Cobalts (Colby) P.O.V
I hurried through the bowels of the ship, cursing under my breath and occasionally out loud, scattering my Shipmates as I stormed towards the brig.
After Samson and Joel had sawn me free from my handcuffs, they had blatantly refused to let me out of my bedroom to see Circe.
"Bones is takin' care of 'er" Samson had growled, smirking nastily. "You can see 'er in the mornin'"
"If their be anything left of 'er to see" Joel had slipped in snidely and I had unwilling admitted defeat. I might be a Pirate but I wasn't stupid, I had no hope of making it past Obsidian's two thugs. I had scowled sliced my sword over Samsons thickly muscled chest before shutting the door in his face and locking it before he had realized what had happened.
And now I was hurrying down flights of stairs cursing my idiot brother for being stubborn and hardheaded. When got my hands on him . . . .
There was suddenly a presence beside me and I acknowledged him without turning around.
"Hobbs"
He nodded curtly and spoke quickly, his voice gruff. "I 'eard what 'appened, Bones 'as been down thar wiv 'er all night."
I looked at him in amazement. Maybe my Brothers soul was redeemable after all.
Hobbs chuckled at my suprised expression. "Don't char be lookin' at me Boy. I be havin' no more idea of what goes on in yer brothers mind than you do yerself"
I grunted in answer and hurried down another steep flight of stairs, turning right at the bottom and rushing along the corridor before flinging the door open with a bang.
"Where is she" I snarled, my anger from before returning with reinforcements.
Obsidians head whipped up and around and he pushed away from the wooden beam he had been leaning on, his golden eyes sweeping over me in a manner that was too judging for my liking.
And then he smirked.
"Why she's right over there Brother" He said, his voice taunting. He inclined his head behind him and I stepped closer towards him, her cell coming into view as I did so.
In a second I was at the bars, reaching out to the beautiful creature cowering in the corner. Her beautiful golden hair tumbled down her back, her knees tucked up to her chest, her body clothed in an exquisite blue nightgown, a little big on her, but not so large that it hid her slender frame. Her large childlike eyes shone as blue as the sky on a cloudless summer day, shining with unshed tears while her full rosebud lips quivered gently. Her milk and honey skin was pale and her body shook slightly every now and then.
I turned to my Brother, standing up as I did so, my hand still clutching to the bars that kept her imprisioned. "HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO HER?" I roared, "LOOK AT HER! SHE'S AS COMPLETELY HARMLESS!! WHAT IN GODS NAME IS WRONG WITH YOU, YOU DERANGED BARNACLE!!"
There was a sudden commotion as Bones lunged for me, a brutal scream echoing from behind me as he pulled me away from the cell and sent me tumbling forwards to meet the ground. Hobbs was suddenly by my side, helping me to stand as I whirled back on the cell gasping in shock.
"We've gotta wait till the blood is outta her system." Hobbs mumbled to himself while I looked at him as though he was out of his mind. What on earth was he talking about? I shook off his arm that held me up and before staggering backwards slightly at the sight of my Brother.
Obsidian was snarling right back in the face of the glorious creature that was now pressed up against the bars, her clawed hands scrabbling to get through the small gaps, her fanged teeth bared menacingly. She was inches from him, her head moving in time to his movement as she followed him with her slanted eyes, hissing and spitting like an angry cat.
And I had never seen Bones so excited. So on edge. His whole body was trembling with the thrill of the danger as he echoed back her screams of anger. His eyes were both burning a clear and vibrant gold that made him look almost as unnatural as the creature before him.
"What is she," I whispered to myself, surprised when an answer came from behind me.
"She be a descendant from a race o' people that be far from natural."
I turned, meeting Hobbs's weary gaze. He ruffled a hand through the little hair he had left, his eyes drifting from mine to look upon the scene that I could still hear continuing behind me.
"Ahh blow it," He muttered distractedly, "the cat be outta the bag anyway." He looked back over at me and I noticed his gaze was stronger than before.
"Yer Brother hasn't told ya anything has he." It wasn't a question, it was a statement, and I nodded my head in agreement.
"Nope," I mumbled, my mind spinning. "But I highly doubt you can tell me anything that will help to me make sense of any of this." I gestured behind me, my gaze lingering for a second. Circe, or whatever she was, was now prowling the length of the cell, her eyes never leaving Obsidian, who was now leaning back on a wooden barrel, staring intently at her. I felt a pang of jealously shoot through me but I shook it off and looked back towards Hobbs who was watching me watch them, a knowing smirk on his face.
"What" I snapped, and he held his hands up in defense, the grin never leaving his face.
"Nothing, nothing"
"Good, now I do believe you were about to give me some answers, since my Brother doesn't deem me important enough to share information with."
A loud snort came from behind me. "You've got that right flounder head."
I clenched my jaw. "You Son of a-
"Boys, boys," Hobbs cut in quickly, a long suffering look crossing his face at our arguing. "I be the one who told our Cap'n what was what, and I was under strict orders that no-one else should know, seeing 'ow the information be applying to Bones only." He said the last part sternly, guessing that I was about to protest. "But because o' the current circumstances, I be tellin' you young Cobalt, under the orders that you be spreadin' the information to no-one else or you'll be costin' yerself yer life. Understood?"
I nodded my head gamely. It wasn't the first time that my knowing of information was at the risk of my life. It was simply part of being born into this vicious life. There was no mercy.
"Good" Hobbs said, looking pleased. "Now what did Bones tell ya 'bout the pendant exactly? His one that is."
I looked at him, feeling slightly confused. What did Obsidians pendant have to do with anything?
"Just that it was Fathers," I said slowly. "And that is it the reason we are able to conceal our ship and crew like we do. Its special"
"That be right," Hobbs said, nodding his head. "You might be thinkin' that this pendant 'as absolutely nothin' to do with anythin', but the reality is," He leaned forwards, his eyes shining. "It has everythin'to do with everythin'."
"So how does that relate to Circe?" I asked, glancing behind me in puzzlement. She was now sitting with her back to us, her head slightly turned to the side as she listened to our conversation, managing to somehow keep an eye on Obsidian at the same time.
Hobbs chuckled as I turned to look at him again. "Patience my boy, patience. It'll be a while before we git to Circe so ya might as well be makin' yerself comfortable." He gestured towards a wooden barrel behind me but instead I flopped down on the floor, draping my hands over my knees.
Hobbs was silent for a moment before he began to speak, but when he did, the story flowed out of him with the air of having been retold many many times and I couldn't help but be entranced by the magic he weaved with his words, at the same time noticing that his heavy accent seemed to melt away, becoming the voice of a much younger man, but still with the feeling of world weariness, his tone implying that he had seen many things others would not even dream of.
"Many a century ago, when the world was only young, it was in danger of being torn apart by the constant war raging between the Air, Earth and Water Kingdoms. The war had been going on for so long that the World was growing weary. What they were fighting about was also important, but I shall come to that in a second-
"Wait, wait, wait," I said quickly, holding up a hand. "What do you mean the Air, Earth and Water Kingdoms? Is this some kind of children's fantasy tale because If it is then I don't have the time for this I-
"You will have time for what ever Hobbs says you have time for Brother"
I turned and glared at Obsidian as he glared straight back at me. "You will sit still and listen, not because you deserve to know, but because it is considered a great honor to be told. Do you understand?"
I gritted my teeth against my retort and slowly turned back around to face Hobbs again. He was looking at me with an amused smile on his face and upon gaining my attention again, he continued with his story.
"This is not a children's fairy-tale, and you would be silly to think so. The three Kingdoms were indeed real and still are today. The Air Kingdom was ruled mainly by the Air Sprites and . . . the Dragons. The original masters of the air."
"Dragons?" I spluttered, "You can't honestly expect me to believe that." I looked to Obsidian and gestured wildly. "You can't honestly expect me to believe that can you?"
Obsidians face was grim. "You had better believe it Brother, the Air Kingdom is where we are headed once we stock up on rum at the next Pirate port."
I gaped at him and Hobbs in disbelief, looking from one to the other. Their faces were deadly serious.
"But why?" I asked weakly to no-one in particular.
"I was just getting to that part," Hobbs continued, looking slightly annoyed. "But you keep interrupting." He frowned teasingly and I quickly muttered an apology.
"As I was saying, the Air Kingdom is ruled by the Air Sprites and the Dragons, the Earth Kingdom was ruled mainly by the Elves, the Earth Faerie Folk keep to themselves in the farthest corners of the Earth, and the Water Kingdom was ruled by the Water Sprites and the Sirens. You know of the Sirens Cobalt? They were give the 'Mermaid' title by those who were lucky enough to only see them from a distance, and not come into contact, when really they are the same thing. Sirens are deadly dangerous creatures. Exquisitely beautiful, they draw sailors to them with a haunting song of promised love and passion, and then, when the poor man is completely entranced, she will draw him forward as if to kiss him . . . before pulling him down under the water and eating him alive." His voice turned cold at the end and I shuddered, a cold chill running down my spine.
I had heard the tales of course, the Siren was considered, (by sailors), to be the most deathly creature that inhabited the oceans. They travelled in packs and could take down entire ships as large as the one under my feet now, simply by spreading lust and desire through the crew members.
"What were they fighting over?" I asked eager to change the subject.
Hobbs looked at me darkly. "They were fighting out of fear of betrayal, out of want for peace and balance. You see the most untrustworthy of the Kingdoms was believed to be the Earth Kingdom. They had humans you see, ignorant stupid humans that could be a potential threat to the safety of the other two Kingdoms, simply because of they're blundering ways.
The Earth Kingdom was not a violent Kingdom, but they grew angry that they were being labelled in with humans, but also that such violent extremities were being used against the human race. They thought it that was unfair to label the humans to be part of the Earth Kingdom when they lived in a completely different world and the majority of the Human population didn’t believe in Magic at all. The Earth Kingdom believed that as long as Humans did not become involved in the Magical World, they were of no threat and should simply be left alone.
The other Kingdoms refused to believe that the Humans weren’t a threat and they believed they should be eradicated. They showed historical examples of times that Humans had been know to react violently towards Magical creatures. They were unstable.
The Earth Kingdom stuck to its protest, and eventually the whole thing spiraled out of control and turned into a full scale war. The Dragons wreaked havoc terrorizing humans and at the same time wiping out many Earth Fae villages. The Sirens turned to human flesh for their food, the Water and Air Sprites causing massive storms that would leave the most hardy of the ships at the bottom of the ocean.
Eventually it was decided that enough was enough. The Council of Elders called a Council meeting in order to try to find a solution to the problem. After many days and agreement was finally reached. Three pendants were created by magic, to represent the three kingdoms. One for Earth, one for Water and one for Air. The enchantments placed upon the pendants predicted that, as long as the pendants were bonded together to symbolize the unity of the Kingdoms, the world would be peaceful.
The punishment for betraying anyone from any of the kingdoms was instant banishment from the magical world, a punishment worse than death. To not be with your own kind, alone for all of eternity never to mix with the magic wielders ever again . . . that was the worst thing that anyone could ever imagine . . ." He trailed off, looking as though he was remembering something.
"Holdup," I said, my brow was furrowed as I struggled to keep up with what he was saying. "So what you're basically saying is that as long as the pendants are joined together, the world is at peace? Isn't that a rather . . ." I struggled to find the right words. "Broad, generalization? I mean, there is always going to be fighting in the world isn't there? I mean, look Pirates are fighting Pirates all the time, countries declare war on other countries and-
"Ahh yes but you are talking about human wars." Hobbs interrupted, "And the bonding of the pendants excluded humans specifically. They didn't know of the Magical world apart from the myths and legends which were believed to be exactly that, myths and legends."
"But who were they made by?"
"The pendants weren't made without a great cost. They didn't know what was going to happen until it did and by then it was too late to turn back. They were created by the most powerful Priests in each of the Kingdoms temples, and the magic that was used was an old old magic. Some say as old as time itself, and the energy of preforming such a spell had a draining effect that took the life of the Priests, who came to be known as the Creators, from the Water and Earth Kingdoms, a terrible loss that was deeply mourned. These two people who gave their lives for the freedom of Magical kind were greatly worshipped and still are today. In fact, they were both from the Royal Families."
"The Royal Families?"
"Yes, the Royal Families from each Kingdom have always been loved by their people. It is said that they are all descendants of the Original three Brothers, Ceolan, Talamh and Deuaich, their names, literally meaning, Water, Earth and Air. The three Brothers were completely different and extremely powerful. It is believed that they were the Fathers of the Royal families."
"What happened to the Air creator? The one that created the Air pendant, I mean." I questioned, adding on he last part hastily. "Did they die as well?"
Hobbs face was grave. "No, she didn't die. The Dragons were present at the creation of the Air pendant and as soon as they became aware of the life or death situation, they stepped in. Dragons have magical abilities like no other being, and an immense storage of Power."
I looked at him, puzzled. "Why didn't the other Creators get help?"
Hobbs shrugged. "They didn't realize what was happening until too late. What you have to understand is that it takes a lot of preparation to preform a spell like that. It's not just something that can happen right away. The Creators meditated for days, in order to cleanse their souls of all negative thoughts that could stop them from reaching their full potential. The other magic folk present couldn't just rush in and give assistance. If they had, the weave of the magic would most likely have been broken and the Creators would have died in vain."
"Then how were the Dragons able to do it?"
Hobbs leaned forwards towards me, his gaze suddenly intense. "Dragons are a whole different level Cobalt. Even they do not know not know the extent of the magic they can preform. When faced with death, the desire to protect their young and on very rare occasions, when they are tuned into their soul and are particularly , they can make miracles happen. That is what is believed to have happened the day that the Air pendant was created. They loved their Queen very much, none of them wanted her to die."
I nodded. Things were starting to make sense but I had a feeling that there was still a lot more of the story to go.
"So what happened next?"
Hobbs chuckled and scratched at his belly, stretching his arms above his head. "Not so opposed to the idea of the Magic and the Mystical after all?"
I met his eye sheepishly. "No maybe not. The way you've told everything so far makes it pretty hard to scorn at. You talk about these things as if you were there." I looked at him shrewdly. "Were you there?"
He looked slightly guilty as he answered. "My family have been the historians for the Water Kingdom for centuries."
I gaped at him. "So you're not a Pirate?" At least that explained the accent change.
"No, I was sent to join you two because I am one of the few people that are lucky enough to be trusted by the Queen of the Water Kingdom."
"You were sent here by the Queen?" I asked in disbelief, turning round to eye Obsidian reproachfully. "And you knew this about this?"
He smirked at me lazily. "Of course I knew about it little brother, I am the reason he was sent here. After all, I am one of the most important people in the Magical World."
"More likely you are the most important person in your magical fantasy world where the population consists of you and only you." I scoffed scathingly, watching with pleasure as he smirk dropped and he growled at me. Suddenly there was an echoing growl from behind him and I leaned forwards, slightly surprised to see the Circe creature pressed up against the bars of her cell again, her predator eyes focused on me. I had almost forgotten she was in the room.
Obsidians mood abruptly changed as he turned towards her, diverting her attention, pacing alongside her cell and whispering words that I couldn't quite hear. She followed his movements with her eyes and gradually her growls subsided. She sank back down onto the floor, her legs folding gracefully as she watched him with her complete and undivided attention. I clenched my fists, part of me wanting to rush over and rip him out of the way, but I needed to hear the rest of the story first. I would win Circe later.
“Please don’t tell me that he’s telling the truth,” I groaned, looking pleading at Hobbs. He sighed and smiled wanly.
“Unfortunately it is I’m afraid. He is one of the most important people in the Magical World. And you, being his twin, are just as important. But in a different way.”
“Which is another way of saying that Im not as important at all.” I grumbled, refusing to turn around at the shark bark of laughter that echoed behind me. “So what happened then?” I asked Hobbs questioningly.
“Well, where was I . . . Oh yes, the Water and Earth Creators died because the energy it took for them to preform the spell, drained the life from their bodies while the Air Creator survived because she received help from the Dragons.
Now, after the joining of the pendants, it was decreed that they be held by a different Kingdom every hundred years to keep the feeling of equality. For thousands of years the world was in harmony. The Magical creatures lived in Peace with each other and most importantly, they lived in Peace with the humans, moving freely between the Kingdoms. The people were united. Of course there were the few occasional rebels, but they were dealt with in accordance with the law and the balance remained.
And then the unthinkable happened.
Unbeknown to anyone, a young Elf in the immediate Royal Earth family, fell in love with a human Sailor. She visited him in secret, for if she was discovered, she and her lover would be killed.
It was forbidden to fraternize with Humans. The result of their love was a baby boy, how she hid the pregnancy from her family no-one knew, but after all, Elves are the masters of concealment so it is though that perhaps her talent in that field helped to keep her secret hidden.
The boy was raised by his Father and she visited when she could, teaching her son the history of his Elven race in the hope that one day he might be accepted although he had mostly human features and lacked the tapered ears of an elf, he had the fine Elven bone structure and great strength.
He grew into a strong willed power hungry young man, eagerly taking in all of his Mothers tales, and paying particular interest to the tale of the pendants. The thing that interested him most was the Power that they held. You see, when the Creators had made the pendants, the magic was so deep that it is said that a part of their soul was weaved into the web of the jewels in the center, more so for Earth and Water, because the Creators had died making them. It is thought that each pendant held a sort of Concentrated Power of the Kingdom it represented.
Earths skill was obviously the Power of concealment and deception. Air, well I assume some sort of flight, and Water . . . well we all know what the Sirens are known for.” He looked at me pointedly and I felt a chill run up and down my spine.
“So did what did the Boy want with them?”
“He wanted to steal the Earth pendant.” Hobbs said simply. “He was angry at the fact that humans were considered lesser beings just because they weren’t aware of Magic or how to use it. He wanted equal standing for all races, and he thought that if he could steal the Earth pendant, he could prove just how capable Humans were by holding it hostage until the Kingdoms agreed to his terms. He didn’t tell his parents of his plans of course, and he plotted and schemed for so long that he didn’t realize that while time was passing for his Father, time was not affecting his Mother and himself in anyway. Longevity was one of the perks of being a Magical being and he appeared to have inherited it from his Mother.
When his Father died he realized how much time he had wasted already and he left home, gathered a crew and a ship and set out onto the ocean. He didn’t know where he was going, or where the Water Kingdom, where the pendants were being held at the time, was. He simply trusted that his Magical blood would lead him there.
Unfortunately the Water Kingdom is extremely hard to find, even if you did know its location, and he sailed around in circles for many years to no avail.
When the news of his Mothers death reached him, well that was when he snapped. Apparently she her secret had been discovered and she had been killed for fraternizing with humans. Mourning the loss of his Mother, most people say that he went completely crazy for a time, ravaging the seas ruthlessly, killing anyone in his way. He became the most feared Pirate of his time, and earned himself the nickname, ‘The Pirate King’”
At the sound of the name, something jolted in my mind and I pressed a hand to my forehead. Why did that name sound so familiar? I was sure that I had heard someone use it, and had maybe even used it myself, but with all this new information swimming around my head, I couldn’t for the life of me remember where. I looked up again to see Hobbs staring at me intensely.
“The Pirate King was mainly ignored by the magical folk, human trifles weren’t of any particular interest in them and they had no reason to suspect that his veins were filled with Elven blood. The woman that had been found guilty of human contact had not confessed to having any children. This was their downfall. The peace that had reigned for so long had lulled them into a false sense of security and they were so unconcerned that they didn’t even acknowledge the fact The Pirate King had lived far past the normal lifespan of a human.
The History recordings are not much help after that point in time. You would think that the day the World fell back into chaos would be one of the most recorded periods in time but as it were there are hardly any notes on it at all”
“So he did it then?” I asked, shock covering my features. “He stole the Earth pendant?”
Hobbs nodded his head gravely. “Believe me when I tell you that no-one had any idea how or when he did it. None at all. One second, the Earth pendant was there, and the next moment the pendants had been split apart from each other and only a scrap of paper was left where the representative of the Earth once lay.”
“What did it say?” I whispered, surprised to find my voice coming out croaky and hoarse. I cleared my throat loudly.
“It told the tale of a half Elven, half Human boy who wished for an acceptance that he knew would never be granted. He told the story of his Mother, how she was royalty and the sailor that she had fallen in love with. He spoke of how she had had to hide her love and her love child for fear of them all being killed if they were ever discovered. He explained that to begin with, he had simply wanted to steal the pendant to prove that humans were just as capable as the Magical folk. And then he told of how news had reached him of his Mothers death, and how his quest had then turned into a want for revenge. He wanted the Kingdoms to suffer, the Earth Kingdom especially. He wanted them to pay.”
“What happened to the Earth Kingdom?”
“The Pirate King got his wish. The it was decided that the entire Earth Kingdom be banished from the Magical world. They could not be trusted. It was bad enough that one of their Royal family members had been discovered to have actually have had a child with a human, but stealing the Earth Pendant? Well, that was the ultimate crime. It did not matter that the Earth Kingdom had had no idea of the events that had happened or the Pirate King's intentions, to the rest of the Magical world, the Pirate King was a citizen in the Earth Kingdom and they had become tainted. Stealing a pendant was basically considered a declaration of war on the other two Kingdoms."
I looked at him in amazement. "How do you banish a whole Kingdom?" I asked, "Wouldn't the Earth People fight back or rebel or something?"
"The Earth people weren't war loving people." Hobbs said quietly. "The banishment simply meant that they were confined to land, they could never make contact with the other two Kingdoms again. It wasn't something that anyone wanted to do but it was the law. However they were given a chance to redeem themselves. The High court decided that if the Earth Kingdom found the thief and the pendant, and brought both to the Council to be dealt with, the Earth Kingdoms banishment would be lifted. Meanwhile the Highest Priests in the Water and Air Kingdoms once again brought forth the old magic, and preformed a spell that meant that the Air and Water people could live in harmony as long as the Water and Air pendants were passed down peacefully through the direct line that had created them."
"So you mean, passed down through the Royal family?"
"The direct line from the creators yes."
"But how could their be a direct line if they died while making the pendants?"
Hobbs laughed. "They did have a family before that decision was made you realize." He chuckled and I scowled.
"Of course I realized that," I said, feeling rather stupid. "So what happened to the Pirate King?" I asked quickly, trying to change the subject. "Did they ever find him?"
Hobbs shook his head. "No-one from the Earth Kingdom ever found him. In fact the only thing they ever knew about him was his name which he had signed proudly at the bottom of the letter he had left in he place of the pendant"
A sense of foreboding rose in me as I asked my next question. "What was his name?" I asked carefully, growing suddenly angry when Hobbs paused, looking at me with an emotion I didn't like sparkling in his eyes.
"Damn it Hobbs, what was his name!!"
The answer I was given came, not from in front of me, but from behind me, the voice sounding smug.
"His name Brother, was Zeus Gold."
I whipped my head around to stare angrily at my Brother, how dare he lie to me about something as important as this, what did he think he would achieve?
"Thats not true," I yelled furiously. "Who are you trying to kid, we are both only nineteen and the time Hobbs is talking about was centuries ago."
Bones silently reached down to his neckline, pulling a slim gold chain away from the collar of his shirt. "Time is a curious thing Brother," He said, still not looking at me but now turning the golden pendant on the other end of the chain over and over in his hands.
I stared at it. Could it be possible . . ?
I looked back towards Hobbs for answers but he merely shrugged. "Its probably easier for your Brother to explain the rest anyway." He said sheepishly and I glared at him before turning back to Bones who was still speaking as if he hadn't been interrupted.
"You see Brother, it seems that when the pendants took the life from the Creators, not only did they take part of their soul and their immense skill, but they also took the years of life that they had left. Considering how the Creators were so powerful that they were practically immortal, the keeper of the pendant not only gains the immense Power in the stone, but also the longevity of the Creators, on top of how ever many years the beholder has left to live. Do you follow?"
I nodded my head, choosing to ignore the way he was speaking to me as though I were a child.
"So now do you understand just how possible it is that the Pirate King did live to be that old?"
I clenched my fists. "But that would mean that he would have had to- And we would have to be . . ."
"He did and we are." Bones said coldly, his glowing eyes snapping onto mine. "He returned, unbeknown to anyone, and captured an Elf of Noble birth, concealing his true identity. She fell instantly in love with him and became pregnant. When she gave birth to healthy twin boys he killed her and disposed of her." His tone was ruthless and I watched him with wide eyes, shock gnawing at my insides. "He put the two boys in an orphanage, letting them grow up without knowing who and what they were. The point of their existence was that, if he should ever need someone to pass the Pendant down to, he could reveal to one of his sons who he really was and educate him the magical history, and the legacy that he was to receive by accepting the Pendant from his Father. Of course it didn't go as smooth as that as your probably beginning to realize." He said bitterly, holding the necklace up higher so the golden gem set in the middle glowed from the inside. "But it still doesn't change that one fact Brother." He looked me right in the eye as if challenging me to look inside myself, to what I already knew as soon as I heard the name.
"Our Father, Zeus Gold, King of the Pirates, was the thief that stole the Earth Kingdom Pendant. And this," He said smugly, his gaze flickering between me and the necklace in his hand. "This just so happens to be the Pendant that he stole."
