Chapter 4

November's POV

I close my door and fall onto my bed. I look up at the ceiling. What was I thinking when I kissed Marcus like that? My phone pings next to me. I sit up and look at my phone to find a message from a random number.

Unknown: Hi.

Me: Who are you and how do you have my number?

Unknown: Its me, Marcus. U gave me ur number.

I mentally slap myself. Of course I had to give him my number. I sigh. Great. I look back at my phone and reply.

Me: Oh, right. Sorry. Do you need something?

Marcus: Uh, yea, actually. About today, I was hoping u would do something for me? I mean, it would probably benefit u too.

I nearly drop my phone when I read the last part.

Oh god. What have I done??

Me: Uh, sure? What do you need?

The three dots pop up, telling me that he's typing.

Marcus: Can I call? Its gonna be weird if I ask u this through messages.

Me: Sure.

Two seconds later, my phone rings in my hand. I answer the call.

"Hi." I say.

"Hey."

There's silence before be starts talking.

"So here's the thing. You know I broke up with Mia right." Its not a question, its more of a statement.

"Yea." I say.

"Well, I am guessing that since you kissed me, you probably had trouble with that boy that was at your locker."

"Yea." is the smartest thing my brain can say right now.

"So I was wondering if you would be my fake girlfriend. You can make that guy jealous and I can make Mia jealous."

"So you want me to act like your girlfriend so that you can make Mia Jealous." I state.

"Its a win-win. You can make your guy jealous too." he replies defensively.

"Sure." my mouth blurts out before consulting my brain.

"Great!" he exclaims happily. "I'll pick you up tomorrow for school."

"K. Bye."

"Bye. Thank you so much!"

The call ends.

I think about that. If I go through with this, Jake would most likely be off my case. Maybe my mouth is smarter than my brain. If I had the chance to think, I am pretty sure I would have said no, or told him that I had to think about it.

I fall back onto the bed with a sigh.

****

I groan when my phone rings. Opening my eyes, I look at the time to see that its... 6:50 AM!! WHO WOULD CALL THIS EARLY!! I pick my phone up and see that its Marcus. I let out a frustrated groan before I answer.

"What?" I say.

"Good morning to you too." he says. I just roll my eyes.

"What is it Marcus?" I ask.

"Well, I was wondering if you wanted to stop by for coffee before we went to school?"

"Are you for real?" I ask. "You had to interrupt my beauty sleep to ask me to stop by for coffee before school?!" I all but scream.

"Well, I have to decide whether to bring my bike or my car." he says defensively.

"I'm never riding a bike in my life, so you better bring your car every time I'm with you." I warn.

He chuckles. "Fine."

When he ends the call, I look at the time and realize that its six to seven. I pull myself out of bed and walk into the bathroom. It takes me the usual 25 minutes to finish my daily routine, and I walk downstairs a bit earlier, surprising my mom.

"Wow, your five minutes early." mom exclaims.

"Yea, someone called from school and woke me up ten minutes early." I reply as I grab a granola bar and shove it into my backpack.

"Oh, ok." she says.

Just then, I see a car pull into the drive way.

"Oh, um, I have to go." I say.

Before she can say anything else, I swing my bag over one shoulder and bolt out the door. I walk up to the car where Marcus is waiting at the passenger door. I roll my eyes as he opens the door for me.

"Such a gentleman." I say.

He smiles. "That's what they all say."

I shake my head, smiling. As he walks towards the driver's seat, I look up to see mom at the kitchen window, watching. I immediately look away before she catches me, but not before I see her smile to herself.

Marcus carefully pulls out of the drive way.

"So, lets get coffee?" he asks.

"You already asked me that." I point out. "When you called me this morning and ruined my beauty sleep."

"Beauty?" he snorts.

I look over at him, feigning hurt.

"Wow." I say. "That hurt!"

He shakes his head, laughing, as he pulls up in front of the coffee shop.

"Do you want anything?" he asks.

"Nah. I'm good."

"K, be out in a second."

He walks in without turning the car off. A few seconds later, he walks back out of the door.

"Wow, that was really fast." I say when he gets into the car.

"I come here every morning." he explains.

"Oh."

He buckles in and we are off to school. It takes a minute for the smell of the coffee to fill the car, and when it does, I can't keep in the curiosity.

"You like espresso?" I ask, honestly surprised.

"Yea." he says, taking a sip of his coffee.

"Oh."

"You seem surprised?"

"Well, I didn't peg you for the espresso type."

"Really?"

"Hmh. I actually thought you would have coffee." I reply.

"Oh, and I'm going to take a wild guess and say that your more of a latte type of girl?" he asks.

"Yea. Carmel Latte." I say.

"Hmm."

****

Marcus parks the car in the school parking lot and gets out. He meets me on my side. He moves closer to me.

"Ok, so, I hope your good at acting, because we start now." he whispers in my ear. "And remember, no one can know."

Before I can answer, he kisses me. Its not a full-on kiss, its more like a peck. He pulls away and locks his hand in mine. I lean my head onto his arm, since I can't reach his shoulder. We both walk into school.

Everyone stares at us, and I feel a bit uncomfortable as Marcus walks me to my locker. I cringe into him a bit as we arrive. Unfortunately for me, Melody's locker is right next to mine, and Michael was right there. And they were both staring.

Marcus seems unfazed, which kinda worries me, considering that they are both his siblings, and they are right next to my locker, staring at us. We arrive at my locker, and I turn to face him.

He leans closer.

"Bye cupcake. See you in a few." he whispers.

I smile. "Bye." I whisper back.

He leaves, and I quickly shove my backpack into my locker, hoping Melody and Michael don't say anything.

"So, you and my brother are dating now." Melody says, just as I grab my binder and am about to sprint.

I mentally cringe, but put on a smile as I turn towards her.

"Uh, yea?" It comes out more as a question than a statement.

"Okay, just don't be weird about it." she says.

I let out a deep breath that I never knew I was holding.

"So you aren't mad?" I ask.

Before she could reply, Michael turns and stalks off.

"Me, not so much, but Mike, can't say the same." Melody chuckles.

I manage to smile.

"So," she says as we walk to homeroom. "how did it happen?"

"Huh?" I look at her, confused.

"How did you two start dating?"

"Oh, um, it kinda just...happened."

She looks unsatisfied with my answer, but doesn't poke anymore.

Hey! Long time no update! Sorry about that. I kept on adding on to this chapter, and I ended it. So, what are your thoughts? Let me know!
