Third Persons POV

"Hey, Emel... Wake up!" Bokkun said as a mechanical being as it opens its eyes and sees Bokkun looking at it. However, its view is blurry. It is revealed that they are inside Eggman's old base, and Bokkun is speaking to a robot "I said wake up!! You can hear me, can't ya? Turn yourself on! What's the matter with ya? Did your brain short circuit? Come on, get up! We've got an important mission to carry out, and there's no time to lose!" Bokkun said and the robot's dim blue eyes glow slightly, and it nods "Good. I hope your batteries are all charged up, 'cause we're gonna have a really busy day" Bokkun said and the robot slowly stands up. Spots of light appear in its eyes "I'm in charge of this operation, so you have to obey all my commands, okay?" Bokkun asks and the robot nods. Bokkun hovers above the ground in excitement "All right, Emerl! Let's go!" Bokkun said and flies over to a garage door. The robot breaks free of its wire restraints and follows Bokkun and Bokkun giggles and presses the button that opens the garage door, flooding the room with bright sunlight "We're gonna give Sonic and Brody a real bach today! Forward, march!" Bokkun said and laughs as they leave the base together.

Meanwhile in Station Square, various people are running around the park. Some of them are wearing Sonic and Brody-themed shirts. Scarlet Garcia is on the scene "City Park has been overrun -- overrun by fitness fans obsessed with running. This new craze is all thanks to Sonic the Hedgehog and Brody the Wolf. Their heroics are inspiring thousands of people to put on their jogging shoes and run for fun" Scarlet said and speaks to one of the runners "Why did you decide to take up running, sir?" Scarlet asks and the man wipes his sweat "Uh, I don't know. Sonic and Brody have such a great time racing around, I thought I'd try" The man said.

Meanwhile at the Thorndyke Mansion living room, the TV is tuned to the news station. Cream and Cheese are playing with toy blocks, and Chrs is reading. Vanilla is also present "School officials and athletic coaches report that their track programs are more popular than ever, and new records are being set daily. Experts in sports psychology by the sudden turn of events-" Scarlet said "Brody! Where are you?" Sonic asks entering the room "Hi Sonic" Chris said "What's wrong Mr. Sonic?" Cream asks "I woke up to find Brody's gone. Did you guys see him?" Sonic asks "Yeah, earlier but he didn't say where he was going why do you ask?" Chris asks "Because today we have a date.....I hope he's not standing me up" Sonic said and just then, the doorbell rings "Brody?" Sonic asks and races toward the door and opens it but alas, it is not Brody who stands there, but Sam Speed instead "Hey, is Brody around, Sonic? I just put a new engine in my car and he said he'd race me" Sam said and Sonic blinks in surprise "I can't wait! My new engine runs on high-octane rocket fuel! It's got more horsepower than you can find in a rodeo. With this baby under the hood, I'll be taking a victory lap before Brody leaves the starting line! You wanna join the race too Sonic?" Sam asks and Chris, Cream, and Cheese have joined Sonic at the door "Hi, Uncle Sam" Chris said "I hope Sonic and Brody are not getting cold feet. When I called in this morning, Brody said he dodn't have anything else to do today" Sam said and Sonic frowns "What's wrong Sonic?" Sam asks "He's upset because Brody missed their date" Chris said "Well, that's a bummer. Looks like Brody made two different appointments and stood both of us up" Sam said "That doesn't sound like Brody" Sonic said and huffs "That's it! Come on Sam I'll race you!" Sonic said annoyed "All right, Sonic. Let's show Brody we don't need him to have fun" Sam said "Hold on, Uncle Sam..." Chris said "Don't worry. We'll be back by nighttime. I leave fast, but I also return fast" Sam said and Sonic runs off and the car goes after him.

Later at the countryside, "I can't believe Brody really forgot our date..." Sonic said "Ahh... This wind is really refreshing" Sam said "Even Eggman's in prison so why would he take off without me?" Sonic asks "This new engine is great, and it get awesome mileage too!" Sam said "I know he can't stay still for long, I'm like that too" Sonic said and there are curves in the road ahead "Whoa, S-turns! Wait'll you see how this baby handles!" Sam said "Oh right, we were racing?" Sonic said unsure and runs around the curves and Sam skillfully navigates his car around the curves "Aren't you worrying too much about it? I'm sure he had a reason" Sam said "Yeah I guess" Sonic said "....Where are we going again?" Sonic asks "You just name it" Sam said "The beach!" Sonic said "Aren't you scared of water?" Sam asks "Water not the sand!" Sonic said "Then we'll coast to the coast" Sam said "All right. Thank you. One more thing: let's agree not to talk about Brody, okay?" Sonic asks "The wolf is now history" Sam said.

*Meanwhile at a prison*

Eggman, Bocoe, and Decoe, dressed in jail suits and are eating prison food "Prison food is the pits!" Eggman said "This looks more like sewage than soup!" Decoe said "It is lucky for us that we have no taste circuits" Bocoe said and Eggman taps his spoon on the rim of his bowl "I'm hungry! Bring me more!" Eggman said and Decoe and Bocoe do the same "We demand refills now!" Decoe said "Hurry up, waiter!" Bocoe said and a prison guard comes along "Can it, or I'll throw you in solitary! Dinner time is over!" A prison guard said and the prisoners grasp the bars of their cell "Don't you realize a genius like me needs more food than the average person? My superior brain burns up millions of calories!" Eggman said "This kind of treatment is inhuman!" Decoe said "And it is bad for robots, too!" Bocoe said "Knock it off! This is a prison, not a four-star restaurant!" A prison guard said but the prisoners rattle the bars of their cell "Here! Now pipe down!" The prison guard said and places the two buckets of food in front of the cell and walks away. They begin serving themselves "Slop some of that slop in my bowl!" Eggman said. Soon they are eating more food "One more meal like this and I am going to self-destruct" Bocoe said "I wish we were back at the base. I am dying for a drink of motor oil" Decoe said "We cannot take much more of this. When are we gonna get out of here, Doctor?" Bocoe asks "Relax. We'll be checking out of this dump any minute" Eggman said quietly.

Meanwhile at a shipping yard, "If everything goes according to plan, our breakout team is about to give Sonic and Brody the runaround" Eggman said. Brody is running through the shipping yard "Of all the times to bother me, it had to be today!" Brody said and is forced to stop as a tank explodes out of one of the warehouses. A laughing Bokkun stands atop the tank "What a coincidence, running into you!" Bokkun said and it is revealed that the robot is hooked up inside the tank. Its eyes glow red as opposed to their original blue "I'm going to defeat Brody today! Charge!" Bokkun said and the tank speeds toward Brody, who leaps clear over it. The tank's cannon turns toward Brody "Fire!" Bokkun said and the cannon fire a shell at Brody, who leans back to avoid it and Brody limbos underneath two more shells. He seems to be enjoying himself - until Brody finds himself staring up the tank's barrel. Bokkun giggles "Get him!" Bokkun said and the cannon fires, prompting Bokkun to cover his ears. When he looks up, he sees a smoldering hole in the ground "All right!" Bokkun said but he sees Brody casually relaxing on the side of the tank. He soon takes off running as the tank pursues him "Wait!" Bokkun said and fires shell after shell at Brody, who dodges them easily "Hold it, wolf! ... Yeah! Keep firing! Hahahaha!" Bokkun said.

Meanwhile at the countryside, Sonic and Sam find themselves surrounded by a flock of bleating sheep "Oh great. ... Didn't you tell me you knew a shortcut to the beach?" Sonic asks "Heheh, sure, but I didn't say I was taking it, did I?" Sam asks "I bet you're lost, aren't you!" Sonic said "Hey, I never get lost. I just can't figure out where I am sometimes" Sam said and laughs, and the sheep continue bleating 'Great' Sonic thinks.

At a general store, a dusty Sonic enters the store "I need a map" Sonic said and the old man stand up "Sure thing. Looks to me you could use a bath too" The old man said "Yeah" Sonic said and as he tries to pat the worst of the dust off of him, Sam appears in the doorway "I guess I should've put the top down when we went down that dirt road" Sam said "We're not taking any more shortcuts. I'm buying a map and I'm gonna figure out the best route to get to the beach" Sonic said "Ah, what have we here?" Sam asks and removes the leaf and blows it away and the old man approaches them. He has a bag and a map in his hand "So you are Sonic, I thought you looked familiar" The old man said "Yup it's me" Sonic said "You and Brody are close right?" The old man asks "Hehe yeah, we are boyfriends" Sonic said "But he stood him up" Sam said and infuriated at the memory, Sonic stomps on Sam's foot, causing him to cry out in pain and hobble outside "I owe your boyfriend Brody more than I could ever repay" The old man said "Why? What did Brody do for you?" Sonic asks.

*The ranch-flashback*

The old man's grandson is clinging to the back of a runaway horse, with the old man chasing and falling behind "Help! I can't stop the horse!" The grandson said "Stop!" The old man said and falls to his knees and gasps for air "Help me, Grandpa!" The grandson said "Now what'll I do?" The old man asks and Brody races in and stops right in front of the horse, causing it to buck. He then grabs the grandson... "Gotcha!" Brody said and returns him to his grandfather. They hug "Steven!" The old man said "Grandpa!" The grandson said and Brody pats the grandson. Brody gives a thumbs-up as the flashback ends.

*End of flashback*

"Heh, sounds like him" Sonic said smiling "The welcome mat will always be out on my front porch for Brody the Wolf. And any friend of Brody's a friend of mine, especially his boyfriend. Here, take it, and some candy too, with my compliments" The old man said and hands the map and bag to Sonic. He waves as he runs off and Sam drives after him "Thanks for everything!" Sonic said "Bye! Tell Brody I said hey!" The old man said.

Once on the road again, Sonic opens the bag "It's full of candy" Sonic said "He gave you a gift, but you're still in a bad mood" Sam said "Brody is the one who should've received this" Sonic said  "For you and him helping people is common practice. I doubt he remembers the incident" Sam said and laughs and Sonic selects a chocolate bar "Heh chocolate...his favorite" Sonic said and puts it back in the bag and grabs a candy and eats it "You know, I just remembered something. Brody and I are supposed to have our race tonight, not today" Sam said "What?" Sonic asks "I forget sometimes. I guess when you move as fast as I do, it's hard for your memory to keep up with you" Sam said and laughs 'What am I thinking? There's no way Brody forgot our date' Sonic thinks and smiles a little 'My silly wolf is probably gonna apologize a lot....he's such a sweetheart' He thinks.

Back at the shipping yard, Brody is still on the run from Bokkun's tank "Get ready for the tele-blast! Fire!" Bokkun said and fires a barrage of exploding TVs at Brody, who avoids them and runs up the wall of a warehouse before leaping off toward Bokkun "Look out below!" Brody said "Don't hurt me!" Bokkun said and the robot's eyes glow red. Brody lands on the barrel of the tank and ties it in a knot. Two giant hands emerge from the sides of the tank and trap Brody within them.

Then the hands throw him into a stack of crates. The tank approaches the crates, and its hands smash them. Brody dodges "Let's give Brody a hand!" Bokkun said and the tank's hands extend toward Brody. As they reach him, the wolf leaps onto them and rides them back to the sender. The hands try to grab Brody, but they twist with each other, causing the tank to fall on its side. Bokkun is thrown clear of the tank "Thanks to you, I'm running late for my date with Sonic!" Brody said frowning and kicks the side of the tank, and a TV extends out of it. It crackles before exploding, taking the tank with it. Bokkun flies away from the smoke "I fooled you! While you were runnin' away from me, another robot was breaking Dr. Eggman out of prison!" Bokkun said and starts to fly away, but Brody chucks a part of the tank at him, causing him to fall to the ground. Brody emerges from the smoke "Another robot?" Brody asks and looks inside the ruins of the tank. The robot is no longer there.

Meanwhile at a cafe, while Sam is inside the cafe, Sonic is sitting on the hood of the car "I hope he's not worried about me missing" Sonic said and Sam returns with two ice cream cones. He hands one to Sonic "Here" Sam said "Thanks" Sonic said and they begin eating "You're like us, aren't you?" Sonic asks "I wish. When you and Brody wants to hit the road, all you two need are your feet. Unfortunately, I can't travel very fast without a car" Sam said "No car in the world can keep up with us when we're running at full speed" Sonic said "Yeah, you're right" Sam said "Then why race us?" Sonic asks "Hey, you still have to try" Sam said "Fair enough" Sonic said. Suddenly a giant vehicle known as the Bomb Tank speeds down the road. Sam and Sonc soon speed after it "Roger. I'll stay on its tail" Sam said on radio "Headquarters thinks that machine's headed for the jail where Eggman's locked up!" He said "That thing'll break in so Eggman can break out! If we let that thing get into the city, Eggman'll be on the loose again. We've gotta stop it somehow, Sam!" Sonic said "You're right, but my car is no match for an armored beast like that" Sam said "If you distract him, I'll stop him!" Sonic said "Okay, then hang on, Sonic" Sam said and presses a few buttons "I changed to Racing Mode!" Sam said and Sonic runs ahead as the vehicle changes shape. The wheels move closer together. An exhaust appears, and wings extends out of the sides of the car "Now let's chase that mean machine down and run it off the road!" Sam said.

Sam now wears his helmet. The added speed allows him to gain on the Bomb Tank, but is still not quite enough. Eventually Sam gets behind the robot and Sonic runs far ahead and then charges at the Bomb Tank and spindashes through it and lands on Sam's car and they watch as the Bomb Tank crackles and explodes "We did it!" Sonic said "Great work, Sonic!" Sam said and Sonic jumps off and starts running again and they feel the wind rushing at them "Isn't this a great feeling?" Sam asks "You bet it is!" Sonic said.

Back at Eggman's prison, Bokkun is now in the prison with the others and grins sheepishly as the others glare at him "Don't be angry at me. It isn't my fault you're still in jail. Honest!" Bokkun said and starts crying.

Later at the Beach, Sonic and Sam are enjoying the sunset at the beach "You know... This turned out to be one of the best dates I've ever had" Sam said "Yeah" Sonic said and they glance at each other "Thank you, Sam. If it wasn't for you, I would have spent all day feeling down" Sonic said "Yeah but day's not over and I should take my leave now. I'll race you two some other day" Sam said and drives away "Huh?" Sonic asks confused and gets hug from behind by Brody "I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to get here late for our date!" Brody said and Sonic giggles "It's okay my silly wolf, I worried for nothing. Here" Sonic said taking out a chocolate bar "Chocolate!" Brody said happy and eats it fast "Is there more?" Brody asks, his tail wagging "Hehe yeah, but you'll have to carry me for a run on the beach" Sonic said and Brody chuckles.

"You don't even need to ask babe!" Brody said and picks up Sonic and runs off making Sonic laugh softly and he rests his head on Brody's chest smiling.

Meanwhile outside the Thorndyke Mansion, Cream is taking a walk with Cheese "It's getting late, Cheese. We'd better go inside or Ella will get worried. I hope she's cooking us a big dinner tonight because all that playing made me hungry" Cream said and becomes aware of a movement in the bushes "Hey, look..." Cream said "Chao..." Cheese said and Cream peeks in to see the robot. Its eyes are back to its normal shade of blue as this chapter comes to an end.
