Chapter 12: Last Day on Jabberwock Island
You and Peko are sitting on the beach, relaxing at the sight and sounds of the ocean. You looked at Peko and noticed that her sword is just slightly out of her grasp.
Peko: "You're looking at me. Is there something wrong?"
"No. Sorry, I just noticed that you're not gripping your sword tighter as usual."
Peko: "Well, how about that? I guess I just feel much more relaxed than before."
"Well, we came here with the others to have some fun, so it's natural to feel relaxed, especially since it was hard to forget about the whole Raiden and Clan civil war thing."
Peko: "About that, how are the rest of your family doing?"
"It's been an adjustment, but everyone is doing well, and there still hasn't been a sign of Raiden coming back. I think he's gone into complete isolation. Still feel bad about the whole thing."
Soon, the two of you heard walking and see Fuyuhiko walking towards yourselves.
Fuyuhiko: "What's done is done. All you can do is keep moving. Besides, traditions shouldn't have to control everyone."
"Thanks for telling me that."
Fuyuhiko: "Besides, I think some time to himself is something he needs, and I don't mean to be a buzzkill, but we'll be leaving the island in like 8 hours, so enjoy it."
Peko: "You too, master."
Fuyuhiko nodded and walked away.
"So you guys coming to Jabberwock Island next year as well?"
Peko: "Yeah. That's how it'll always be for our lives. You don't have to come every time though. I respect that you'll have other things or other places you want to be at."
"Nah. I think I'd like to come here once a year."
Peko: "I feel like there's another reason. Would it involve me in any way?"
"Am I really that obvious?"
Peko: "Just something I noticed once and began to figure it out on my own. So, if you have anything to say, just say it. Not like anyone else is watching."
"Peko," you said, standing up, "You are one of the most awesome women I've ever met."
Peko: "Thank you."
"And in the time we were hanging out and I... might have developed feelings for you."
Peko: "Well, I'm glad I'm not the only one who did as well."
"So, you think we could be more than just friends?"
Peko: "Why not?"
You smiled a little and Peko held out her hand.
Peko: "Let's go. We still have some time before we leave."
You held her hand and the two of you walked away.
