Chapter 5 Stowaway [L]
Evynne felt as if she was punched in the stomach. She felt tears stinging her eyes, this couldn't be happening. It was too soon, she had no time.
"Please..take me home." She choked out.
"Are you alright?" James asked.
Evynne knew, she had to think quickly and she had to get home to do so, and she had to keep up with this act for as long as she could. She took James' hand in hers.
"I can just hardly wait, my Prince." She smiled through the tears welling up in her eyes. "I want to go home and begin preparing for our journey back to your kingdom! Let's hurry." She said and started pulling him along with her to the carriage.

Once back at the palace and in her room, Evynne paced the floor anxiously. She just couldn't fathom the thought of marrying that Prince. Especially now that it was happening so much sooner than she intended on. She was furious with her father, no one had included her in this decision. No one asked her, if she even wanted this to begin with. Since the day she was born all of her choices had been made for her and she was beyond tired of it.
Evynne looked at the rose on her writing desk that Killian had brought her last night, and then she decided to do something incredibly insane, even for her. She hurried across the room and picked up her satchel and began throwing things she thought she might need in it.
"Evynne, what are you doing?" Rebecca asked as she came into the room. Rebecca was possibly the only person in this palace who would understand and if she was going to pull this off it couldn't be on her own.
"I can't marry him." Evynne said. "I can't marry that repulsive Prince!"
Rebecca took a moment to look around, at what Evynne was doing.
"So you are trying to leave then?" She asked.
"I'm sorry Rebecca but I can't stay. I don't love him. I love someone else!"
"It wouldn't happen to be the Pirate who snuck in here last night..would it?" Rebecca asked.
"You..knew?" Evynne asked and sat down trying to collect herself.
"Garrison does well to keep an eye on you, but what he doesn't notice, I do." Rebecca winked.
"Please tell me.. You haven't told anyone. He'll be hanged!" Evynne exclaimed.
"I haven't said a word. And I won't..at least long enough to give you, and your pirate a head start."
"You're going to let me go?" Evynne asked and wiped tears from her eyes.
"I wouldn't be able to stop you if I tried Evynne dear, no one would. I made your mother a promise, that I would see to your happiness, and not helping you right now, would break that promise."
Evynne stood up and threw her arms around Rebecca. "Thank you..so much."
Rebecca smiled and held her at shoulders length to get a good look at her for possibly the last time.
"You have to hurry, love. I can only stall them for so long, I was supposed to be bringing you to dinner. Go out through the Garden and I'll round up your fathers men and keep them out of the way. See the world for me Evie." Rebecca smiled and placed her hand on the Princess' cheek. Evynne placed her hand over Rebecca's and smiled. She would miss this woman, perhaps most of all.
"Hurry." Rebecca repeated and backed away to leave the room.
Evynne threw the rest of what she needed in her satchel and put on her cloak, lifting the hood over her head she quietly made her way out of the room and towards the secret tunnel system that lead to her mother's Garden.
Once in the Garden she gave the flowers one last look.
"I love you mother. I know you would understand this more than papa thinks." She said softly and picked a small purple flower and tucked it into her hair to bring a piece of her mother with her.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
She made it into town, without too much of a bump. She did almost run straight into Garrison as she was leaving the palace grounds, but one of the other men alerted him to some sort of trouble, likely Rebecca's plan to keep them distracted.
Evynne hurried along the cobblestone road until she made it to the Tavern just outside of the port. She peeked through the window at Killian and his men having a drink and a laugh. She wanted to go inside, but she wasn't sure if Killian would go along with her plan. She would just have to surprise him. She quietly walked over to the docks and sighed as she saw two of Killian's men standing guard in front of the gangplank to the Jolly Roger. The point of the plan was not to let Killian know she was there until absolutely necessary but these two would hinder those plans.
It was then, that Billy the cabin boy strolled by her whistling.
"Billy!" She whispered. Billy looked around and then set his eyes on her and gasped but Evynne put her hand over his mouth before he spoke.
"Shh. I'm trying to surprise the Captain. Can you help me?" she asked and took her hand off of the boys mouth.
"The Captain doesn't like surprises, ma'am." Billy said and shook his head. "He would be angry."
"I can assure you, that he will not be angry with you." She smiled at the boy. "I need to get on the ship, and no one can know that I am there, until I make myself known."
"I don't know.." Billy sighed and looked down at his hands. "Captain is nice to me, I'd hate to be on his bad side."
"Billy, you listen to me. I will not let anything happen to you, If the Captain is going to be upset with anyone it will be me. Not you. I will see to it." She said and reached into her satchel and retrieved two gold coins.
"If you can help me with this, these will be yours and next time this ship makes port you can spend them on whatever you like." Evynne smiled. Billy's eyes widened at the coins and he nodded.
"Okay. I'll do it. What do I need to do first?" He asked.
"I need you to distract those two can you do that?" Evynne asked and pointed to the men standing watch of the Jolly Roger.
"Carter and Eli? They're morons, it will be easy." Billy grinned and tucked the coins into his pocket and hurried over to the men pointing wildly in the opposite direction and shouting something that Evynne couldn't quite make out but it worked, the men took off. Evynne giggled and hurried over to the gang plank and ruffled Billy's hair.
"Good boy." She said "When is the Captain planning on leaving tonight?" She asked.
"In an hours time ma'am. Good luck!" He smiled.
"Thank you." Evynne said and walked onto the ship. She knew that they weren't out of immediate danger yet, but the feeling of relief washing over her was amazing. She wasn't going to be forced to marry that Prince.
Evynne looked around the ship and walked up to the helm and ran her hand over the wheel and smiled. She stepped down, and went down a set of steps directly across from the helm. There were a couple doors. One of them had small a metal ship wheel nailed into the door and she knew this was the Captains quarters, because she had been on this ship before the first time she met Killian. Evynne bit her lip and smirked at the memory as she put her hand on the knob and twisted but it was locked. Of course it was. She opened her satchel yet again retrieving a small lock pick. This was something she had practiced, in case Killian had been caught and she had to spring him from the dungeons.
It took a little bit of time, and a lot more effort than she thought it would, but she had finally managed to pick the lock, apparently just in time as she heard Killian and his men walking up the gangplank. She gasped and hurried into the room and shut the door, locking it. She then looked around the room for a place to hide until they were at sea, and too far away from her kingdom for Killian to make her go back.
She carefully opened the wardrobe, remembering from her last time here that it squeaked when opened and climbed inside shutting the door. In case anyone were to come in the room before hand she would be hidden. Evynne grinned as she heard Killian shouting orders at his crew. How she loved that commanding tone of his that left no room for argument.
Evynne couldn't have prepared herself for hour she spent cramped inside that bloody wardrobe before the ship finally began moving. She knew Killian would be busy on deck so she stepped out of the wardrobe and looked out the window in the quarters at her kingdom getting further and further away. She wondered what was going on back at the palace, surely they were just finding out that she was gone. Evynne stretched her limbs as she walked around the quarters eyeing the maps on the walls, and the writing desk, her eyes scanned over the jewels and collections from places all over the world. A world that she would finally be seeing, if she could stomach it. She put her hand over her stomach as a sudden twinge of nausea hit her when the ship tilted ever so slightly and sat down at Killians table hoping that would help. She couldn't be sick, she couldn't make any noise until they were too far to turn around.
Evynne busied herself with Killian's collection of books for the next couple hours. She looked out the window again and her kingdom was nowhere to be seen. She grinned but that grin quickly faded as she heard footsteps towards the door to the quarters. She wasn't sure if Killian would be angry with her, or happy to see her. She heard Billy outside the door trying to distract him from entering.
"Lad, I am tired, I need a break, go bother Mr. Smee with your shenanigans." Killian mumbled and the lock on the door clicked. The door was pushed open and Killian walked into his quarters. Evynne tried to act as casually as she could. She plucked a piece of fruit from the platter on the table and put it into her mouth. Killian took off his leather duster and placed it over the chair in the room and then he finally turned to the table where Evynne was sitting. His eyes widened and Billy cringed and backed out of the room to avoid being yelled at.
"Hello Captain." Evynne smiled and popped another piece of fruit into her mouth.
