Chapter 2
 
  It was beginning to get dark. Joey was in her chamber brushing her long hair, when she heard a knock at her door.
  "Come in," she said softly.
  The door began to open slowly, and her sisters head peeked. "Am I disrupting you?" she asked before opening the door completely.
  Joey looked over her shoulder towards her sister. "Not at all," she said with a nod of her head. "Please, come in."
  Michelle opened the door, and stepped inside. She was bewildered when she saw her sister dressed in a split skirt and light orange shirt with her boots and cloak on. Michelle cocked her head. "Where do you think your going?" she asked, placing her hands on her hips.
  Joey shrugged. "It's my first day here. Do you really think I'm going to spend it by sleeping?" Joey smiled and shook her head. "I think not." Joey laid down her brush and stood up from off her stool. "You know me. I love exploring at night. How could I sleep when there's so much to see?"
  Michelle shook her head. "It is not safe, sister. The safest place in Loveland is the castle. There are many ways you could get hurt out in the night."
  Now it was Joey's turn to place her hands on her hips. "Name one," she demanded.
  "Well let's see," Michelle replied, looking towards the ceiling while thinking. "You could fall down a ditch, get attacked by an animal, be poisoned by a serpent, be ambushed by an enemy kingdom..." She paused to suck in a breath. "Or," she continued, "you could-"
  "Stop," Joey commanded, raising her hand to silence her. "I said one not five."
  "Technically it was only four," Michelle corrected. She stepped closer to her sister. "Please, Joey. Please don't go. It's to dangerous. This castle is the only safe place for you."
  Joey backed away. "All you've ever done is try to protect me." She didn't even look her sister in the eyes. "I'm nineteen years old. I should be allowed to do what I want without you babying me." Joey stepped out of her sisters grasped, and backed away. She began to walk towards the door.
  "Joey, stop." Michelle reached out for Joey's arm, and grasped her by the forearm.
  "Michelle, let me go!" Joey wanted to shout, but decided to stay quiet.
  "Joey, I'm just trying to help you. I don't want to see you get hurt. Especially in my kingdom."
  "It's not your kingdom," Joey said with anger. "It's your husbands parents kingdom." Joey jerked away.
  Michelle signed. She dropped her hands to her side, and looked to the floor. "You are right, Joey. I shouldn't be babying you anymore." Michelle grinned slightly. "I guess I just miss how much I bossed you around back home."
  Joey couldn't help but laugh. "That's one good thing that's come from you leaving." Joey and Michelle laughed together. She suddenly felt sorry for how she acted towards her big sister. She swiftly placed her arms around her sister into a big embrace. "I'm sorry, Michelle. I shouldn't have gotten made at you." She let go of her sister. "I'll stay her for the night if that's what you want. I know you never approved of me sneaking out at night."
  Michelle smiled. "Thank you, Joey." She hugged her sister one last time, then left her chamber.
  When the doors closed, Joey cringed. She hated lying to her sister, but how else was she going to get to explore at night. It's not like she promised Michelle she'd stay in at night.
  Joey swiftly threw off the blankets from her bed, and tied them together. She tied one end to the bed post and the other she threw out the window. She stepped close to the window, and leaned over. It wasn't that far down, but if she fell she could seriously be injured. Joey stepped one foot out of the window then the other. She slowly began her descend to the ground, and on with her adventure.
