Day 26
Day 26 (26th June 2020) : School
School, the golden period of our life. I guess being yudkbh fans we all have this special attachment towards school. Although I just graduated from 12th two years back, school has now become a time I long to go back.
Ok so I was in three different schools. One in India, but that was just for one kindergarten year, so I do not remember it and then from KG2 to Grade 10 I was in another school and I did my senior secondary in yet another.
But the best memories are associated with my school in which I spent my childhood, the one in which I studied till 10th. And 10th is the best of best year of my school life. I will give anything to just return back to that beautiful time.
As a primary kid, I was very shy, but obedient and well behaved (not like I changed in the forth coming years). There are some vague recollections of my primary school like my teachers, my classmates and friends, trips and programs. I remember in second grade we had a class party, we all brought food and danced in class. Then we also had a trip to a park. That trip had one very memorable incident. I was on a swing and my friend was pushing me from the back (I was tiny so couldn't reach the ground to swing myself). But this mischievous boy of the class told my friend that she is pushing too slow and asked if he could. She stepped aside and he started pushing the swing, and oh god, he started pushing the swing with force that the little me thought I would fly away into the sky from that swing. But he didn't have any intention to hurt me or push me down, was careful with the swing. But I did enjoy the sudden rush that came with the high reaching swing.
I remember our school canteen. We had one main in the ground floor but students did not go there, the canteen staff used to place carts on one side of the corridor with the food items during break time. And I still remember the coin sized pizzas that we students used to love. Even during PTM my mom and dad used to take me to the canteen to get a pizza and a small bottle of juice, this was a ritual since grade 1 till grade 10.
My middle school made me come out of my shell and talk openly with my friends. From middle school we had separate section for boys and girls. And the most memorable event of middle school is the 8th grade over night stay at school. Oh the fun we had. I remember a girl in my class brought her sleep time teddy bear and we girls cuddled that throughout the day. So we spent one whole day at school. In the morning we had class and after class we could change our cloths and the food arrived marking the onset of our camp in school.
High school was filled with responsibilities and participation. I was a class representative in 9th grade and with that came responsibility if the discipline and cleanliness of our classmates and classroom.
Now comes the 10th grade. The most memorable, most exciting, most lovely year. I am pretty sure each and every girl in my 10th class with wish to go back. The activities we had, the programs we participated in, the stress associated with 'boards'. And the best set of teachers, who did not only want to bring the best of us in academics but as a person too. They would skip their lessons few days to talk about life in general, give us some moral advice and support us. And my friends, the bond I had with each and everyone. Their love for me. And how they expressed they would miss me when I leave the school. The parting hugs that we shared, those tears that blurred our eyes and those words that asked me to stay and and not leave. I really miss those days. Can I experience that once more?
11th and 12th weren't that great. I was used to my class liking me and cherishing memories with me and 11th and 12th made me face classmates with attitude towards me and competitiveness and lots more. We had some really juicy gossips in 11th and 12th. But those heartfelt memories of my previous school were missing in this. My support system and my survival was dependant upon 5 really good friends, my loves. If not for them I don't know how I would have survived senior secondary. We had some great memories, tears when the other cried, smile when we joked around and eye rolls when I would say I haven't studied anything but end up coming second in class.
The mandatory doubts asking session before exams were both annoying but did make me feel happy that everyone turned to me to ask doubts, the last minute answers, sometimes even asking me to help them cover the whole portion few minutes before exam. Mind you, that all of these were before the exam, during exam I would help nobody except myself.
The stress with board exams were horrible in 12th. Literally everyone had expectations on me and I broke down once during the study holidays because of the pressure. I would feel I forgot everything when I would go to write the paper and my poor friends were victims of nonstop blabbering of how I don't remember anything and that I might fail.
But somehow managed all that and passed 12th with flying colours that marked the end of my school life. So that's a sneak peek into my school life.
Another important element of my school life is the bus ride to home and the crazy set of friends I made. Eatting up each other's tiffin just before their stop, waving at them when they get down from the bus, our talks and the small games we used to play. My school life is incomplete without these school bus memories. But in my last school I did not travel by school bus but by train even then it was amazing to walk with our friends, catching the seat in the train, saying along the station announcements.
Writing this has made me reminisce since great memories of my life. Iwish I could go back is all I can say.
