Jungle Woes

Skye's POV:

"Uggghhh......" I said as I sat up, facing my surroundings after another peaceful night's sleep. But, to my surprise, I wasn't in my pup-house anymore. Nor was I at the Lookout. But I was in a..... a...... "C-Clearing? And underneath a bunch of palm trees? In a j...j....jungle?! N-No! This c-can't be! Like, h-how? And w-why?!" I shouted out into the thicket of vegetation I was surrounded by, as I stood there in complete disbelief of what was happening. But, in doing so, I heard a rustling in the thick tangle of vines and shrubs that laid on the outskirts of the clearing I stood in.

"Wh-Wh-Who's there?! I have claws now, you hear?! And I'm not afraid to use them! But, as a small animal, covered in the thick vegetation, arose in the vegetation and began walking towards me, getting stuck quickly after trying to move, I heard it say "Sk-Skye? I-Is that.... y-you?" Then, I realized who the voice was coming from, and it was none other than Chase himself! "Ch-Chase! Now did you get stuck in all those vines?" I asked him, running over to him and using my teeth to rip apart the vines and free him.

"Chase! It really is you! Thank goodness I'm not all alone!" I said, hugging him tightly after I freed him and realized it really was him. "Y-Yeah. And th-thanks for saving me, Skye. I'm just glad that we're at least in this together." He said hugging me back. We then let go of each after a few seconds, and he continued on with what he was saying. "And I.... I don't know...... but, the last thing I remember was playing Pup Pup Boogie with you, and I was winning-" he said groggily before I interrupted him, saying "Yeah, sure you were, Chasey!" I said teasing, but I immediately regretted saying anything as soon as I realized what I had said. "Wait, what?! Chasey?! Chasey?! Chase was not supposed to know about that! Where did that even come from?!" I thought to myself as I sat there looking down at the ground, with a nervous, wavering smile on my face and a very noticeable blush on my cheeks.

"Ch-Chasey?" Chase said questioningly, tilting his head slightly while looking at me. "Yeah, I.... I have no idea where that came from. I um.... well uh.... oh, just, uh....feel free to continue with your story whenever you're ready!" I said nervously, beginning to blush. "Heh heh," he chuckled gently before continuing.

"R-Right.... um, well, next thing I knew, I was surrounded by a thick, putrid-smelling, purple gas, and that gas was the last thing I remember seeing before I blacked out." Chase finished, standing up and looking around only before finally realizing his surroundings, and then beginning to freak out, much like I had. "Uh, wait a minute. W-Where are we? And what's g-going on?! And why are we in a j... j... jungle?!" he shouted out in a panicking tone. "I.... I don't know," I replied calmly, a slightly nervous tone taking over my voice as well. "I just woke up here, and then before I knew it, 'POOF!', I was in this clearing! And then, like that, it had hit me that we were in the jungle! "But, perhaps the real question is," Chase began, before I finished his sentence, "how did we get here?"

Everest's POV:

"Darn it! All these..... these..... annoying bugs! How does anyone expect a pup to sleep?!" I said, scratching at my ear, desperate to get rid of them. Where are they even coming from?!" I said as I felt my ears being bombarded by the flapping of tiny wings from whole swarms of bugs circling all around my head as I came to. But, as I picked my head up, I could also hear a faint noise off in the distance, just above the bugs' swarming: Screaming. And I just knew it had to be Skye's screaming, as none of the other male pups could possibly emit, much less even hear, that high of a sound of which a female pup could make. But then, as quickly as I had heard it, it had vanished, leaving me clueless as to what had just happened, or what had happened.

"Well, that was...... weird." I said to myself aloud, which I assume then caused something, or someone, to stir, as I could now hear it's breathing beside me. But as I looked down, scared out of my mind, I say it was only Marshall, and I breathed a huge sigh of relief. And I assumed that caused him to fully awaken, as he sat up, looking confused as to where he was.

"Wh..... Where are we?" he said as he groggily looked around. "Wh-What do you mean?" I said, confused as to what he was talking about. "Well, my vision is kind of blurry, but I don't remember sleeping somewhere with all this green around us. And as a matter of fact, I thought I was asleep with you in my pup-house!" he said, rubbing his eyes and sitting up. "Huh?" I said, confused as to what he was talking about. "Look around and see for yourself!" he told me, and it wasn't until then that I looked at my surroundings myself.

"W-Woah! Where are w-we? H-How did we get in this little c-circular cl-clearing? And how did we even get into a j-jungle?!" I exclaimed, suddenly realizing why Marshall was so surprised and taken off-guard. "Right? That's what I wanna know!" Marshall said, standing up, a worried expression on his face. But as soon as I looked over and saw him, my whole way of thinking went out the window, and I got lost in his beauty. "Oh, wow." I thought dreamily to myself, lost in my thoughts, "even when he's worried, he still looks so cute!"

"So, uh, how do you propose we get out of here? Because I've...... well.... I've got nothing. And I while may not be the smartest pup there is, I do the forest can be a scary place, especially at night!" he said, still maintaining his worried look, but now beginning to tremble a little. "Oh, well, uh........ hmmm..... that's actually a good question! But perhaps," I said, a deep-in- thought-like expression on my face, "we must figure out how we got in here if we want to get out!" I said proudly, surprised that I had figured all that out on my own. "Well..... you may have a point with that....." Marshall said, still trembling, "but h-how exactly do we do that?"

"I'm..... not sure......" I said, still in deep thought, looking down at the ground as I thought. And as I stared at the ground, it then hit me. "Hhhh! Wait a second! I just noticed something!" I excitedly claimed. "What is it E-Everest?" he asked nervously. "Well, notice how the ground is sloped, right?" I asked him. He looked down below trembling legs and saw that the ground was indeed slanted. "Y-Yeah, so? How's that gonna help us get out of here?! And wh-what are you trying to get at here? Because I'm..... not really seeing it, Everest." he finished. I giggled at this and continued.

"Well silly, I'm trying to get at the fact that if the ground is sloped, then it's got to mean we're on a hill or...... mountain of some sort! So......" I said before pausing, my voice trailing off for a second, trying to see if he would pick up on where I was going. "So..... if we climb up this mountain or hill, then we can use the peak to our advantage to find out where we are geographically! Genius, Everest!" he said enthusiastically, with all of his nervous qualities and actions beginning to fade away as his usual happiness once again took over.

"Yes! Exactly! But, you said it 100 times more genius than I could have, Maarrrsshy! I mean, like, wow, you're cute, funny, and smart, I see! The whole package!" I said in a flirtatious way, causing him to blush redder as his fire truck, and put on a weak, embarrassed smile. Then I immediately realized what I just said. "W-Why did I just say that?!" I thought to myself, turning a dark purple on my cheeks, due to the mixing of red and my fur colors. "W-Well, I wouldn't say that....." he stuttered nervously. "But I..... I began to say before my voice began trailing again.

"Oh, come on, Everest! Just embrace it already! You know you like him, and he may too! And if he doesn't, you gotta show that to him!" I thought to myself before continuing. I..... I..... I w-woouulldd!" I said teasingly, stuttering, yet embracing, what I was truly going to say. "Now, let's go!" I said, as I began jogging up the mountain and into the huge tangle of vines and vegetation outside of the clearing. "H-Hey!" I heard him say, snapping out of whatever he may have been thinking, "Wait up!" he then said, running into the thicket of vines, and the unknown, as we debarked on our perilous hike, ready to face the long journey that I knew lay ahead of us.

Zuma's POV:

"D.... Dude..... my aching head!" I exclaimed in pain as I groggily sat up, still curled up in a ball. But, as I began to look around, I then realized that my head was probably the least of my problems. "W-Woah! Wh..... Whewe am I?! And more importantly, where are the others?!" I said, beginning to freak out, despite my general calm nature.

But then, I heard gentle snoring next to me. "Wh-What in the world is that?!" I said as I looked down and all around me, seeing nothing but the soft, black jungle floor that lay below my paws. And so, I sat there, staring at the ground below me for a few seconds, before something finally hit me. "Hey, wait a minute! The jungle floow is.... Is slanted! Which must mean....... I'm on some sort of..... of..... mountain! Yea, yea! That makes sense! So, now all I gotta do is climb to the top to get a better scope of where I am, and then I can work from thewe!" If only it wasn't such a long trip! But oh well! To the top, I guess!"

But, as I got up and turned around, towards the top of the mountain, as I had been facing the bottom, I saw Rocky, in a deep slumber, snoring lightly. "Oh, that's what was making that sound! It's just Wocky!" I said quietly with a sigh of relief. "But, I guess that just leaves one more question. Should I wake him? I mean, I don't wanna wake him, as that's rude anyway. But, I can't just leave him here. He is my teammate, after all. And, it's gonna be a long way up to the top. So, it would be better if we got as much of a head-start as possible." And after a minute of hard thought, I knew what I had to do.

"Wocky. Oh WWooccckkyy!" I said softly in his ear. Yet, all he did was twitch his ears a bit. I then increased the volume of my voice a bit more, but still nothing. "Dang it, it's not working! Well..... I guess I know what I have to do...." I thought to myself, taking in a deep breath. Then gathering all my strength, I screamed "WWWOOOCCCKKKYYY!" to the top of my lungs. And luckily, it worked, as he then jerked himself up. "AHHHHH! I'm awake, I'm awake!" he said, his head moving around rapidly, with his blood-shot eyes darting all over the place.

"Z-Zuma? W-What are you doing here? And why did you scream?!" he asked frantically. But, as he looked around, another question escaped his lips. "And why are we in a forest?!?!" he then asked, beginning to panic more and more with every question he thought of and asked. "Wocky, Wocky! Calm down, dude!" I said calmly. "And furthermore, I don't know how you or I got here, or why we're here. And I screamed because you wouldn't wake up when I said your name in a normal tone!" I said, chuckling a bit at this.

"Oh. Well, what now, Zuma? I assume you have a plan, otherwise you wouldn't have woken me, as I know you love to watch and let me sleep!" Rocky said with a smirk and a smug look on his face. "N-No I don't!" I said, beginning to blush and going on the defensive. "Good thing no one can see me blush under all my dark fur." I thought to myself as we stood there in awkward silence.

"Yeah, whatever." Rocky said, smirking even harder. He must've noticed me blushing harder and harder by the second, and I must've been blushing so hard now that my cheeks were turning a dark-brownish color. "But," Rocky began again, "as much as I love to tease you," he continued, winking at me between his sentence, causing me to blush so hard that I felt like my cheeks were waiting to burst, "we do need to get down to business, because all we're doing now is burning daylight! So, what's the plan?"

"Well," I began, "while you were sleep, I noticed the ground was slanted, correct?" I asked him. He quickly looked down at the ground, then back up at me, nodding his head ever so slightly. "Right. Go on." he said, listening very intently. "Well, from that, one could only assume that we were on some sort of curved terrain, like a slope or a steep hill. But, given all the tropical vegetation and wildlife, not mention the fact that we're even able to stand upright, that would be very unlikely, and therefore one could only deduce that we are on a mountain of a sort. And, by reaching the top of said mountain, we would be able to have an amazing vantage point and possibly even be able to calculate a route back home, or at least, one out of this jungle!" I said, breathing hard as soon as I finished my last sentence, as I had not taken a breath since I started speaking!

Wow, Zuma! That's an amazing plan! Not to mention your vocabulary, why........ It was just absolutely, stunningly superb! When did you learn how to speak like that?!" Rocky said, obviously impressed. "I..... I finished l-learning it last week, though I've been learning it for 2 months. I w-wanted to impress you for uhhhh....... well something." I said, blushing. "Well," Rocky began, walking right up beside me, "you're certainly impressing me now." He finished, winking once more and making me blush even harder.

"But, anyway, come on now! We have a mountain to climb!" he said confidently, beginning the trek from the clearing that we stood in into the endless tangle of vines and vegetation with myself following in hot pursuit behind him.

Chase POV:

I swung the stick that I held tightly in my muzzle as hard as I could at the tropical vegetation that lay in front of me, successfully knocking it down to the ground. Then, Skye walked in front of me, with a smaller, more manageable stick she had in her muzzle as well, and then swung and cleared the next foot of the trail we were making on our journey to the top.

"Phew! Beating these vines sure is hard work!" I said, dropping my stick and myself on the ground. I began panting heavily, and soon enough, Skye followed behind me, dropping herself and her stick and panting heavily, too. "Man, tell me about it!" she said as she lay on the ground, trying to catch her breath. I felt a bit sorry for her, seeing as she was smaller than me, and as such, so were her lungs, so I know she must've have been struggling for air. But, luckily, after laying there under the dense canopy of the mighty palm trees above our heads, after five minutes, our heart rates had decreased once again, and our panting finally subsided. "Well," I said, standing up again and stretching, "we better get a move on if we wanna make the most of this sunlight!"

"Yeah, I guess you're right" she said, standing up as well and grabbing her stick off the ground. I did the same, and she was about to swing her stick and clear the next few feet of the way when I stopped her and said "Please, allow me. I don't want to have such an amazing, sweet lady pup such as yourself doing all of the work!"

"Uhhh...... why... thank you, Ch-Chase. That's v-very sw-sweet of y-you.... to umm...... say." She stuttered, blushing extremely hard. "Um, you okay, Skye?" I said in a slightly concerned voice, even though I was actually trying to subtly tease her. Though, I think she picked on this, as she began blushing even harder, and she lowered her head to the ground, with a weak, wavering smile on her face. And, even though I didn't do it to a point where it was completely visible, I began blushing a bit myself, too.

"Yep," I thought to myself as we stood there, chuckling a bit aloud, though I don't think Skye noticed, as she seemed to be daydreaming to herself about something as she stood there and continued blushing and smile, and now, giggling, with her head towards the ground, "she's gonna love my gift."

**********

Rocky's POV:

"Come on Zuma, we're getting close! I can feel it!" I said as I continued whacking away at the weeds in front of me with a palm tree sapling I had ripped out of the ground when I had to battle that copperhead snake, with Zuma having a smaller tree branch and doing the same, though he and I were slowing down our speed, as we were getting extremely tired, especially after having to wiggle our way out of that practically invisible quicksand pit.

He gave one last, weak swing before saying "I.... I.... I c-can't do it!" and collapsing to the ground, with his legs finally giving way. He then lay there, panting heavily as his tired, aching, scarred, and sand-covered body tried to maintain and recover itself. And upon realizing how much Zuma was going through, I immediately felt terrible for pushing him so hard all this time.

He then began coughing hoarsely, with dust emerging from his throat and nostrils, and with every cough sounding more and more like he was struggling to grasp the air his lungs oh-so-desperately needed. "Z-Zuma!" I exclaimed, running over to him and lying beside him, putting a paw on his rapidly deflating and re-inflating chest. I took a short breath in, and said, "Zuma, I'm so sorry I pushed you so hard. I didn't realize you weren't handling it so well. And honestly, seeing as both of us went through that sandpit, and had to battle that copperhead snake, not to mention all the hard work we've done getting this mountain, I'm not sure how I haven't collapsed either. Not to say I haven't felt the pain, or the aches, or the stinging venom coursing through my veins from that from that snake bite I got earlier in my front right lend. But, please, could you forgive me?"

"O-Of c-course, W-Wocky. I could never stay m-mad at you. N-Not that I ever was in the f-first plc.-place." he said, still struggling to breath – and talk – normally. "And I could never stop loving you for reasons just like that. And that's why I'm glad we're best friends." I said compassionately. "Ah, ah, ah. Best friends f-forever." he panted, his breathing beginning to improve. "Totally, "dude"," I said teasingly, causing us to both laugh.

Third Person POV:

Ugh! This plan is going nothing like expected! And I'm starting to get bored!" said Mayor Humdinger, as he sat in a black, comfy chair next to Sweetie, in a dark, pitch black room, with the exception of the lights shining from the huge, four monitors mounted on the wall above a huge, long, gray control panel, which each monitor aimed at each individual team, excluding the forth one, as it was an overall view of the laboratory-made "jungle mountain". "Why yes, as am I. So, let's skip to the fun part! Mwahahahaha!" she said evilly, snorting at the end of her brief, devious laugh. She then pressed a big, red button on the control panel that lay in front of them, causing the button to activate and light up a bright red, as the sudden screams of 6 pups in the laboratory room were heard from the monitor as they fell through the "jungle floor" below them.

Note: Well guys, that's the end of the awesome Chapter Three! And things are beginning to heat up! "Two" bad there only two more chapters left! But I know you won't want to miss it! And sorry for updating so late again. I have no internet at home, and rather, I have to use my Mom's Mobile Hotspot whenever she just so happens to have it on. I would ask her for it, but every time I do, she always ends up finding something else for me to do first. So yeah, sorry for any inconvenience that may have caused. But anyway, the link to my SoundCloud account, where I have a PROTOTYPE of my song "Believe", my first song, "Space Planets", and an additional, special song "BASS FURY" posted on, is below, at the end of this note, but keep in mind that since it is a PROTOTYPE, it WILL have errors, and it will sound MORE OR LESS like this, meaning some things could change, but it's not likely they necessarily will! And don't worry, I'm going to fix all of those errors. And, just so it's known, all of the extra chapters in this book and "PAW Patrol: Vengeance!" will be moved to "My Story Life," and all other chapters I write about my personal life and important notices for the books I write on Wattpad will be written in that book as well, so be sure to put it in your library, and check it out if you haven't already! I've written some pretty interesting stuff in it, and yes, I will make a chapter as to what happened with my sunflower, for those of you that were already reading it. But, Until Next Time ~ Chris B.
