Chapter 5 - You Will be Mine

Ayano stared down at Shin's body, clutching her knife tightly in her hand. Her victim was twitching, and had one final full body twitch when a huge spurt of blood gushed from his stomach, before he went still and blood stopped leaking from him. Ayano was a bit startled, but overall she was very proud of herself. Her first rival for her new Senpai was dead, and better, she had satisfied her urge to kill... for now. She looked at her gym uniform — it was covered in blood. Well, shit. I'm sure they won't mind if I wear a swimsuit instead, Ayano thought as she picked up Shin's body. Her knees almost buckled. Wow, he was heavier than she expected. Despite that, she ran towards the incinerator. When she finally got there, the delinquents weren't there yet. They must all have detention again. Ayano smiled as she threw him into the incinerator, gasping for breath. Her arms hurt from carrying Shin so far. Dumping a body was easier said than done! She had quite a while before club activities started, so she ran past the delinquents and went to change her clothes. She pulled off her gym uniform and went to take a bath, spent about ten minutes washing off all the blood, then changed into her swimsuit. At least her goggles weren't bloody. She picked up her bloody gym uniform and carried it to the incinerator, ignoring the confused and irritated remarks from the delinquents. One of the delinquents seemed to be staring at her. Purple Streak's eyes followed Ayano, but not suspiciously. Ayano was unable to detect the emotion in her eyes before she dumped her uniform, turned on the incinerator and ran away to go to club activities. Shin, obviously, was never seen or heard from again, and with Ayano having disposed of the evidence, it seemed like he just vanished from school.

Shin's mysterious disappearance had a heavy impact on Oka, as the two had known each other since elementary school. She had no suspicion that Ayano had something to do with it, even though she was the last person she saw with him, because she trusted her too much to accuse her of doing something to her best friend. On Friday, as she walked down the hall, Oka pondered how she felt about Ayano. The small romantic sensation she had felt for her had faded completely, and now she only saw her as a close friend. However, her passion for Taro was even stronger than before. He was so perfect. His hair, his smile, his voice, they were all perfect. She planned her confession to him and smiled. She walked through the halls that morning, looking at little details she had never seen before as she walked up the stairs and onto the rooftop to spy on the Basu sisters.

Ayano followed Oka, basically stalking her even though they were friends. She thought about how she would confess to Oka, and if she would accept her feelings. She had a precaution to take if she rejected her, but was hoping her Oka-senpai loved her back genuinely. She had no more feelings for Taro, although a tiny voice in her mind told her he was still her true Senpai. She ignored them and continued stalking Oka, smiling. Ayano loved her Senpai more than anything in the world. She was so sweet and pretty, and Ayano wanted nothing more than for them to be together and be happy. She quietly followed her senpai up the stairs and sat on the bench next to her, reading Life Note again. She pictured herself as the protagonist, making the world a better place by erasing her rivals from existence. She smiled as she read until the class bell rang, and waved to everyone on the rooftop as she left to go to class. She couldn't focus on her schoolwork, Oka taking up all of her thoughts.

After school, Oka went to leave a confession letter in Taro's locker, but saw him at another girl's locker. Osana Najimi, his childhood friend. He slipped a pink note in her locker and ran away, and Oka, fearing the worst, ran to the rooftop to watch. She perched herself behind a railing and saw him, her Senpai, waiting behind the cherry tree, and minutes later, Osana came running out the back door, her long, orange twintails flowing behind her. She reached the tree and looked around, shocked when Taro came around the back of the cherry tree. Oka sadly watched Taro confess his feelings to Osana under the cherry tree as cherry blossom petals fell romantically around them. Oka's heart shattered when Osana accepted his confession, and they kissed under the blossom tree. Despite her depression, she couldn't help but watch as the happy couple walked out of the school, hand-in-hand. She walked down the stairs, feeling like she was worthless. She didn't expect a little pink note to fall out of her locker asking her to meet someone by the cherry tree. Oka tucked the note in her bag and ran towards the tree, thinking of who could have left it. Taro, definitely not. Fureddo? Maybe. He was quite a handsome young man. Oka blushed, thinking she had a new crush. She would never get Taro back from Osana, seeing how much he loved her now. But maybe whoever left this note would love her just as much. She didn't expect to see Ayano near the cherry tree.

"Oka!" Ayano called, perking up when she saw the occult leader running towards the tree. When she finally made it up, she stopped and caught her breath before looking up at Ayano. "Uh, hey Yan-chan..." Oka said awkwardly. Ayano smiled and blushed. "Oka-chan, I have to tell you something. I used to be in love with a boy named Taro Yamada. He gave me emotions. Seeing him was like hearing music, feeling warmth and seeing colour for the first time, all at once. But you gave me those sensations even stronger than Taro. I was planning to eliminate you to get you out of my way to be with him, and went as far as to poison your food, but now I can't bear the thought of hurting you, which is why I told you a bee was around. I would never be the same without you. You are my new Senpai, so please accept my feelings. Will you be my girlfriend, Oka Ruto?"

Oka didn't know how to respond. She didn't have the same feelings for Ayano at all, she thought of her only as a friend. But at the same time, she didn't want to break her heart. Plus, she had nearly poisoned her. Who does that?! "A-Ayano-chan..." Oka said quietly. Ayano looked hopefully into Oka's eyes. "...I-I'm sorry, but I don't have the same feelings for you... I can't be with someone I don't love... sorry..." Oka winced when Ayano looked devastated, then her face turned flat. "I took countermeasures in case this happened, Oka-senpai..." she mumbled, before pulling a syringe out of her pocket. Oka began to back away. "A-Ayano...?!" she said quickly. Ayano lunged forward, catching Oka before she could run, and injected the tranquilizer into her neck. "What are you—?!" Oka tried to scream, but fell back, right into Ayano's arms. The tranquilizer was taking effect, and her legs felt weak. Ayano held her whimpering Senpai close to her and nuzzled her. "Oh Oka, who ever said you were the one in control?" she whispered. "No one can take you away from me now." As Oka fell unconscious in her arms, Ayano picked her up bridal-style and ran towards the school, then placed Oka in a musical instrument case. After leaving the school, she rolled the instrument case all the way back to her home.
