Emily's PoV

"Allow me to educate you in the operations of the RUINS." Toriel steps over some gray stones pulls a lever and the door opens before saying, "The RUINS are full of puzzles. Ancient fusions between diversions and door keys. One must solve them to move from room to room. Please adjust yourself to the sight of them." I go over the puzzle and continue to the next room. "To make progress here you will need to trigger several switches. Do not worry, I have labelled the ones that you need to flip." We walk down the hall together and I flip the labeled switches and the spikes fall. "Splendid! I am proud of you, little one. Let us move to the next room. As a human living in the UNDERGROUND, monsters may attack you. You will need to be prepared for this situation. However, worry not! The process is simple. When you encounter a monster, you will enter a FIGHT. While you are in a FIGHT, strike up a friendly conversation. Stall for time. I will come to resort the conflict. Practice talking the dummy." Toriel steps to the side as I walk over to the dummy. The same thing that happened with Flowey. I look at the Fight, Act, Item, Mercy buttons and hit Act. More buttons appear  Talk and Check I start talking to the dummy and hit the talk button. He doesn't respond as I expected and Toriel looks at me happily. The blackness fades and Toriel starts "Ah, very good! You are very good. There is another puzzle in this room... I wonder if you can solve it?" We walk towards the puzzle but a Froggit attacks. "Eep!" After I calm myself I do the same thing I did with the dummy. Before I can start a nice conversation Toriel interrupts staring at the little Froggit. The fight ends and we continue down the hall. We hit a field of spikes and Toriel says "Here this is the puzzle. Take my hand for a moment." grabbing my hand she leads me through the spikes. At the other side she says "Puzzles seem a little too dangerous for now. " We enter the next room and she continues "You have done excellently thus far, my child. However... I have a difficult request to ask of you. ... I would like you to walk to the end of the room by yourself. Forgive me for this." And with that Toriel starts running down the hall. "Wait!" I yell running after her. At the end of the hall there's a large pillar.  Poking my head around I see Toriel and I wave as she steps out of hiding. "Greetings, my child. Do not worry, I did not leave you.. I was merely behind this pillar the whole time. Thank you for trusting me. However, there was an important reason for this exercise. It was to to test your independence. I must attend to some business, and you must stay alone for a while. Please remain here. It's dangerous to explore by yourself. I have an idea. I will you a CELL PHONE. If  you have a need for anything, just call. Be good, alright?" When Toriel leaves I sit leaning against the pillar. After a few minutes I'm bored and I call Toriel. "This is Toriel."

"Hi mom!" 

"Huh? Did you just call me... Mom? Well I suppose. Would that make you happy? To call me... Mother? Well then call me whatever you like."

The call ends. I sit for a few more minutes before leaving the room and on cue Toriel calls. "Hello this is  Toriel! You have not left the room have you? There are a few puzzles ahead that I have yet to explain. It would be dangerous to try and solve them yourself. Be good, Alright." The call ends again. I run a leap into the pile of leaves. Playfully crinkling through the leaves fills you with determination.

I end each chapter at a save point. I have an idea to introduce a new character.
