S.H.I.E.L.D.

Believe it or not, I've actually learned how to do a lot of stunts within our first 2 weeks of Phase 2 as well as 4 stunts from my book. Vidia said that for this part of training, we'd need a "training buddy." Jake and I agreed to be partners and through our training, we actually got to know each other pretty well. He's the middle child and saw joining the army as a way out of his house. I guess his parents don't give him much attention or a second thought. No matter how hard he tries to please them, it always backfires and he thought that if he could prove how strong he was, that his parents would be proud of him. "I know," Jake said as he blocked one of my punches, "it's sad, but I need them to see me as someone who's capable of doing great things and I'm tired of being ignored all the time."

"I understand," I answered as I ducked his uppercut, "when my mom was still around, I was never her favorite and even though she was always nice to me, I felt like I could never trust her because of it," I explained as I tried a kick that found it's target and knocked Jake over. I helped him up as I continued, "It's the way she would act about things to and I never thought we could have that mother-daughter bond. I kept my secrets and only told her half the story."

"Sounds like a smart move if you ask me," Jake said.

"It was, until she found out about the drama I got myself into about my boyfriend," I admitted.

"Oh yeah? How did that go?" Jake asked amused.

"Let's just say that we had very different  ideas about what was going to far and what wasn't." I left it at that and Jake nodded his head as he carefully thought it through.

"Cadets," Vidia called, "I have some good news." We all grumbled because lately, the good news only meant more changes. "You all seem to have grasped these new strategies really fast, so we're going to take it to the next level."

"And what might that be? We can't start Phase three of our training for another two to three weeks, unless of course, you wanted to break the rules," Alex asked snootily.

"Cadet Williams, if your going to continue to have a smug attitude, I'll be forced to put you on the Cafeteria Serving Committee, is that what you want?" Vidia asked authoritatively.

"No ma'am," he answered quietly.

"I'm going to be pairing each of you up randomly for duels in the ring. I want to see if you can handle a real fight and I'm not the only one interested in your abilities," Vidia gestured for someone to come in. We all gasped and whispered excitedly when a S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent stepped forward. That is, everyone but me. I didn't like S.H.I.E.L.D. watching our every move and I didn't agree that killing mutants would keep people safe. After all, the supposed "aliens" were able to kill way too many forces.

"It's nice to see that your Commanding Officer has such faith in her Cadets and I don't like to be called 'agent' because I feel it a need for everyone to feel comfortable with S.H.I.E.L.D. being here. My name is Skye and all S.H.I.E.L.D. wants to do is help," she explained.

"You claim that S.H.I.E.L.D. is here to do good, yet you're killing innocent people?" I commented. All eyes turned to me and a few of my colleagues nodded their agreement.

"We aren't killing anyone and we don't want to. If you're referring to the numerous amount of rumors that are going around about mutants, I can assure you, we detained the boy from the Medical Division."

"What about after that? Where did S.H.I.E.L.D. take him and what are they doing to him?" Jake argued.

"His name was Zach and he's on one of our helicarriers with our best lab rats for observation only. Zach is being well fed and has more than enough freedoms," Skye reassured us, however, I wasn't buying any of it. Skye might have a friendly face, but I think she was lying through her teeth. Thankfully, she was summoned away and urged us to be released from training for the rest of the day so we could rest.

"And then she said that Zach had more than enough freedoms," I finished explaining the events from today to the gang.

"What's that supposed to mean?" Max asked dumbly.

"She's totally trying to get people to like her before everyone starts nasty rumors about her," Katie said.

"Your Division isn't the only one that got visited by S.H.I.E.L.D. today," Alice started.

"Well go on, don't leave us hanging," Vidia said grumpily.

"The Computers Division got a visit from an Agent Fitz. He looked like he could still be in High School and he had a British accent."

"What did he want?" I asked.

"Fitz wanted to see how well we could crack codes and hack into things," Alice informed us.

"What I don't get it, is why they have to like, watch our every move. It's seriously creepy! Like hello! Stranger Danger!" Katie exclaimed.

"I'll tell you exactly  why S.H.I.E.L.D. is watching; they're looking for something," Vidia stated.

"Ok, but what are they looking for and why so many of them?" Max asked.

"Beats me! I might be a Commanding Officer, but that doesn't mean I ever know these kinds of things," Vidia said irritatedly.

"Maybe we should look into this? As a team?" Alice suggested.

"Are you kidding me? We'd be caught in like, two seconds!" Katie said.

"It's not a bad idea, but I don't think now is the time to be doing that," Max put it off.

"I agree, Phase two of everybody's training has barely started and we don't want to be side tracked," I pitched in.

"Speaking of which, I gotta go," Vidia said suddenly.

"What's the big hurry?" Alice asked.

"Commanders have to find their own time to train to you know," Vidia said as she walked off.

"It's true, Commander Howlett always seems to be running late to his training sessions," I confirmed.

"And you know this, how?" Katie asked interested. Alice was trying not to smile when I looked for help.

"Commander Howlett and I sometimes talk," I said, desperately trying not to blush.

"Really?" Katie smiled.

"He's so scary and intimidating. How could anyone ever simply 'talk' to him?" Max asked.

"Commander Howlett isn't that  bad...once you get to know him."

I was fighting Bella in the ring and we were both pretty equally matched, until her hair pin fell out. Bella has long bangs and unfortunately, she couldn't see very well when she was trying to fight me. I took the unexpected opportunity, gained momentum, and fought my way back to the top. I knocked her down the way Vidia taught us and she just layed there. I had won, so I turned my back on her to celebrate my victory. Not two minutes had gone by when a hand yanked me back hard, catching me off guard, and threw me off balance. Bella had gained her breath back and was out to get me. She used the same move to take me down and was about to kick me when I rolled away. Her other leg was too fast and I didn't have time to react. I woke up in a sweaty mess. "I must've blacked out from Bella's other kick," I thought. "These dreams are starting to happen more and more, they always come true, and I don't like how I know these things. Maybe I could ask for help? But who would I ask? Katie is learning how to be a nurse, right? It wouldn't hurt to pay her a visit." I waited until Saturday to see her.

"Sarah! It's good to see you here in my Division, but you know your not supposed to be here, right?" Katie welcomed me.

"Yeah, but who cares about the rules? I just need your advice about something," I said.

"Sure, but let's talk about this outside, I'd hate for Simmons to yell at me. She's super nice, like, crazy  nice," Katie said.

"I've been having these dreams lately, but they're happening a lot. Is that out of the ordinary?"

"No, not at all. If anything, it means that your mind is extremely active. What are these dreams about?"

"Training," I said dumbly.

"Hmm," Katie thought for a minute, "I think you're either one of two things. You're either stressing out about training itself or you're very dedicated to your Division and are starting to know it, live it, love it!"

"That's it?" I asked relieved.

"Yeah, what did you think?" Katie asked matter-of-factly.

"I thought dreams would be more complicated than that," I admitted.

"Nope," Katie answered cheerfully. "I would love to talk more, but I have to get back to work."

"Thank you for your help! I was checking to make sure I wasn't going crazy or anything," I said.

"Good luck," Katie called, heading through the door.

"I'm stressed or dedicated...Hmm," I thought out loud.

"Talking to yourself?" Commander Howlett asked playfully.

"You caught me," I admitted.

"How's training going?" he asked.

"Fine, except for the fact that S.H.I.E.L.D. is watching us," I answered.

"Wait, what?"

"Yep, it's once a week, at least for now," I told him.

"Do you know what this means?" Howlett asked.

"That I need to lay low, like you told me to do?" I said.

"Yes, more now than ever. If S.H.I.E.L.D. even thinks that there's something different about you, then they'll pay extra attention to you," Howlett said. I thought about my dreams and if they were to found out what I could do. I didn't want that to happen, but it was something that I could easily cover up. "What is it?" Commander Howlett asked concerned.

"It's nothing," I lied and he saw right through me. I didn't want to talk about it, not right now. "I have to get back to training," I mumbled as I hurriedly walked away.

"But you don't have any more training today," he called as he caught up with me.

"Not official training," I smiled. He gave me that "look."

"You know I don't like the idea of you doing stunts," Howlett scolded.

"Last time I checked, I didn't ask if you thought it was a good idea, I only asked if you would help. You said no and now I'm doing it all by myself," I threw it back at him, "I don't see what the big problem is."

"You need to stop because if S.H.I.E.L.D. catches you, you're done," he warned.

"That's why I'm careful. Besides, they don't seem like the late night kind of people," I said.
