Chapter 4 - One Rival Down
The next day, Ayano walked up to the running track. A soulless husk stood there, a stand-in for the real Sports Club Leader while they were away. Ayano didn't know if the leader was a boy or a girl, but she knew one thing — she had a plan to eliminate her rival, and that plan required her to join the Sports Club. Ayano spoke to the placeholder leader. "Hi," she said to her. "Greetings," came the response in a robotic voice. "Join club?" Ayano nodded. "I would like to join your club, Placeholder-chan." The fake club leader took a pair of swimming goggles from a small box and handed them to Ayano, then said "You have joined the club." Ayano fit the goggles onto her head, then her phone buzzed. She waved to Placeholder-chan before inspecting the buzzing sound. It was a text from Info-chan.
Info-chan: So how's the plan going? I see you joined the Sports Club.
Ayano looked up and saw Info-chan watching her from the Info Club window, then texted her back.
Ayano: It's going well. My rival has no idea what's about to happen. But I have to wait until the end of the school day.
Info-chan: Good thing you have level 5 seduction, right?
Ayano: They won't be able to resist me~
Info-chan: Good luck.
Ayano switched off her phone and went to class. Everything was pretty boring, all Ayano did in class was read manga, then have lunch with Oka again. She only really tried in Physical Education in the afternoon. "Alright, students, we'll be running 15 laps today, then we'll begin class for real," said Kyoshi Taiso, the gym teacher. She spotted the goggles on Ayano's head as she went to change into her gym uniform. "Ah, so you joined the Sports Club!" she said, her blue eyes glimmering with approval in the sunlight, and her short blonde hair rustling in the wind. A silver whistle hung around her neck against her red track suit. "That club doesn't get much attention nowadays." Ayano smiled slightly. "Yeah," she said. She knew Kyoshi was the teacher supervisor for the Sports Club whenever they needed one.
"Wow!" Kyoshi said after Ayano was the first student done the track race at the end of class. She handed Ayano a plastic water bottle. "You're almost as fast as the Sports Club Leader!" Ayano perked up, hoping for more information. "Who?" "My niece, Asu Rito, is the leader of the Sports Club. She holds the school record for the fastest student in Akademi. She also founded and leads the school swim team." Ayano was interested. "Why isn't she here?" Kyoshi grinned. "She's training for the Olympic swimming team at a private institution. I'm so proud!" Ayano smiled and went to change back into her school uniform, thinking about Asu. Will she be out to steal Senpai too..? she thought. I already have one rival to deal with right now, I don't need another going after my Senpai! Ayano decided to chill out for a little while after Physical Education, before texting Info-chan.
Ayano: Info, where is Senpai?
Info-chan: Payment?~
Ayano: Ugh, fine.
Ayano has sent 1 attached image: Mei_panties.PNG
Info-chan: Thank you. Your Senpai is reading a book as always. Your rival is also reading.
Ayano: Thanks, Info.
Info-chan: Pleasure doing business with you~
Ayano headed down to the Occult Club room and tossed a smile at Oka, who waved shyly. She continued reading a book with a pentagram on it. She walked over to Shin and tapped his shoulder. He looked up. "Um, hello," he said with a slight smile. "Excuse me, can you help me with something?~" Ayano asked sweetly. Shin blushed and smiled. "Um, s-sure, what do you need?" he asked. Seduction skill is working its magic, Ayano thought. "I joined the Sports Club earlier, and I want to take out the equipment for club activities later. I figured I needed someone to help~" she explained with a smile. She decided not to tell Shin that none of the Sports Club members except for her and Sota Yuki were at school today. He stood up and used a dark purple bookmark to mark his page in his book. Ayano smiled as Shin put the book down on his chair. "Lead the way, Aishi-san!" he told her, blushing as he looked back at Oka. Oka held his gaze as they left.
Ayano lead him outside, past the placeholder club leader, who watched them go past, and towards the gym, where baseball bats and a few boxes of sports balls were against the wall. Shin tried to pick up a box of basketballs, but dropped it again. "Wow. These are kinda heavy..." he muttered. Ayano picked up 4 baseball bats and started carrying them over to the placeholder club leader. "I told you I needed your help!" she called back. Shin picked up a box of tennis balls and followed her.
When they were almost done, Ayano walked over to Shin. "There's a special reason why I called you over here, Shin. I wanted to... talk to you about something~" she said. A light blush crossed the Occult member's face. "W-what is it?" he said quietly. Ayano checked her phone. 4:45... club activities would start soon. She had picked the perfect time. She turned back to Shin. "Well, I see that you've been looking at Oka lately..." she began. Shin's face turned into a tomato. "I, uh, have a huge crush on her..." he stammered. Ayano's patient smile turned into an angered frown.
"I see that," she mumbled. "You aren't exactly good at hiding your feelings. Well, I'll have you know that Oka is my Senpai, and I am a Yandere," Ayano growled. Shin was taken aback. "A y-yandere?! Don't hurt me! I take back what I said, Oka is just a friend!" He tried to back away, but he was frozen in shock. Ayano took her knife out of her bookbag, which she had left on the ground, and giggled. "Silly boy, you can't go back on saying you have a crush! Now stand still so I can murder you~" Shin was paralyzed, both with fear and Ayano's seduction skill. He stood perfectly still for a moment, then started to back away. But Ayano was too fast. Ayano sprang forward, the kitchen knife held tightly in her right hand, but Shin turned around and tried to hold her back. "S-stay away from me!" he cried in fear. Ayano growled and fought harder. Shin was stronger than she expected, but nobody gets in between a Yandere and her Senpai. Ayano shook Shin's arm off of hers and lodged the knife into his stomach. Shin let out a pained yowl as Ayano cut the knife upward, slicing deep into his chest and making a sickening yet satisfying "chk-chk" sound, like a gun being reloaded.
--Special Shin POV!--
Shin felt the colour fade from the world. Everything went from lit by a milky sunset to black-and-white, except for the blood spurting from his own stomach, which was as shockingly laser-pointer red as ever. It seemed to glow with an orange light... strange. He tried and tried and tried again to choke out a plea for help or mercy, but all that came out was a pained gasp as more blood bubbled from his mouth. He felt himself choking on his own blood. Moments later, Shin felt all the strength leave his body, as if he no longer had the use of his legs. He collapsed on his hands and knees, gasping for air and trying to block the blood loss from the massive wound on his stomach, all the while it still spurted out more. He managed to look up and saw Ayano, the pretty girl who he had actually thought of asking out if Oka rejected him , wearing a gym uniform covered in blood. His blood. Ayano smiled sadistically. "You idiot, you really thought I was interested? Puh-lease. Aside from that stupid fuck Masuta-san, you're the last person I would date. I'm the one getting the reward here—one step closer to be with my Oka-Senpai. See you in hell, Higaku-kun!" she chirped with an evil smile. Shin closed his eyes, and felt his body hit the ground. He let the darkness envelop his soul as he felt like he was getting farther and farther away from reality.
He plummeted down into a seemingly endless black abyss, feeling like he was skydiving. He remembered a song his mother had taught him — "Skyfall". That was what it felt like — like after his death, he was just falling and falling forever, and it would never stop. He would never hit the ground, he would just plummet through the darkness, all by himself with nobody to talk to, for eternity. But then, he felt heat, so much that he thought he would melt like a wax statue if it got any hotter. Shin opened his eyes again to see fire everywhere — red stone warm to the touch, lava falling from the skies, seemingly endless lava oceans surrounding little islands or big chunks of land made of hellstone. A tall, threatening castle loomed in front of him, built out of dark crimson, grey, and black bricks that looked cold to the touch, confusingly. Two black skeleton guards stood at the entrance, wearing silver helmets to protect their skulls and holding their swords in a stance like Teal Streak. Shin realized where he was. He had gone to hell, just like Ayano said, and what stood before him was the Devil's Tower. He wandered around for a while, before curling up into a ball and started crying his eyes out. He would never confess his love to Oka, or see any of his friends again. Shin was dead, and would be alone and miserable for the rest of his afterlife.
