(Obsidians P.O.V)
I can honestly say that I though we were going to make it. I won't lie, I was worried, but as I hurried through the crowds with my precious bundle I was still confident. People parted out of my way like the red sea. They didn't even have to look to know who it was.
I remember looking down at her fleetingly and thinking how beautiful she looked, even in this state, with those unexplainable tears pouring down her face and into her blonde hair. Her eyes were large and glassy, staring straight ahead although I knew that she certainly wasn't seeing anything on this world right now.
I had clenched my arms tighter around her and walked a little faster. The ship was in sight now, I could see the crew members loading our supplies onto the deck where they were being carefully stacked away and strapped down. Hobbs had spied me from the gang plank. He had raised his hand to wave but the gesture stopped halfway when he saw Circe in my arms. He frowned, looking at me before swiftly making his way over to us.
And thats when it happened.
(Circe's P.O.V)
The exact moment that the numbness broke was the exact second I lost all hold on my control.
Pain shot up through my legs and an unearthly noise echoed around me, a high piercing note that rang like a bell. It took me a while to realize that the scream was coming from my own mouth. I felt my back arch dramatically and a stinging pain shot through my gums as the bones in my legs snapped and cracked making me scream out in fresh agony.
Hands were clutching at me, grabbing at my thrashing limbs, trying to keep me still. "No, no ..."
"Circe! CIRCE!"
"Obsidian, pass her to me, we have to get her on the ship quickly, everyone is staring, hurry!"
I felt myself being handed to another's arms and my arms and legs were locked tightly to my sides, preventing any movement. My head was dizzy, I still couldn't see properly, it was as though the air was stinging at my eyes and making the water run down faster. I gasped and shook my head, trying to orientate myself. I was jiggling around, someone was running and then my thigh bone snapped.
My neck arched back in a silent scream of pain, who was doing this to me? Who was hurting me like this? Some-one was hurting me ...
The sudden need to defend myself churned in my belly and rose up my throat, coming out as a screeching snarl that found its way through my elongated teeth. I threw my head back and sunk my canines into an arm.
"SHIT!"
The arms were still around me and the pain was still there, but now sweet blood was running down my chin, some of it dribbling into my mouth. I licked my lips.
Tasty ...
My head reared back again but before I could strike a scratchy material was slipped around my head and fastened around my neck, plunging me into blackness. I thrashed around, hissing and spitting.
"I'm sorry Circe." The tone was harsh and I barely noticed the twinge of sadness that was masked behind it.
They couldn't do this! They couldn't do this to me! I would get them, they would pay. My legs buckled and snapped again making me howl out in pain and anger. They would regret ever hurting me like this! I increased my thrashing until I felt the hold on my body loosen and one of my arms came free. Snarling I waved it around trying to find a hold, trying to find anything, anything to make the horrible pain stop.
My fingers met flesh and I squeezed, feeling my nails dig into the skin. The person holding me cried out with pain and dropped me on the ground. I hit wood and tried to stand, tried to get away but my feet failed me, I couldn't even get to my knees. Gasping through the sack that still covered my face I pulled myself along by my arms, desperate to get anywhere. My bones had stopped cracking but the pain in my legs hadn't dulled one bit, simply changed. Now I felt as though I was burning.
"Quick grab her!" A voice roared, making me panic. "Don't let her get away!"
Terrified I tried to move faster but my clothes were weighing me down, my arms wobbled as I tried to move forward again, tried to lift my weight. My legs were burning so badly now that it felt as though someone had lit them on fire. I felt someone grab at them and I kicked out, my feet connecting with something hard and I heard a loud thud as a body hit the wooden floor.
My brain was fuzzy, I couldn't think. Where was I, what was happening? I swallowed, trying to ease the horrible scratching dryness of my throat. My head jerked around as I heard someone thunking towards me. I hissed through the sack, my fingernails scrabbling at the string that had fastened it around my neck.
"Circe."
I hissed again, shying away from the sound.
"Circe."
"Let me go!" I howled, shocked at the sudden change in my voice. It was smoother, softer, more pearly. It sounded as though I was singing. "Let me go," I growled, trying to make it harsher. It still sounded as though I was singing.
I picked at the string around my neck, feeling it fray. Desperate I shook my head from side to side as I tried to determine where the threat was.
I jumped in fright as an arm snaked around me from behind, pinning my arms to my sides as I was lifted into the air. I struggled, throwing my body weight from side to side but it didn't make a difference, the hold was too strong. A sudden idea came to me and I threw my head back. It connected and I heard a crunch that was followed by a loud curse and my release.
I hit the ground for a second time and instantly started pulling myself forward again until I hit something that felt like a wall. Panting I reached a hand up and found that the wall wasn't very high and it had a nice overlapping piece that made a handle. I heaved myself up, my legs still failing to work in anyway.
Hurry Circe hurry.
I pulled myself up further, slumping against the top of the 'wall'. And then the smell hit me. It was beautiful, it was heavenly, it ran down my throat and soothed my dry insides. The fire in my legs burned harder, as if in anticipation. I leaned over the other side of the wall where the smell was coming from.
That's what you need, you need it! Hurry!
"Circe! GODDAMNIT don't just stand there like idiots, some-one STOP HER!"
I felt a hand grab at my skirts but it was too late, I was already falling over the edge.
"NO!" The cry was nothing but an echo as I left it behind.
Im going to die.
The thought shot to the forefront of my mind, cutting through all of the pain and confusion as I plummeted down, down, down.
I braced my hands in front of my face, glad that the sack was over my head, glad that I couldn't see the ground rushing up to meet me.
And then right at the breaking point, right when I should have felt the hard earth crack against my skull, I felt the cold embrace of water close over top of me instead.
(Obsidian's P.O.V)
I rose to my feet clutching my broken nose and sprinted to where Samson was reaching out to Circe as she fell over the edge. It was like moving through water, every movement slow, exaggerated, difficult to make. My hands reached out with his but she was already gone and without thinking I fumbled at my gun holster, and sword, discarding them on the deck along with my shirt and my hat. I dove off the side of the ship, aiming for all of the bubbles that still clouded the water from her fall.
The cold water was like a punch to the gut and my brain was clouded momentarily before I forced my eyes to open. Ignoring the sting of the salt I struck out towards her failing figure. She twisted and turned in the water, her hands struggling at the sack around her head and I hated myself for having to put it on her in the first place. I tried to get closer in order to help, but her thrashing limbs were an obstacle in themselves, quite a dangerous obstacle I discovered, wincing as her leg caught me in the arm. The other problem was her heavy clothes, they floated out around her but instead of lifting they weighed her down, dragging her further from the surface.
I cursed in my mind and reached out to grab her around the waist, just as the sack came free. Her eyes big blue eyes latched onto my own and it was in that second I knew I was in trouble. Those beautiful eyes narrowed into slits and she opened her mouth, showing me her elongated teeth that curved into a deadly point. She held me closer, squeezing me tight with surprising strength and the rest of my air supply was pushed from my lungs as she shoved me away from her suddenly. She started to struggle again, with her clothes this time and seizing the chance I kicked for the surface, breaking through with a gasp, flicking my hair back from my face.
Samson and several others were hanging over the side of the ship and Hobbsons worried face was there with the rest.
"Obsidian!" He roared when he saw me. "Get out of the the water boy! Now!"
I looked at him angry. "Are you out of your mind?! Circe is still down there!"
"An' you'll be down there permanently in a mo' unless ya get yer stupid barnacle lovin' beh-ind out o' the water now!" He yelled.
"What do you-
My sentence was cut off when suddenly something bubbled to the surface beside me. Reaching out a hand, I caught the edge of the blue material, dragging it towards me along with a tattered corset. There was silence on the decks as everyone stared down at the dress in my hands.
Without warning two little white boots flew out of the water and over the side of the ship. I heard them thunk down onto the deck and very slowly, I turned around in the water, feeling my breath catch in my throat and vaguely hearing a collective gasp from behind me.
Hobbs voice was the one that echoed down to me, calm and collected, but with an underlying tension that struck me as strange. What was there to be worried about?
"Obsidian, git out o' the water. Now."
But I couldn't move. For the first time in my life I didn't know what to do. Her eyes bore into me as she moved forwards through the water slowly. It parted for her as though it was silk, and the motion against her milky white skin had me entranced as she stopped, a few feet away from me. The water was too dark for me to see what was hidden beneath but that didn't stop me from staring at what was exposed. Her blonde hair had darkened to a rich gold and was stuck to her scalp, flowing down to meet water where it floated out around her, forming a golden halo around her shoulders. Her eyes were large, like a dolls, her thick black lashes making them look even bigger and all the more innocent. My eyes followed the line of the slim chain that looped around her neck, trailing down over her collar bone and coming to rest just above ...
I gulped but couldn't look away from the soft curves that hinted at just enough naked femininity before the rest of her was hidden by the water.
"Bones ..."
Hobbson's voice echoed dangerously but I barely heard it over the sweet tone that had called to me as he spoke.
"Obsidian?"
Her perfect rose petal lips quivered and she came slightly closer.
"Obsidian? I'm scared."
I felt my eyes close, savoring the sound of her voice that whispered through my mind like a warm summer wind and I only just remembered to keep my legs moving in order to stay afloat.
"Bones, don't listen. She's trying to trick you, she's not herself, come back over here and we will pull you up."
"Obsidian." She whispered again as my eyes fluttered open. She was close enough to touch now and I saw tears welling in the corner of her gem blue eyes. I felt something flick against my feet but paid it no attention as I reached out for her, drawing her into the protective circle of my arms. I shuddered at the softness of her touch as her fingers clasped around my arms, turning muscle into jelly.
"Bones Goddamnit!"
"Obsidian please help me." She said, her voice wavering as she huddled against me. I felt my eyes roll back into my head slightly as her bare breasts pressed against me. Definitely naked.
"I don't know what's happening to me," She whispered, her delicate hands moving to rest on my chest. "I don't know why it hurts."
I unwound a hand from her hair and brought it round to touch her lips and brush along her cheekbone.
"I will keep you safe." I promised, my voice ringing with certainty. "Let me keep you safe."
She nodded, her entrancing eyes locking onto mine and felt a gentle flick against my feet bare feet again as one of Circe's hands came to rest on the waistband of my pants, pulling me closer to her before both hands wound around my neck and she pulled herself up against me, tugging my head down towards her lips gently. I pressed her close to me, shielding her body from sight.
"Obsidian Bones, don't be makin' me come in there afta ya! BY JESUS BOY YER SUPPOS'D TA BE SMART!"
She was mine.
Our lips locked together in heated passion and I felt as though I could die right now, as long as she didn't take her mouth away from mine. I flicked her lips with the tip of my tongue, moving to kiss along her jawbone before hungrily claiming her lips with mine again. It was as though I hadn't eaten for days and her kisses were the only things that would sate my hunger, that would make me strong again. Her delicate hands came up to touch my face and I moved my own against her smooth back, lower and lower until I felt something brush against my hands that wasn't skin.
It was slippery and hard, yet felt soft at the same time. I pressed down on it a bit harder and Circe pulled back slightly, looking up at me blankly as I brought my hand back out of the water and up to my face, something glimmering on the tip of one of my fingers. I looked at it, still dazed from her kisses.
"Is that a ... scale?"
"BONES!"
My eyes found Circe's and I felt my stomach drop to the bottom of the ocean. She was grinning maliciously at me, her doll like eyes full of fury. She snarled in my face, her hands clasped in an unbreakable grasp on my neck and as she pulled me under the water so fast that I didn't even have a chance to grab my last breath only one thought was running through my mind.
She has a tail.

(Hobbs P.O.V)
Shit shit SHIT!
I watched her tug him under and couldn't help but let out a chuckle even though the situation was heading towards critical. The look on that boy's face ... I doubted that he would mind death at the moment if she was the one to deliver it.
Samson of course was panicking like a little girl. Thats all he is really, the big bad wolf act was just for show.
"What do we do, what do we do, WHAT DO WE DO!" He shrieked, clutching at his bald head. I looked at him annoyed at his lack of composure. Mind you, looking around, the rest of the group that had witnessed the happening weren't much better. Their eyes were just about bugging out of their heads
"Now don't be gettin' yer panties in a twist ya buffoon, yer not helpin'" I said harshly, studying the water. I really wasn't looking forward to doing this, and of course Cobalt chose that time to appear with the new crew. Behind them I spotted the rest of our old hands, lugging the last of the provisions
"Look," I said to Samson, slapping his face so he looked at me. "I'll deal wiv this an' explain to ya later, now make yerself useful and git everyone crew below decks. Giv 'em the briefing and tell 'em we will be settin' sail in a couple o' hours." I said hastily before eyeballing the rest of the group. "Speak of this to ANYONE an' you'll find yerself takin' a swim with a pair o' weights strung aboot yer ankles. Geddit?" They all nodded quickly, scurrying away, just as Cobalt made a beeline for me.
"Hey Hobbs," He called, "Where is Circe and my brother? Is she okay?"
I stripped off my jacket and started undoing the buttons on my shirt, chuckling at his question. "Oh she be fine, lad. It's yer idiotic brother ya should be worried aboot."
"What do you mean? And what are you doing?"
I finally removed my shirt, along with the darn infernal padding that I had to wear in order to disguise the fact that the body underneath was certainly not one of an old man. Looking behind me at the now empty deck I pleased with how fast Samson had worked.
I turned back to Cobalt who was looking at me with amazement, grasping his arms. "Not everyone is what they seem ta be, you would do well ta be learin' that. Now listen 'ere boy and listen good. I want you ta git three blankets from Obsidians cupboard. I want you to bring 'em 'ere an' I want you to wait until I git back. Under NO circumstances are you ta be callin' anyone over 'ere until I say. Okay?"
He looked at me, his face serious although I could still see shock in his eyes. "Hobbs, what is going on, what are you doing?"
I breathed deeply and cleared my mind, wincing slightly as my legs merged together for the first time in far too long, both legs of my pants splitting down the side. Cobalts mouth was agape as he stared at me in disbelief.
"Im doin' my job." I said grimly. "Now go an' do yours. I may 'av the body of a youngin' but I doubt anyone wants ta be seein' me walk around stark naked."
And thats where I left him as I leaned back, falling backwards off the side of the ship. I flipped my tail over my head and extended my arms as I dove into the water, hoping for my sake that she hadn't gotten around to eating him yet.
