I will hear no 'UDATES' in the comments. It has not been nearly five months. sHUSH.
It's short anyway, sorry qwq
Janus walked into the stables, nose crinkling. Remus closed the door behind him with a wide smile. "So," The stable boy said with a lilt, "What's brought you here today, darling?"
"I don't know," Janus answered, acting as if the smell wasn't bothering him. "I'm just bored."
"Aw, really? I thought your friend was over."
The noble boy glanced at him. "Who?"
"Glasses-kid. Lanky-chap. The one you were with first."
"Oh," Janus said. "Logan."
Remus nodded. "Yeah, him. Is he not your friend?"
Janus thought about it. Then he shrugged. "I don't think he likes me very much. I don't really care but he just came to see if I was okay after the river incident."
"Sounds like he cares, then," Answered Remus, almost knowledgeably. Janus gave him a sharp look and he held his hands up in defence. "Hey, all I'm saying is that he made his way here to see if you were okay. Sounds like he cares at least enough about ya, right?"
Janus shrugged again. "I don't know. Where's the horse?"
"Starlight?"
"Mhm." Janus peered into stables, rocking back and forth on the balls of his feet. "I wanted to see her."
Remus grimaced lightly. "Yeah, sorry 'bout that. She's getting a wash right now and she always makes a scene over it. I don't recommend it, unless you wanna get covered in soapy, horse-stinking water."
Janus shrugged, still looking around the stables. "Can't be any worse than the river."
"True. I found out your name, by the way."
"Oh?" Janus turned around. "And what is it?"
Remus grinned. "It's Janus."
Janus couldn't help it. He smiled back, just a little. "Oh, yeah? What's my last name?"
This made the stable boy falter. "Er... Janus dick-fit-in-your-mouth?"
There was absolute silence in the stables. Not even the horses moved. Janus stared blankly at Remus, who was smiling awkwardly and sweating like someone had dropped him into a volcano.
"I'm leaving," He said, abruptly, and turned to march out.
"No!" Remus whine quickly, turning around after him.
"Don't touch me, I can't stand you anymore."
"That implies you could stand me before!"
Janus swung open the stable doors. "Oh, shut it. I couldn't."
"Could too."
"Could not."
"Could too and you did!" Remus grabbed his wrist, grinning. Janus fixed him with a mean glare, that felt more like a pout, and pulled his wrist away. Remus's smile was unflappable. "C'mon, then, beautiful demon. What's your name?"
The noble boy, crossing his arms, gave Remus a challenging look. "It's Janus."
"Janus what?"
"Janus Adders."
Remus's unflappable smile decided to stop existing. He stared at the other boy, mouth agape and eyes bulging. He looked petrified, paling by the second, and even began mimicking a fish as he struggled for words. Janus smirked, smug at this reaction.
"I-" Remus stammered hesitantly. "You- Sir, I'm so-"
Janus groaned loudly. "Ugh, don't start with the 'sir' stuff. You haven't bothered with it before and I don't care about it anyway."
"You're my boss- and- and I've been-"
"Oh, grow up!" Janus huffed, turning around and beginning to walk away. "Are you going to hang out with me, or not?"
Remus stared. "Am I gonna what?!"
Janus looked over his shoulder, arching an eyebrow. "I'm asking you to accompany me in the forest today, because Virgil's busy. What, are you busy too?"
"No, no, I'm- I'm free, I'm free all day!" Remus ran over excitedly, to catch up. "Hell, I'm free all night too."
"We're not going that far."
Remus grinned. "I wasn't implying that, now. Master."
Janus shuddered. "I hate you."
"What? Socially-wise and employment-wise, you are my master."
"It's master Adders, if you have to."
Remus grinned and the grin turned into a laugh. "You are fun."
"You are ugly."
"It's a shame you're not."
Janus scoffed, quickening his pace. "I regret inviting you."
"Too late to back out now, lil' devil. I think you're cute and that's good enough for me."
"And you're so stupid, I may as well call you a pet."
"Kinky."
Janus rolled his eyes but he knew it was more affectionate than he'd like it to be. "Just keep walking. I'm burying your body in that forest."
"Bury your body with me, then."
"I hate you."
"Good."
