Third Person's POV

We start in the Thorndyke Mansion as everyone is sleeping peacefully. Suddenly, they are roused by the sound of a loud engine from outside "What's that?" Chris asks and Tanaka and Ella race outside, the latter with a frying pan, in order to stop the intruder. But they see that it is Sam Speed, who blocks Ella's frying pan and Tanaka's karate with ease "Back off! relax! Lighten up! It's me!" Sam said and Chuck appears in the doorway "Blasted Sam. Don't you have any idea what time it is?" Chuck asks "Sure I do! It's morning" Sam said "It's 3 AM" Chuck said  "So it's a little early" Sam said "You're lucky I held myself back. I was just about to batter you like a chicken cutlet" Ella said and yawns and heads back into the house "I'm going back to bed" Tanaka said and departs as well "I hope you didn't wake the neighbors" Chuck said an then notices a crowd gathering behind Sam "Nice. They're all up" Chuck said and also sees a few helicopters flying overhead. Chris walks onto the balcony, where Sonic and Brody have also been awoken. The former rubs his eyes "What's going on?" Chris asks and sees an even larger group of people on the sides of the street, as wells a few police cars "Where'd all those people come from?" Chris asks "Beats us" Sonic and Brody said "Hey Sam, isn't that a new car?" Chuck asks "I'm here to challenge Sonic and Brody to a road race!" Sam said "A race?" Sonic, Brody and Chris ask "Hold on! This is a rocket engine!" Chuck said "That's the SS III Super Rocket Engine. It was designed by top engineers in the Office of Science and Technology. Over a billion dollars went into its development" Sam said and points at Sonic and Brody "Sonic and Brody, I'm gonna prove once and for all that I'm the fastest guy on the planet!" Sam said "Sonic, Brody, are you two gonna race against my uncle Sam?" Chris asks and Sonic and Brody stand up "We are not interested" Sonic and Brody said and head inside "Hey, wait! You know, for a hedgehog and wolf, you two sure are spineless!" Sam said and goes after Sonic and Brody.

At Chuck's Lab, Sam throws open the door to the lab, with Chuck shortly behind "Hey, Sonic! Brody! We have a race!" Sam said and awakens Tails and Turbo, who were sleeping cuddled up to each other "Wha?!" Tails asks "Morning already?" Turbo asks sleppy and Chuck tells the story to Tails and Turbo "Sonic and Brody say they won't race, see?" Chuck said "They will race. The starting line will be in front of this house. From here we'll speed downtown, straight through the heart of Station Square. After we blast across the bridge out of the city, the competition will really heat up as we zoom through the desert and navigate the twists and turns of the canyon. A hairpin turn will lead us back to the city. The winner will be the one who reaches the stadium first. There'll be thousand of fans to cheer us on, including the President waiting at the finishing line" Sam said "The President?" Chris asks "He's gonna congratulate the winner on live TV" Sams said "But why would the government let Uncle Sam use a rocket for a race with Sonic and Brody?" Chris asks "The S3 was expensive, and they think the race will increase taxpayer support for the project" Chuck said "Yeah. You got it" Sam said and Brody who was reclining on Chuck's chair up to this point, speaks while Sonic's on his lap "Except we're not gonna race" Brody said "Oh? What's the matter, Brody? Are you and Sonic afraid that when our race is over, you two'll be known as the second fastest guy on the planet? I'm not gonna take no for an answer, Brody, and I won't let up until you two agree to race me!" Sam said and Chris facepalms "Why couldn't I have a normal family?" Chris asks "Look, Sam, you can't expect Station Square to shut down just so you three can have a race" Chuck said "Oh yeah? You wanna bet? " Sam asks and the TV turns on, showing Scarlet Garcia "They're just about ready for the big race at Station Square. The streets will soon be completely clear of traffic, and an enormous crowd is gathering all along the course, waiting for the race to start" Scarlet said and Nelson and Lindsey Thorndyke appear on the screen "They're cheering now for the sponsors of today's race - the popular movie star Lindsey Fair, and her handsome mogul husband Nelson Thorndyke" Scarlet said "This keeps getting worse..." Chris said "I'll bet my nightcap that you're uncle's the one who got them involved in this ridiculous race" Chuck said "Well, Sonic and Brody? You're not gonna disappoint that crowd, are ya? They've been waiting for hours to see us go human-to-hedgehog and wolf!" Sam said "Go race someone you can beat" Sonic said "You can complain all you want but we are not racing" Brody said "You heard the wolf" Sonic said "You two are so irritating!" Sam said frustrated.

*Meanwhile at the White House*

Jerome is asleep. He begins sleep-hugging and kissing "Hello, my dear..." Jerome said and the sound of the phone ringing awakens him, shucking him out of bed. Massaging his head, he answers the phone "Yeah? Who's this?" Jerome asks "Sonic and Brody won't race me! Do something! The President should order them to compete!" Sam yells and hangs up "Hello?" Jerome asks and puts the phone down "Eh... Sonic and Brody won't race..." Jerome said and crawls back into bed "That's too bad. Uh, if they won't race... " He said and then has a double take "Wha?! If Sonic and Brody don't race Sam Speed, my career's over!" Jerome said and envisions an angry crowd "The President lied about the race, so kick him out in disgrace!" The crowd said "The President will probably be impeached before the next election, and all because Sonic and Brody won't race! ... We've got to do something! We'll call out the military!" Jerome said and envisions the military "The army! The navy! And the air force! Mwahahaha! That should help convince Sonic and Brody to change their minds! ... No. The Secretary of Defense will probably make a fuss about it" Jerome said then he has an idea "I know! I'll go over his head!" Jerome said and then a satellite is seen locating the Egg Fort II.

*At the Egg Fort II*

Eggman is playing chess with a robot "And that is checkmate" the robot said "Rrrgh, you cheater!" Eggman said "Loser" the robot said "Whaaat?! I built you, and I can unbuild you!" Eggman said and grabs the robot and begins shaking it "I'll checkmate you, you pawn!" Eggman said "I promise that I will let you win next time, Doctor" the robot said "There won't be a next time" Eggman said when Jerome Wise appears on his screen. He is wearing a hat and coat to hide his identity "Doctor Eggman, I have a proposition for you" Jerome said "Oh yeah? Who are you?" Eggman asks "That doesn't matter. Now, you wanna settle the score with Sonic and Brody?" Jerome asks "Yes. Maybe" Eggman said "What if I told you that Sonic and Brody have been challenged to race against a hi-tech rocket car designed by the government?" Jerome asks "Really? Is that so?" Eggman asks "In fact, Sonic and Brody are so scared they'll be defeated that they turned us down" Jerome said and Eggman drops the robot and places his hands on his hips "Oh? And so you need me to get Sonic and Brody in the race? That's it?" Eggman asks "You convince Sonic and Brody to enter that race, and I'll get you front-row seats to an ice show" Jerome said "You're joking right?" Eggman asks when Bocoe and Decoe race up to him "I love figure skating!" Decoe said "Please, can we go?" Bocoe asks "We'll work day and night without complaining!" Decoe said "Not even behind your back like we usually do!" Bocoe said and Eggman groans "All right... But how do I know this isn't some kind of elaborate trick you're playing on me?" Eggman asks "Uh..." Jerome said and removes his shades and puts on Bambi eyes "Look in my eyes and you'll see I'm sincere!" Jerome said "Okay fine! Just stop doing that. I'll need a robot to stop Sonic and Brody" Eggman said and turns to the robot he was previously playing chess with "Me?" The robot asks "I'll rebuild this one into a model that forces Sonic and Brody to enter the race" Eggman said "No! Please! Doctor! Not me!" The robot said.

*Back at outside the thondyke mansion*

Sam is sitting in his car. Tails, Turbo, Amy, and Chris are checking it out "It's cool!" Tails and Turbo said "It does look fast" Amy said "My uncle Sam wouldn't drive it if it weren't cool and fast" Chris said when suddenly he hears the sound of Bokkun's laughing. He turns and sees Bokkun hovering there "Oh, brother..." Chris said "Where's Sonic and Brody? I have to see them now. I brought a message with me!" Bokkun said and Brody is reclining on the railing of the balcony. Bokkun lands in front of him.

"Wake up! I have a message for ya both!" Bokkun said and Brody stands up and gets ready to make a run for it and Sonic hides behind him "Relax! I promise this one isn't gonna blow up in the end" Bokkun said "All right... What is it?" Sonic asks "You better enter that race, Sonic and Brody, or else you'll have to face this!" Bokkun said and reaches into his bag and pulls out the robot from earlier; only it has a giant set of lips "Hi there!" The robot said and Sonic and Brody leap off the railing and run to the opposite side and the robot runs towards them and it leaps into the air toward them. Sonic and Brody dodge the attack, causing it to kiss the railing while Bokkun is laughing hysterically and Sonic and Brody leap onto a chair, but the robot jumps onto the table right in front of them "Yuck! I don't wanna take any lip from that robot!" Brody said and Bokkun is still laughing and Sam revs the motor and Sonic and Brody remember Sam's words from earlier "I'm not gonna take no for an answer, Sonic and Brody, and I won't let up until you two agree to race me!" Sam said "And We'll race!" Sonic and Brody said and the robot flies toward him, but Sonic and Brody leap off the balcony, causing the robot to kiss Bokkun instead. As Sam revs the motor again, Sonic and Brody head over to the car, where Chris and Chuck are gathered "Are you gonna play with that pedal all day?" Sonic asks and Chris and Chuck look up in surprise "Or are we gonna have a race?" Brody asks and Sam smirks.

*Later at the Starting line*

The Thorndykes and Sonic and Brody's friends are among the spectators at the starting line "I just don't get it. What made Sonic and Brody change their minds?" Amy asks "I guess they couldn't resist the challenge" Tails said and Chuck is holding the green flag "On your mark... Get set..." Chuck said and the racers prepare themselves. Chuck waves the flag "GO!" Chuck said and immediately Sam's car takes off, causing Sonic and Brody to choke on the dust "That's the spirit" Sonic and Brody said and they take off after Sam.

Scarlet Garcia is giving live coverage of the race "This is Scarlet Garcia reporting from News Chopper 1. We now continue out live coverage of the road race of the century as Sonic the Hedgehog and Brody the Wolf take on Sam Speed. After a delayed start, the racers left the Thorndyke Mansion and are now speeding through downtown Station Square" Scarlet said and Sonic, Brody and Sam are racing neck and neck "Hey, Sam!" Sonic said "Yeah, what?" Sam asks "I thought this was supposed to be a road race, but your rocket car doesn't even touch the asphault! What's up? That thing doesn't even have wheels!" Brody said as the car has the appearance of having no tires "Yeah? Look close" Sam said and at a closer inspection, Sonic and Brody see that the car does in fact have tires; they are just hidden out of sight "You see? The wheels guide the glide" Sam said "What if you get a flat?" Sonic asks and the three soon approach the city "Our racers are about to enter the most dangerous part of the course as they steer through these narrow streets at super-high speed. But is the rocket car maneuverable enough to make those hypervelocity turns?" Scarlet asks "It'll be easy" Sam said "Oh yeah? Then prove it!" Sonic and Brody said and the two race ahead of Sam and easily leave him behind "Great. Sonic and Brody are gone way ahead. Commence Project Straightaway now!" Sam said "Roger" An officer said and several garage doors open, and Sam drives right through them. He laughs "Sorry, Sonic and Brody, but being chief of the S-Team gives me the kind of class that allows me to open doors in this city. Hahaha!" Sam said and Sonic and Brody emerge from another side street to see that Sam has passed them and they catch up "That wasn't fair!" Sonic said "Tough luck" Sam said and Sonic and Brody leap onto the front of the rocket car and relax, completely obstructing Sam's view "Get off of my hood, Sonic and Brody!" Sam said "Ah... Nice breeze here" Sonic said "Hitching a ride is against the rules!" Sam said "Tough luck" Brody said "Hrgh" Sam said and chuckles "Okay, you got me. But would you mind moving to the back some so I can see where I'm going? Thank you" Sam said and Sonic and Brody stand up and move to the top of the car "Right here?" Sonic asks "Further back" Sam said and Sonic and Brody move to the back of the car "How's this?" Brody asks "Great. Right there'll do just fine" Sam said and presses a button that activates a spring that sends Brody and Sonic flying and Sam laughs.

"Bye Sonic and Brody!" Sam said "Strange. What are Sonic and Brody doing? Why are they going the wrong way? It certainly is an odd tactic" Scarlet said.

Meanwhile on the Egg Fort II Eggman is watching the race "Hahahaha! That rocket car is my kind of mean machine. Have to try that spring trick on Sonic and Brody myself" Eggman said and pulls out a notebook and writes in it "Okay. Go, Sumo-Man!" Eggman said.

Back on the race, the race continues into the desert. Sonic and Brody catch up "That can't be Sonic and Brody!" Sam said when suddenly a massive dust cloud can be seen ahead, and E-45 Sumo:Man emerges from it "You may not pass! Turn back!" Sumo man said "A roadblock?" Sonic and Brody ask "Hey!" Sam said and presses a button that rotates the rocket car's wings "Turn back or be destroyed! ... Take that!" Sumo man said but Sam has passed Sumo-Man and is driving away "Sucker!" Sam said and next up is Sonic and Brody "Stop now! ... I order you to halt and reverse your course now!" Sumo man said but Sonic and Brody pass him by as well "How could I have missed Sonic and Brody?! Dr. Eggman will punish me! I had better punish myself first!" Sumo man said and slaps himself into the air.

Back at the Egg Fort II, Bokkun is crying "That robot kissed me!!" Bokkun said "Bokkun, It might have been a lot worse, you know. You could have accidentally been kissed by Doctor Eggman" Decoe said "What a revolting thought" Bocoe said "We blew it!" Eggman said "Well, don't blame me! I did my job!" The robot said "Kiss off, you clown!" Eggman said when Sumo-Man collides with the Egg Fort II, creating a great explosion. The robot behind kissing Eggman "Are you all right? Let me kiss it and make it better..." the robot said "Mwah... Mwah... Mwah..." he said.

Back at the race, the three are neck and neck one again. Sam checks his watch "Wow. It's already lunchtime" Sam said and a compartment opens inside the car, and a tray containing a burger and soda extends out. Sam takes a bite of the burger "Hey, ya... you want a bite?" Sam asks Sonic and Brody "No thanks!" Sonic and Brody said and they run ahead "Come to think of it, We are pretty hungry" Brody said and Sonic nodded  "Hey, Sonic! Brody!" Chris said making Sonic and Brody look up to see the X-Tornado. Chris is in the second seat, holding out a container of food "Ella sent some ham sandwiches and milk for ya both!" Chris said "Wow, Chris, thanks! That looks deli--" Sonic said when suddenly Sam drives past Sonic and Brody, coating them, Chris, and the food in sand "My bad, heh!" Sam said and Sonic and Brody shake the sand off them "We'll pass on the sandwich!" Brody said "Sorry, Sonic and Brody. See you at the finish line" Chris said "Right!" Sonic and Brody said and as the X-Tornado flies away, Sam, Brody and Sonic increase their speed "This road race is still up for grabs as our racers prepare to speed through the canyon" Scarlet said and the three racers head off a cliff, turn around at the turning point, and leap back onto the cliff "Our racers have reached the halfway point and are now speeding back toward Station Square. Sonic, Brody and Sam Speed are still running neck-and-neck" Scarlet said.

At the finish line, as photographers prepare for a photo finish, Jerome checks his watch "What's taking the President so long? The race is going to finish soon" Jerome said and his cell phone rings and he answers it "Hello? ... What? But can't the President hold his emergency security meeting later? ... All right. If it can't be changed..." Jerome said and hangs up "I'll fill in" He said and begins imagining vain thoughts "It's just as well. I'm more photogenic than the President anyway. In fact, I'm more lovable than my boring boss too! I can use this race to launch my own campaign. Then the world will call me Mr. President!" Jerome said and laughs aloud "What are you laughing at?" Amy asks "Oh, nothing..." Jerome said and continues giggling, and Amy shrugs.

Back at the race, "Now, the three challengers are racing into the city, and pulling out all the stops as they speed toward the stadium!" Scarlet said and the crowd cheers. The Thorndykes and Sonic and Brody's friends appear nervous "Come on, Sonic and Brody" Amy said "All right... It's rocket time!!" Sam said and bursts ahead "Look out! Sam Speed is pulling away!" Scarlet said "Oh yeah?" Sonic and Brody ask and they speed ahead too, and cross the finish line. It is indeed a photo finish. The crowd cheers "Well, it looks like we have a tie! That was close! The judges will examine photos to see if they can determine a winner. The results will be posted on the stadium monitor" Scarlet said and the big screen shows Sonic and Brody leaping over the finish line tape, posing for the camera, then heading back for a photo finish. Sonic and Brody smugly rub under their noses, and Sam looks shocked "Amazing! Sonic and Brody not only crossed the finish line first;  they went back for an encore! Sonic and Brody are the winner!" Scarlet said "Congratulations!" Amy said and Sonic and Brody hug each other "Oh, Sonic and Brody" The duo hear and look up to see Nelson and Lindsey Thorndyke. Nelson claps "Well done" Lindsey said and hands them a bouquet of roses "Thanks a lot" Sonic and Brody said and they and Sam exchange a wink and thumbs-up "Sonic and Brody!" The duo hear and they look up to see Jerome "That was just great" Jerome said and Sonic and Brody look at the cameras "Sonic! Brody! Shake my hand. Hurry up so they can take our picture together" Jerome whispers and Sonic and Brody grit their teeth. Just then Jerome's cell phone rings and he answers it "Hello? ... Oh, hi there, Vivian! ... What? I'm under investigation for negotiating with Dr. Eggman?" Jerome asks and immediately the press begins taking photos "No! There's no way I'll be President now!" Jerome said and groans and Sonic and Brody shrug as this chapter comes to an end.
