"Gem!!" The Blacksmith Shouted at me. I was already dressed and packed. I knew what was happening today and I wanted to make sure I was well prepared. The Blacksmith marched up the stairs, thankfully there were not items to be shaken, considering I packed them all. The Blacksmith opened my door.
"Gem! Wake u- oh... Your awake... Uh... Before you leave for the docks I have a letter and a large present left for you for your birthday by your parents." He announced setting the letter down on my bed and then a large bag that jingled when it hit the bed.

"Thank you for taking such good care of me, Blacksmith, I don't know how to thank you enough." I announced as I tied my green head band on my head and then kissed my fathers hat and placed it on my head. He looked at me in admiration.

"It seems like only a month ago I was teaching you the ropes of being a Blacksmith, now you're off on your first voyage." The Blacksmith stated.

"I'll be back before you know it, Blacksmith." I replied. He pulled his hand out from behind him. He was holding my fathers gun that he had promised me. I carefully took it from him and placed it on my belt under my jacket. He nodded and I checked around the room one last time making sure I had everything, the closed my satchel and sat on the bed. I opened the letter from my parents.

Dear Gem,
Happy 15th birthday, your father knew that you'd want this day to come since the day he first mentioned it to you. We are so proud of you my precious little girl. Now it is time for you to join a crew of your own and start a journey of your own. We love you very much and hope you are as successful as your father was on his first voyage. Have a great time and just so you know, don't use all of your present in one place, it would be wise to use it for emergencies.

I smiled and tucked the letter into my inside pocket on my jacket, closest to my heart, and moved on to the present. It was 100's upon 100's of shillings. Father would leave so much currency for me. The Blacksmith handed me another small pouch full of shillings and I put that in my pocket as well. I put my present in my satchel and then picked it up. Then I gave the Blacksmith a hug. I tightened my belt and attached my sword and its sheath. Then I left, and headed to the docks in search for a crew and a ship to board and become a part of. Though I already had one particular ship, captain, and crew I wanted to join. I got to the docks and of course they were crowded. I made my way around everyone until I saw a ship named The Black Pearl. I walked up to the crew.

"Do you happen to be looking for anymore crew members?" I asked one man.

"Aye, but I'm not sure the captain would let such a young lass like yourself aboard The Black Pearl." He announced. I sighed. Then I remembered that I had met the captain.

"I met the captain just yesterday." I stated. He looked at me and laughed.

"Is that so lass?" He asked.

"Aye" I replied. I guess he didn't expect me to say that because he was taken a back for a moment.

"Gibbs! What seems to be the problem?" Yelled a voice from the ship, that I knew very well.

"There's a lass that wants to join the crew, Captain" He replied. The Captain walked down the planks and stopped when he approached, who I thought to be Gibbs. He looked at me and gave that same smile that I had received from him yesterday.

"Gem Stone, funny seeing you here, Love, what a surprise to say farewell before we leave" Jack announced.

"Oh, I'm not here to say farewell, I'm here to join the crew" I stated. Jack laughed.

"You?" He asked. I unsheathed my sword, and held it to his collar bone, as he had done to Arthur yesterday. I applied pressure.

"Aye" I replied, getting serious. Jack looked at Gibbs and Gibbs looked at Jack.

"I'll get the rum" Gibbs announced and walked away. It was me and Jack now. Jack pushed the sword away from his collar bone with two fingers. I placed it back on his collar bone.

"Lass, I'd put that away before someone gets hurt" he stated pointing at my sword. I applied a little more pressure.

"I want to join the crew, Jack" I stated, sternly.

"You have a hell of a way of showing it!" Jack exclaimed, once again pointing to my sword.

"Jack please! I need this" I stated. He looked at me then the sword then me again.

"Put the sword away and I'll consider it" Jack stated.

"Jack Please" I pleaded. He was clearly debating weather or not I should come along, so I used my last resort. "So much for a happy 15th birthday to me" I stated and sheathed my sword. He looked at me and sighed.

"If the crew takes over the ship because there is a female aboard, I'm blaming you!" Jack exclaimed. I smiled and hugged the pirate. He may be a pirate, but he's a caring pirate on the inside. I released him quickly.

"Thank you, Captain Jack" I commented and ran up the wooden planks to the deck, just as Gibbs ran out of the captains quarters and shouted,
"I Found The Rum!"
I took everything in. I was now, aboard the Black Pearl, on my first voyage, as apart of Captain Jack Sparrows Crew. I hope this is what mother meant by successful.
