Chapter 3
Elliot's pov
The Hokage tower, like most buildings, had a back entrance. It wasn't used much, which is a good thing in our case. "Come on, Shisui. It's that blue door there." I nodded to it, carefully keeping my voice quiet. This is the Hokage's tower. I'm not dumb enough to think there aren't any ANBU lurking about. I would suggest Shisui use the transformation jutsu, but someone would notice he had it on. The risk is too great.
"Alright, what're we waiting for?" The boy grinned in response, grabbing my hand and pulling me along. We darted for the entrance, opening the door and sliding into the air conditioned building as quickly and quietly as we could. Immediately, we were hit by a cold, refreshing rush of air, as well as the faint smell of paper and ink.
"I don't think anyone noticed." I noted, so quietly I'm sure he barely heard. He gave a small nod, his grin confident.
Shisui is an ANBU, or he was before I brought him here. He's a powerful ninja; the well renowned Flash Step Shisui. He was definitely going to be recognizable to some, especially to any history nuts. "There's no way we get to the stairwell without being seen." I peered across the bustling room. It's absolutely massive, and full of ninja. Nobody is going to just let two strangers waltz up to see the Hokage.
"I have an idea, but it's risky." Shisui looked down at me.
"This whole thing is risky." I rolled my eyes.
"Fair point. Well, if you grab onto me, I think I can flicker us both over there." He shrugged. I raised an eyebrow. The chances of this killing us are very high.
"I don't... think that will work. Can you even do other people?" I checked.
"I don't know. I've never tried."
"Well, they don't know who I am. You body flicker and I'll walk." I told him, cracking my knuckles. Shisui's eyebrows shot up in question. I glanced around. Still, nobody has seen us. I do suppose this is considered a peaceful timeline... excusing all the shit going on in the shadows.
"Are you sure? You've got to be in every history book ever by now." He makes a fair point.
"I mean, I may have photo bombed a few photos." I coughed a little.
"Exactly." He grinned widely, grabbing my arm. "Hold on tight!"
"Fine, do the flicker thing. If we're caught, it's your fault." I told him. I wouldn't be surprised if Danzo already had eyes on us. He has his ROOT guys all over the place. I sighed as Shisui's hand wrapped around mine. I wrapped mine right on back.
"Oh, I didn't know you wanted me this badly." He teased.
"You asked for it." I reminded.
"Touché." He agreed, bringing his free hand up to make the sign needed to activate it. In an instant, we were being sucked through the air and towards the staircase. I blinked, and we were there. My stomach did a dangerous clip. I let go of Shisui immediately, my eyes wide.
"That was weird." I whispered.
"It felt weird having someone else with me, but at least it worked." He said, already beginning up the staircase. I scrambled after him, cursing my shorter legs. Why are Uchiha so tall? Is that just a thing or what?
"Yeah." I said. "That was way, way too risky. We've only been here like five minutes."
"That's why we did it." He grinned back.
"Speak for yourself. I just want to sit back and watch the world burn." I grumbled. And that's exactly what I used to do. And I'd even write it down and take photos. Honestly, Shisui could get his head severed right this very second and I probably wouldn't do anymore more than flinch. And maybe I'd have the urge to write down the exact time.
"Well, I'm forcing you to care. Besides, who could say no to this face." He grinned at me. I stared at him blankly for a few seconds, momentarily wondering how a singular person could have so few brain cells and still be alive. Honestly, it's a mystery even unto myself, which is saying something.
"...You're a dumbass." I finally said.
"I know, but that's why you love me." He sighed happily, offering a cheeky grin to me as we continued up the steps. I snorted at him in response.
There were a few times when we had to slow down and walk normally when we heard someone else approaching. Shisui kept his head facing away, and I tried to look as bored as humanely possible. Most people didn't even spare us a glance, or they'd take one look at Shisui's headband and move on. It seemed the lobby was the hardest obstacle to getting to the Hokage's office. Besides the ANBU he most definitely has guarding him.
They should at least let us knock, even if they do recognize Shisui. If not, I'll just scream so loud the Hokage hears and comes out to investigate. I don't think there's a safe way to turn back no, so I may as well try to go through with Shisui's half-assed plan.
"There." Shisui pointed to a door that was slightly larger than the rest. I immediately recognized it to be the entrance to the Hokage's office. I took a deep breath to steady myself. I'm going to be absolutely murdered for this. I've already changed so much just by being here. Just by crashing here, even.
"We made it this far." I sighed.
"Hell yeah we did." He grinned at me, holding up his fist. I stared at him for a moment before offering a half smile and bumping my own fist against his own. He seemed excited by this.
"Alright, let's do this." He strode towards the door confidently, me trailing anxiously behind him.
"Please let me do the talking." I requested as he knocked.
"Why? Don't have faith in my social skills?" He pouted.
"No, I don't. Let me do it or I'm throwing you out the window." I said bluntly. He held up his hands in surrender, but he was still grinning. He's got to be the most un-Uchiha Uchiha I've ever seen, and I've observed younger Obito several times. Even he was more of an Uchiha than this damn oaf.
"Come in!"
