Evelyn takes the stand

Lucid dream. If this was a lucid dream, why I couldn't control it? No. As long as I am aware this could be considered as a lucid dream. I never knew that I was a lucid dreamer.

Maybe this wasn't a dream or a nightmare. If this was real, I wanted to see the manor where I supposed to live.

"Ms. Evelyn Feiro?" I looked at my lawyer when he called my attention.

I forgot. I am on the witness stand. Yeah. I should learn how to defend myself.

"Yes? " I tried not smile. I should look professional or at least not intimidated, or maybe l need to look pitiful in front of the judge.

"You live in the Everwade Manor, right?" my lawyer asked, he looked at me directly in the eye. It made me uncomfortable, I mean he was a snake and his snake-y eyes looked weird.

Come to think of it. His voice sounds familiar, not like I heard a talking snake before.

"Evelyn?" I looked at him and sit up straight.

"Yes. That was you said."

"And what are you doing on the night in question?"

"Studying. I have a math exam, so I was studying."

"Then what happened next? " He asked.

"I heard a thump, then I looked and saw him, lying outside," I heard them murmuring so I rolled my eyes. What was wrong with my answer? I looked at the prosecutor and she was smirking while my lawyer was hissing at her.

"What did you do?" My lawyer looked at me as if he was saying something through his gaze.

"I went outside and helped him," they gasped. What's with their reaction, seriously.

"Why? It was not wrong to help someone, tradition my foot. I didn't even know there was a tradition! What kind of tradition was that anyway? Hear me out and remember this, no matter what, helping wasn't bad!"

I said while standing on the chair. Everyone looked horrified, but to be honest that felt good. Mr. Balelsky, my lawyer, looked like he was going to have a heart attack.

"Order! Defendant, go back to your chair!" Judge said. I smiled at everyone, including that guy while some creature were escorting me.

We ended up in the office. Now, this felt like I was in a guidance office for a bad behavior. I was a defendant anyway.

"So. What was gonna happen?" I asked him, but he only gave me a sigh.

This wasn't good. I could see my lawyer's eye, he was definitely disappointed in me. And I was definitely disappointed in myself. I should just keep my mouth shut. But I couldn't lie, that was perjury! I mean perjury didn't exist in this world, but I like the word. Besides, I need them to know how I feel.

"You shouldn't have done that! " He reprimanded me.

"I know that, but they were very annoying! I wasn't a bad person they act like I tried to kill the guy. Would they like if I just left him there to die? What was my crime anyway? Was helping him, my crime? " I still couldn't believe it, I might ask that question over and over again, until the day I die.

If I could just control my dreams. I could win this case easy-peasy. Maybe I could even be the judge and put everyone in jail.

"Evelyn. We didn't know for sure what the judge will decide, but I am begging you to keep your mouth shut," he said with pleading eyes.

"You know, it was hard to keep a promise," I said.

It was true. I didn't think, I could shut up. I mean, if this dream—nightmare continues until they put me to jail, I was going to lose my mind. I wouldn't stop screaming.

"I am here to help you, but you also need to help yourself," he reminded me.

Now. This was somewhat familiar, the voice. When did I heard that voice, and come to think of it. If I looked closer the elf woman seems familiar, I didn't know about the stupid guy.

I guess, I am closer to losing my mind.

"I know, " I replied.

Here we are waiting for the verdict, they looked biased. I didn't have to hear it, but who knows, maybe there was a miracle and I could be free. Then, I would wake up and everything's gonna be alright. Except, my math exams.

I wondered, what kind of sentence they give everyone who ended up guilty? Jail, how much money they needed to pay. Did these people and creatures even know what money was?

"Evelyn. Remember everything I said," he reminded me again. I nodded in response.

Honestly, I didn't remember what he said. Except, me needing to keep my mouth shut at all times. That was it.

This place was boring. There was no food, and I was getting hungry. What kind of food did they have here?

"I am hungry," I whispered.

"Focus on the important things!" My lawyer said.

I couldn't focus when I am hungry, he should know that he was my lawyer and also when did I first meet him?

"When did we first meet Mr. Balelsky? Was this case pro-bono? " I asked but he didn't answer.

My mind was running in circles, this thing sometimes happened whenever I was nervous. I guess, I was kind of nervous.

Ugh. I should've just kept my mouth shut! Now, I started to feel fidgety. I might even throw up.

" I think, I am nervous. I might throw up!" I said to him.

"Calm yourself. Breath in, breath out," he said.

I didn't know if it was working, but I just tried it to calm myself down.

After a few minutes, someone knocked at the door and when Mr. Balelsky opened it was a guy and an elf! He looked cute, and he kinds looked scared at me. Why? Maybe he was new here.

"They reached a verdict," the elf guy said.

We looked at each other and I gulped.
