui'd be amused. He was Shisui! This was fine. They weren't, you know, possibly ripping a hole in the space time continuum or anything.
Sasuke's entire body stiffened, and he blinked several times as though trying to get an illusion to dispel itself. Shisui's grin widened at this. Sasuke was such an amusing kid when he was younger. Shisui didn't doubt he was still that way today, even if he was a bit rougher around the edges nowadays. Soon, he'd be happy. He'd know the truth about Itachi, and everything would be alright. And they'd kill Danzo. And maybe some other bad guys. It depended on the mood, really.
"S...Shisui?" Sasuke gasped, jolting up into a sitting position. His hands went up to his head. Elliot was sure it was pounding. God, they'd fucked this all up. Shisui was an idiot. Sasuke would only sustain more brain damage from this.
"Yeah, that's me, kid." Shisui said in an almost proud sort of way. "I'm back from the not-actually-dead dead, so worry no more!"
Sasuke stared at him with wide eyes and an open mouth. If only Elliot had a photo. Such an expression, captured and preserved, would make for excellent black mail. And Itachi would probably pay a fortune just fora copy. "But... How?" Sasuke finally croaked. Elliot scoffed, and Shisui paused.
"Um," Elliot waved a hand in front of his face, gaining his attention, "you're welcome."
"Yeah, Elliot pulled me from the rapids with the strength of ten men." He applauded, earning himself and eye roll and what sounded like a scoff. Elliot felt like she was PMSing, only she wasn't on her period, and she had an actual, logical reason to be distraught in this instance. The Hokage spoke up before Elliot could decide to snap her own neck and end it all.
"Sasuke, Shisui Uchiha truly is back. Your cousin. He's in need of a place to stay, and so is his dear friend." The Hokage stressed in a way that was way, way too over-dramatic. Elliot once again wanted to slam her face into a wall. Kakashi's eyes narrowed. Something wasn't right. He'd seen that kid before. "This is your family, Sasuke."
"He's... Alive?" Sasuke asked in a slight daze. Shisui let out a large sigh, one full of exasperation and pity. He reached down and pulled the wobbly Sasuke to his feet, hugging him without warning. Elliot almost laughed at the look on poor Sasuke's face. She couldn't tell if he was awed, disgusted, shocked, or a mixture of the three.
"Look, I'm here. All warm and fuzzy, with a beating heart and a Sharingan. I'm just that awesome." He assured Sasuke, patting his back a few times.
Slowly, Sasuke raised his arms, hugging Shisui back softly at first. Clearly, this action was foreign to him now. After years of isolation and loneliness, he was finally getting some human interaction. It was just what he needed right now. It felt so good to hug Shisui. He was so... Familiar. He remembered hanging out with Shisui. Shisui had been a good guy. A bit of a jokester compared to most Uchiha, but... but nice.
Before Sasuke knew it, he was hugging Shisui as hard as he could, sobbing. And nobody stopped him either.
