My Guardian Angel
Dear Jesus,
Wheeze, puff... Huff, puff... In and out...
My breath was coming out in puffs.
Hard, worked-out puffs. Puffs like that of a woman in the third stage of labour.
Everything swirled in a blur as I fought for dear life.
Taking a proper survey of my surrounding was impossible, to avoid being burnt into oblivion, but I instinctly knew that I was in the church auditorium.
I had found myself walking down the aisle towards the altar. Suddenly, the earth began to tremble and I had to hold on to the pillar in the middle of the aisle to steady myself.
I didn't have time to ask myself what was the cause of the tremor because a second later, a large dragon erupted before me like hot lava from a volcano.
The monster before me looked like it had been awoken from the jurassic age. It had blood red eyes. Dark scaly skin, looking so scratchy that one could almost pity the dragon who owned it, covered whatever unseeable innards that lied beneath that fearful body.
Frightened out of my wits, I screamed in terror. JESUS!!!
I mean, who wouldn't. It looked absolutely hideous. Like a picture right out of abysmal Hades.
And I began looking round the auditorium, which surprisingly looked really large, for a hiding spot. Hundred times larger than in real life. It seemed to be expanding.
And that infuriated my foe the more. Plus the fact that I had called Your name, which it obviously hated. I ended up in the receiving end of its anger.
Streams of hot lava flowed towards me from the dragon's mouth.
It looked like the replay of my other recent dream about godzilla.
Only this time, I was prepared. The shower of fire couldn't hurt that much because I was wearing the complete armour that my guardian angel had given me.
Didn't she say she'd always be at my service? Where the heavens was she?
I stopped my futile search and started fighting.
Weakly, though. It was like the scene of David facing Goliath.
By then the expanding auditorium had transformed a wide grassy field.
A stream of fire hit my bare back. Aaahhh! I screamed. Excruciating pain flooded my being. That was when I realized that I didn't have anything to cover my back.
I gritted my teeth. The pain was too much.
At that point I grew really weak and I fell down. The dragon started pressing in on me. His scaly body scratched the exposed part of my skin and blood oozed out unrestricted. He was wrestling with me, pressing so hard on me that I felt my life being sucked out.
I knew that if I didn't get back up fast, I might die from either blood loss or strangulation. Using my last energy, I prayed.
"Lord Jesus save me. Send your host to help me."
As if on cue, my guardian angel appeared. Lightning flashed at her entrance and the dragon roared fearfully, affected by the immense light of her glory.
Her sword drawn, her eyes flaring with the holy Shekinah flame of God and her mouth uttering an unknown tongue, probably what the Bible refers to as tongues of angels, she advanced and effortlessly sliced off his scaly arm which was squeezing my lower abdomen.
ROOOOAAARRRR!
He, or should I say it, roared so loudly that the earth shook.
Black gooey blood splattered on her spotless garment and on my face. Ewww...
In the twinkling of an eye, the blood stains disappeared from off her shiny robe.
I managed to crawl and scamper away weakly from the battle heart.
The dragon, reacting from the clean slice of its forelimbs, turned and blasted forth fire from his mouth and flared nostrils. I thought I could see sulphurous vapour emitting out of his pointy ears too.
My guardian angel stood her ground. Immediately, her halo produced a force field surrounding her. The fire didn't even touch her at all. It looked like the scene of pouring water on a sealed plastic ball.
The dragon plonked his heavy, spiky, blade-like, reptilian tail on my guardian. She warded off the blow with her sword in a sweeping arc into the spiritual air.
"I rebuke you in the name of the Lord!" Her voice sounded like thunder, filled with authority.
She soared upward as fast as lightning, and plummeted down to his scaly back. She gave a war cry, sinking her golden sword into his back just below his ragged wings, giving him a mortal wound.
Roaring in pain, he shook her off but she landed skillfully on the grassy floor, unhurt.
She swung her sword expertly and it transformed into a pitchfork with four tines.
Using its prongs to hook him like one would spaghetti, she threw him million of miles away into something a place that looked like a black hole in desert human civilization has not discovered. I saw that cos my spiritual eyes zoomed into to that place.
By then, I was on the floor, still weak, dirty and slightly frightened. She came to me smiling and stretched out her hand to help me up.
"You called me," she said. Her voice was back to its normal melodious tone. Like the sound of the strings of an harp strung by a professional harpist.
I hesitated at first but then took her hand, and felt divine strength course through my spirit.
"I did?" I asked confused and still feeling flustered from the battle that had just transpired.
She began inspecting my injuries.
I don't even know her name yet she claims I called her.
She laughed, heartily. Was I funny?
Her laughter was contagious and I couldn't help joining her. The atmosphere lightened up.
"Radiance dear, you asked for the host. And I am your personal one."
She was touching each scratch so tenderly with a balm on the tip of her fingers. I would feel all the sensations as my blood would automatically clot and then the wound would heal up.
"Ehmm... I guess I did. Thanks so much Jesus," I said and I clasped my hands upward in a thank you fashion.
"Ouch!" I flinched in pain as she touched my back. I couldn't see it but I guess it was probably as black as soot if it felt that sore, that painful.
"Sorry," she said as she poured oil from a small golden jar that appeared out of nowhere on it and began to massage my back. It was painful at first but it felt cool and soothing. I knew when all the burns were healed.
Thank you Jesus.
Addressing her as I dusted my armour, I asked, "So, what should I call you?"
"Gloria." Her eyes glinted golden flame again. But this time it wasn't anger. It was love.
The colour of her iris changed back to light brown. It was a fascinating transformation.
"It suits you," I said.
"And so does your name. Did you know your name and mine have a spiritual connection? Radiance of the glory of God."
Wow! So cool.
"Yeah it is." It was officially confirmed. My guardian angel reads my thoughts.
I looked into her soft brown eyes. I desperately wanted to touch her to know how she would feel under my palm. I know it's kinda weird but I was so curious to know.
Stretching out my hands in the direction of her wings, I asked,"Can I?"
"Sure, why not?"
I immediately went over to her wings. I stretched out my hands and touched it. It felt soft, silky and feathery all at once.
She opened up her wings full length, full glory.
I couldn't believe I was touching an angel's wing.
She was calm and patient with me. She didn't even mind when I tried touching her halo.
Gloria cleared her throat comically few seconds after I started inspecting the golden hem of her snow-white robe. I looked up from my squatting position, with a childish grin on my face.
"Come, you still have a lot of training to do. Having the weapons of God isn't enough. You must know how to use it."
She grabbed my hands and pulled up. She began speaking softly in the unknown tongue again and made a circular arc into the spiritual air with her sword. A whirlpool, multicoloured portal appeared.
Still holding my hand, she entered in and I followed.

Who-hoo! If you loved this chapter as much as I enjoyed writing it, kindly scream Hallelujah! 💃
I just love angels kicking demons' butts.😇
Meet Gloria...👼 Thankfully, Radiance kept to her promise and didn't forget to ask for the name of her guardian angel.
Angels are spiritual ministers assigned over the heirs of salvation.
Where do you think Gloria will take Radiance to?
