Months later
Killian rolled over in bed and reached for Evynne. He patted the empty spot on the bed next to him and lifted him and lifted his head groggily.
"Ev?" He mumbled, blinking a couple of times until the fog over his sleepy eyes cleared. He peered around the dark room and sighed.
Again with this. He thought. This was the third time in two weeks, he'd woken up and Evynne was not in bed. She'd been restless at night. When she would sleep, he'd wake to her tossing and turning, talking in her sleep and when he'd ask her about it, she'd shut him down.
Evynne wasn't one for holding back her feelings, so this concerned him.
Killian swung his legs around the side of the bed and stood up and dressed himself to go out on deck. It was much colder at night now, so he worried with as much time as Evynne spent up top these nights, she would get sick and without a proper doctor on board that could be rough. Killian plucked his leather duster off of the chair it was laid over, for Evynne, not for him and carried it with him up the stairs onto the main deck.
He heard a repetitive thwack sound the closer he got to the forecastle deck. It was the sound of wood hitting wood. He watched Evynne aggressively striking a practice dummy he'd rigged up for Billy when Billy was first learning to use a sword. She held the wooden sword so tightly her knuckles were white. The form he'd taught her, was lost at the moment.
"Evynne what the bloody hell are you doing out here?" He asked.
"What. Does. It. Look. Like?" She huffed punctuating every word with a blow to the wooden dummy.
"Couldn't tell you love. Tis why I asked." Killian said. "Have I done something to upset you?"
"No. Why would you think that?" Evynne asked and knocked the head of the dummy off. Killian watched it roll across the deck to his feet.
"No particular reason I suppose..." He muttered under his breath and then looked up at her as she picked up the head and attempted to reattach it.
"Are you sure Evynne?" Killian asked.
"Yes, Killian. I'm sure." Evynne sighed as she fought with the rounded piece of wood before growling and throwing it overboard.
"Okay then...enlighten me. Who..or what are you upset with?" Killian asked.
"It's nothing." Evynne shrugged and went back to hitting the base of the practice dummy. She looked over her shoulder at Killian.
"You should go back to bed, you look tired."
"As do you." Killian said.
"I'm fine." Evynne said though it was clearly a lie. Her eyes were darkened with exhaustion, and she was running out of breath as swung the wooden sword around with no form whatsoever.
"Enough of this Evynne." Killian said. "Come back to bed."
"I will in a bit."
"Last time you said that, I came back at sun up and you were still out here so don't give me that shit." Killian barked. Evynne stopped and looked at him and scoffed.
"Now who's mad at who?" She accused.
Killian pinched the bridge of his nose and tried to keep his temper in check but she was grating at his last exhausted nerve.
"I'm not bloody mad at you Evynne! I'm frustrated. For two bloody weeks you've done this. You won't sleep, and when you do its broken and you wake up crying and don't you tell me you're not because I've heard you! Everytime I try and ask you about it you shut down completely. You won't talk to me. I can't help you if you don't tell me how love. Please!" Killian practically begged her.
"I'm just trying to be prepared, Killian." Evynne sighed.
"Prepared? For what?" Killian asked.
"Everything to go wrong." Evynne muttered and tossed the wooden sword aside before walking to the side of the ship and watching the small waves rolling by.
"What on earth do you mean Evie?" Killian asked and joined her at the side of the ship. Evynne swallowed thickly.
"I love you Killian." She said.
"I love you too Evynne but you're scaring me. What do you mean you're preparing for everything to go wrong?"
Evynne shook her head and her eyes watered over.
"Everything is going so well Killian. So something is going to go wrong, that's how my life has always worked. My father..my mother and I... we were happy. Everything was wonderful and then suddenly she was taken from us. My father hasn't been the same since and I had this dark cloud following me everywhere it seemed, and then you came along and finally there was light in my life again. My father tried to snuff it out by forcing me to marry some pompous prince because if he was miserable, I might as well be too right? So I ran away to be with you and now that we are here, and we are happy I'm scared to death that you'll be taken from me too. It's only a matter of time." Evynne let out a strangled sob and turned away from him.
"Everynight I have the same dream. Garrison storms the ship with my father's entire guard. We can't fight them, there's too many so we have no choice but to surrender. The dream always ends the same and it's just easier for me to not sleep, than to see a noose around your neck night after bloody night." Evynne weeped.
"But you have to know Evynne, that's all they are. They're only dreams. We are so so far away from your kingdom, we're practically on the other side of the world my love. They won't be finding us anytime soon and if you spend your life waiting for that moment to happen, you're wasting it. The longer you dwell on it, the longer the dreams will last." Killian said and pulled her close putting his hand on her cheek, wiping away tears.
"Are you not afraid?" Evynne asked.
"I am. I'd be lying if I told you I didn't have dreams like those but when I wake up, and I see you next to me and I can reach out and touch you it makes it better."
"I feel so selfish Killian. If I had just married that stupid Prince your life would not be at risk."
"If you would have married that prince, I guarantee you my life would still very much be at risk. Nothing was going to stop us from being together Evynne. Though it certainly is easier, not having to sneak around a husband." Killian winked. Evynne shook her head and gave him a small laugh before pressing her forehead to his chest.
"I'm sorry I've been so distant lately..and that I've kept you awake." She mumbled.
"It's okay. I'm just happy you've finally told me what's bothering you so we can move past it."
"I just get in my own head sometimes Killian." Evynne sighed.
"Well..next time let me in with you."
"Its not such a nice place up there sometimes love." Evynne frowned and looked away.
"Hey..." Killian said and moved his thumb to her chin and moved her head so she was looking at him again.
"If anyone knows being in a dark place, its me. If anything I can help you find your way around." He smiled, his eyes were full of patience and understanding and she had no idea how'd she'd come so far in life without him. She gave him a small smile and a nod.
"Come, lets go back to bed." Killian said and led her back to their shared quarters.
----------------------------------------------------------
"How much longer do I have to practice with this stupid thing?" Evynne grumbled as she blocked Killian's advantage with the wooden sword that had clearly seen better days.
"Billy's busy why can't I use his?"
"Because his was made for his size, Its got a different weight to it, than one for you would have." Killian said.
"And practicing with this piece of driftwood is doing me any good how?" Evynne snarked.
"Well its doing absolutely no good for your attitude." Killian smirked.
"Very little does Captain." Evynne said.
"I know of a couple things that I find very efficient when it comes to adjusting your attitude Princess."
Evynne's breath hitched in her throat and she slipped up her footing and found the point of his sword at the hollow of her throat.
"My you are easily distracted." Killian chuckled.
Evynne gripped the wooden sword in her hand and smacked him in the knee with it.
"Ow!" Killian groaned.
"Huh. I guess this thing is good for something besides bloody splinters." Evynne shrugged and tossed the sword aside and went to work plucking said splinters from the palm of her hand.
Killian put his sword back in the sheath on his belt.
"I suppose we are done for the day then?" He said.
"I guess so." Evynne nodded and cursed a particularly stubborn splinter.
"Captain we're almost there!" Billy shouted as he hurried over to the pair.
"Almost where?" Evynne asked.
"We're making port at a small town for a few days. Theres some nasty winter weather coming and I'd like to be somewhere warmer for a couple days. Theres a nice Inn." Evynne thought that sounded nice. She loved the ship, but getting off of it for a couple of days, and sleeping somewhere warmer sounded great.
"Tell her about the blacksmith and his wife!" Billy urged.
"Blacksmith?" Evynne questioned.
Killian looked down at the boy and chuckled.
"Last time we were here Billy was getting his sword. It was supposed to be a surprise, but I'd planned on commissioning one for you while we're here."
Evynne grinned. "Finally!"
"Aye. Finally." Killian smirked. "Last time we were there, Billy made fast friends with their boy. He's a couple years younger. I'm sure the lad is just excited to see his friend."
"Oh how nice." Evynne smiled.
"And the Blacksmith's wife runs and cooks for the Inn. Her food is the best!" Billy beamed.
"Easy lad, don't let Shaw hear you, or you'll end up with Cold stew again." Killian smirked.
Evynne chuckled at the boy's excitement.
"It sounds lovely Billy. I can't wait to meet them." She smiled. "Or get my own sword so I don't have to pull splinters out of my hands every evening."
"I am a little worried that putting an actual sword in your hands might be the death of me, you do tend to like to hit me with the wooden one." Killian said.
"Got any other hooks lying around You might be needing one for the other hand." Evynne sassed.
"I'm sure I could find another attachment you'd rather have." Killian said and raised his eyebrows. Evynne gasped and put her hands over Billy's ears.
"Killian!" She hissed.
"The boy hears worse than that sleeping in the crew quarters I'm sure." Killian laughed.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Evynne looked up at the sky as they walked down the gangplank and onto the docks. Tiny flakes of snow were already beginning to fall. Evynne loved this time of year she always found snow beautiful.
Billy ran ahead of the rest of the crew.
"Billy!" Killian called. Billy turned around.
"Yes Captain?"
"Take Evynne to see our blacksmith friend while I secure our rooms at the Inn."
"Aye!" Billy shouted and ran back to grab Evynne's hand and pull her along.
"I'll be there shortly, love." Killian chuckled as Billy pulled her away with him.
"Its not too far from here. Captain will likely meet us there shortly after we get there." Billy said.
"You are really excited to be back here." Evynne observed.
"I liked it a lot last time we were here." Billy shrugged it off as it was nothing but Evynne could tell there was something else going on here.
"Billy..are you happy on the ship?" She asked.
"Of course I am." Billy nodded. "Everyone treats me like family you especially, you remind me a lot of me mum. She used to nag at me to be careful all the time too." Billy chuckled.
"Well thanks." Evynne scoffed.
"I meant it to be nice Miss Evynne. I am happy. I love my ship family..."
"But?" Evynne pressed.
Billy sighed.
"Sometimes its nice to actually be in a house..you know? With a mum and a dad and Eric, he was like having a little brother when we were here last time! I'd always wanted a younger sibling but mum said I was too much for her." He smiled at the memory of his mother.
"And don't get me wrong, Mr. Shaw can cook. But no one does it like a mother." Billy shrugged.
Evynne frowned. She loved this little boy she'd come to know, and while he said he was happy, it did make her sad that he longed for a more cozy home setting. What child wouldn't?
"Its silly.. But sometimes I wonder if Captain would ever settle down in a little house It could be us three...and well Maybe Mr. Smee because he'd be lonely." Billy added. "Not that.. I'd expect Captain to take me in he's already done so much for me."
"Its not silly, Billy. I understand. I miss the way things used to be back home. When my mum was there my father wasn't so..cold and some nights, instead of the palace cooks cooking, my mother would cook the most delicious foods and they always seemed to taste better because she made them. I miss certain things and perhaps the idea of the Captain settling down isn't too far fetched."
"He'd never give up life on the sea Miss Evynne, he loves it too much." Billy chuckled. "And that's okay. While its nice to be in a place like this every now and then, home isn't really a place. Its where the people you love are." Billy shrugged.
"You're a very smart boy Billy." Evynne smiled and ruffled his hair.
"We're here." Billy said as they stopped in front of a house. "This is their house, the workshop is out back."
It was a lovely little home but Evynne's eyes instantly went to the flower's out front by the steps to the house. She felt a small pang in her heart as she looked at them. They were blue iris' these were her mothers favorite flower. She had them in her winter gardens as far as the eye could see. The scent from the flowers made her eyes water and she shook back the tears.
"Ma'am?" She heard. She looked up. Billy had already knocked on the door. There was a man standing on the steps looking at her. "Are you alright?" He asked.
Evynne nodded.
"Yes... Sorry I was just admiring the flowers." She smiled.
"My wife would be happy to hear it, she loves her gardens perhaps more than me." The man chuckled. "If you'd like to come in, We can talk about this sword Billy tells me you're needing."
"Oh. Wonderful." Evynne nodded and stepped up the porch and inside.
The second she stepped inside, there was a scent in the house that was very familiar to her, but she couldn't quite place it. She watched as Billy, and a little boy with light brown hair and green eyes ran past them laughing.
"Eric easy lad!" The man scolded him.
"Oh, its okay they're playing. Billys been stuck on a ship for months he's excited."
The man smiled and extended his hand.
"I'm Emmet."
"Evynne." Evynne smiled and put her hand in his. "I'm afraid I don't know much about what I'm looking for, Killian..The Captain, he'd know more than I would. We could wait."
"Sounds like a good plan to me." He said and the two heard foot steps outside.
"I Think that's my wife now, I'll introduce you to her and then the Captain should be here." He smiled.
Evynne nodded. The door opened.
"Hello Leanna." Emmett greeted his wife. Evynne froze in place at the name. It couldn't be.
"Hello love, Our favorite customers are in town again They've just gotten rooms at the Inn for a few nights." The woman said as she walked into the house.
Evynne felt a chill go up her spine as the woman spoke. It was a voice, she hadn't heard in so long. She turned her head to look, and felt like she would faint. The woman turned her identical sea green eyes on her and they widened.
"Mother?" Evynne squeaked.
"Evynne.. Evynne darling is that really you?" Her mother asked. Evynne felt like she couldn't breathe. The only thing she knew was her mother was taken from the kingdom and she had no idea what was going on here. She hurried to a sword displayed on the wall and picked it up pointing it at Emmet.
"Evynne what are you doing??" Leanna demanded.
"You! You took her!" Evynne shrieked.
Emmet put his hands up.
"Easy lass... I thought you looked familiar. You likely don't remember me."
"Can't say that I do." Evynne growled.
Killian was just outside the blacksmiths home when he heard a commotion inside. Knowing Evynne and Billy were inside he hurried in, not at all expecting to see Evynne with a sword pointed at the blacksmith.
"Evynne love what are you doing??" Killian asked.
"Love??" Leanna asked and put her hands on her hips looking at Killian.
"Mother.. Run." Evynne said turning to look at her mother.
"Mother??" Killian asked looking to Leanna.
"Evie..sweetheart put the sword down." Leanna said. "Emmet.. He didn't take me. I'm not in danger."
"Mummy?" A small voice said as the two boys entered the room.
"Miss Evynne what are you doing?" Billy asked.
"Mummy!" The younger boy ran to Leanna clearly afraid of Evynne.
"Its alright Eric." Leanna smiled down at the boy.
"Mummy?" Evynne asked and looked at Emmet and then at her mother and...her little brother? Killian walked over and took the sword from Evynne's hand before she hurt someone.
"Clearly.. Something..strange but explainable is going on here." He said to Evynne.
"Indeed." Leanna said raising her eyebrow at Killian.
"I..I'm sorry I'm confused." Evynne said. "Father he said you were taken."
"I'm sure he did Evynne. He didn't want it known what truly happened." Leanna sighed. "Please.. Just sit down I'll make some tea."
"No.. I don't want to sit down and I don't want any tea! What do you mean he didn't want it known?!" Evynne demanded.
"Evynne, you may not remember Emmet, but he was a gardener at the palace." Leanna started.
"Oh bloody hell.." Killian mumbled.
"I never loved your father Evynne its important you know this. I was promised to him when I was 16 it was never my choice."
Evynne's eyes welled over with tears.
"I loved Emmet, When I found out I was with child.. And it wasn't your fathers I had to leave. Your father was gracious enough to let me go but he would not allow me to take you. Gods Evynne it killed me to leave you there." Leanna said her eyes welled over as well.
"Then you shouldn't have bloody left!" Evynne cried.
This was heartbreaking for Killian to watch, he too had been abandoned by a parent and he knew the pain.
"Evynne please." Leanna said and reached out. Evynne slapped her hand away.
"Don't bloody touch me." She spat and stormed out of the house.
Killian sighed and shook his head.
"How on earth did she end up with you?" Leanna asked. "Alexander would have never allowed this."
"He didn't. She ran away to be with me because he was forcing her to marry someone else." Killian said.
"Then she must understand why I did what I did. Please, talk to her."
"She doesn't have to understand a bloody thing Leanna. I can talk to her until I am blue in the face and she may never understand why you left her. No child understands why they were abandoned." Killian said bitterly. "Its not something easily understood." He still struggled with his father leaving and it had been years upon years.
"Please Killian.. I know I made a mistake. Help me fix it." Leanna begged.
"I don't know that I can." Killian frowned and stepped out of the house.
"Captain!" Billy followed.
"You can stay if you'd like Billy, but be at the Inn by nightfall. Understood?"
Billy nodded.
"Is Evynne going to be okay?" He asked.
"I don't know lad." Killian answered honestly and sighed.
Killian had searched the ship first and Evynne was not there So he checked the Inn. His crew were sitting at a table listening to a bard singing. He walked to the table and looked at Smee.
"Have you seen Evynne?" He asked.
Smee nodded.
"I gave her the key to the room you asked for...she was looking a bit upset, Captain. She bought an entire bottle of rum and took it with her up the stairs
.
Oi.." Killian sighed. "Thank you." He added and walked up the stairs and too the room he'd bought for the next few days. When he got into the room, he was relieved to see the bottle of rum was still full, however opened. He heard water running and peeked around to the large copper bathtub behind a screen in the room at Evynne stripping down to get in the tub.
"Are you..alright?" He asked.
Evynne turned and smiled at him.
"Hello love, join me. Bring the rum." She said and it was as if that entire conversation with her mother had not just happened.
Although..confused Killian picked up the rum from the table and carried it to the tub. Evynne grinned and kissed him on the cheek.
"You are entirely too dressed." She said in a sultry tone before she took the rum from him and tipped it back.
Killian slipped off his leather duster tossed it to the side.
"Mm.. little more." Evynne said and bit her lip. Killian took the bottle of rum and took a drink.
"Evynne.. I'm not entirely sure what's going on here love."
"What do you mean?" Evynne asked and approached him and untied the laces on his leather pants. Killian used the back side of his hook to move her hands away.
"I mean.. Are you sure you are okay? Its just.. That conversation was not what anyone expected.. Your moth-"
Evynne put her finger to his lips.
"I don't want to talk about it." She said and shook her head. "I don't want to think about it. I want to drink this rum, and take a bath with my love." Evynne took the bottle back and took another long pull.
Killian raised an eyebrow.
"Look, I'm not one to talk about drowning out problems but I really think you should slow down and think."
Evynne sighed and put the rum down beside the tub.
"That's the problem Killian. I don't want to think!" She said and approached him. "At least not about this. Please. I can't. Its too much right now." She said and stood on her toes to kiss him. "I could really use a distraction." She smiled with faux innocence and batted her eyelashes at him.
Killian could never turn down the look she gave him.
"Bloody Hell..." He grumbled, cupping the back of her head to bring her in for a kiss.
Evynne's arms instantly snaked their way around his body, one balling his waistcoat in her fist and the other finding a home in her Captain's hair.
"You're still wearing too much, my love." She mumbled against his lips.
"I suppose I am." Killian replied, parting from her to unbutton his favourite red and black garment.
The bath was long forgotten as the pair fell onto the bed, kissing tenderly.
Killian's clothes were gone, matching Evynne in her nakedness.
"I love you, Killian." Evynne mumbled.
"I love you too, Evie." The Captain replied, cupping her cheek in his hand to gaze over her angelic beauty. "But don't you go thinking that you've made me forget. We'll talk about the latest development in our story tomorrow."
"Fine, just shut up and make love to me." The Princess sighed, pulling him back in to silence his mouth.
Killian needed no telling twice. In the heat of their kiss, he climbed on top of his love, his legs snaking their way between her's.
His hand trailed down her body, barely touching the skin, sending what felt like tiny lightning bolts up Evynne's spine.
She let out a breathy moan, arching her back into him.
Evynne traced a line up Killian's spine with her fingertip, making the pirate shudder under her touch and his length solidify.
"Christ, Evynne..." He groaned, dropping his head down onto her chest. "The things you do to me..."
Evynne smiled and began playing with his hair.
"Perhaps you should act on them, my Captain." She said.
Killian raised his head to look at her.
"As the lady wishes." He replied with a smirk, moving in to re-join their lips.
Killian inserted himself within his love with ease. She was so beautifully wet for him.
The pair moaned in ecstasy as he made the first gentle thrust, going slow as to take care of the girl beneath him.
Each thrust after came a little heavier and a little deeper each time, causing Evynne's fingernails to dig deep into Killian's shoulder blades.
She hugged him tight at the same time, both revelling in each other.
The scent of sex and the sounds of gentle noises and slow tapping of skin on skin filled the room as they made love.
"I've changed my mind." Evynne whispered.
Killian stopped what he was doing and looked at her with a confused frown.
"What do you want, love?" He asked. "I'll grant you anything."
"I want to have to pay for damages to this room. I want us to break the bed, the chest over in that corner behind you, the breakfast table and the armchair by the fire." She replied with a deadly serious tone.
Killian smirked.
"As the lady wishes." He said.
Evynne flipped them both, so she straddled Killian's legs.
She re-inserted his throbbing length and began to rock her hips, finding pure bliss in the depths within her that he could reach.
Killian put his hand on one hip and his hook on the other, burying its point into her flesh, making sure not to break the skin – unless she asked, of course.
His eyes darkened at the sight of her on top of him, pleasuring herself on his member.
He guided her hips, knowing exactly where to hit every time.
"Fuck! Killian..." Evynne gasped as he hit a particular spot. "Right there, yes!"
Killian smirked, gripping her hip to move her faster.
It got rougher and rougher until something in the bed broke.
"Fuck." Killian groaned, sitting up.
"No, don't stop." Evynne pouted.
"Who said anything about stopping?" The Captain raised an eyebrow, leaning up to her lips. "I'm just giving you something else to break."
With that, he pulled out of her and got up, pulling her along with him.
They practically skipped over towards the fireplace, but Evynne being her impatient self, couldn't wait the fraction of a second and shoved Killian almost violently against the wall.
She grabbed his hand and his hook and held them above his head and he let her, taking in this dominant and frustrated side of her.
The Princess began kissing all over his body, starting with his face, then to his neck, chest and shoulders.
It drove the pirate Captain insane.
He couldn't let her have all the fun.
He tucked his index finger under her chin and guided her back up to his face, bringing her in for a hot and messy kiss.
"It's me pleasuring you." He mumbled against her soft, pink lips. "Not the other way around."
With that, he spun the pair of them around, making it Evynne's turn to be pinned against the wall.
Without any warning, Killian pushed himself back inside of her, earning a choked out cross between a gasp and a moan from his Princess.
"Fuck." She swallowed.
Killian ignored her, too focused on making her feel like the goddess he saw her as.
His thrusts were sharp and deep. Evynne's nails found their spot on Killian's back, this time drawing blood.
Killian inhaled sharply at the feeling of his skin being broken.
'More victory scars to add to my list.' He thought, smirking to himself as he pounded into Evynne so hard that the wall behind her could break at any moment. She would surely be as bruised as he was cut by the time they finished.
"Choke me." Evynne panted.
Just at those words, Killian could have cum right there and then.
He mentally restrained himself and did as she asked, wrapping his fingers around her neck as tightly as he had the last time, knowing exactly how much pressure she enjoyed.
He was practically pinning her to the wall just by her neck as he continued his abuse on her core, this hook lifting her leg by the underside of her thigh, surely causing cuts.
Evynne did the complete opposite of protesting. She closed her eyes to take in everything she was feeling – Killian's talented length, the breathlessness of his hand around her neck, the scratching feeling of the tip of his hook... It was bliss for her. Painful, suffocating bliss.
They were on the floor by the time Evynne felt the familiar knot in the pit of her stomach.
She never usually reached her climax through penetration alone, but sex with Killian rang different to anyone else, especially this time.
He rammed himself into her so hard that she swore the knot didn't even have time to form before it unravelled.
"Fu-Killian!" She cried, her back arched fully and her eyes shut tight.
"That's it, love. Cum for me." Killian grunted. "I'm close..."
He continued his attack, feeling the tightness form and, soon enough, he filled her entirely, milking himself for every last drop.
The Captain collapsed in a sweaty, breathless heap next to Evynne, who was much the same."Shit, that's better." She panted."Oh, aye?" Killian looked over to her, chuckling through a breath."Aye, Captain." Evynne rolled over to face him. "I love you, Killian.""I love you too, Evynne." He smiled, leaning over to kiss her softly.
