Chapter 9

Third person's pov

In Jungkook's room..........

The first gift Jungkook opened revealed a cute bear sweater, its soft fabric making him smile.

"This is adorable," Jungkook said, holding up the sweater and admiring the little bear design.

Hyunjae and Sujae nodded in agreement. "You’ll look so cute in that, Eomma," Sujae said.

" I know," Jungkook said while putting the sweater down, beside him.

The next package contained a pretty purple sweater, the color vibrant and beautiful. Jungkook's eyes lit up even more. "Purple is my favorite," he said, hugging the sweater to his chest.

Hyunjae and Sujae smiled seeing Jungkook's excited face.

Jungkook then reached for another gift, unwrapping it to find a beautiful white sweater with "Baby Boo" written on it in delicate script. He looked up, curious. "Where did you get this?"

Hyunjae chuckled. "I had it custom made just for my Baby Boo."

Jungkook's smile grew wider. "This one is my favorite," he declared, holding it up for a closer look.

The next series of gifts included an array of perfumes. Jungkook was in awe, sniffing each one appreciatively. "You two really know how to spoil me," he said with a laugh.

Then, Hyunjae asked, "Which one do you want to open next?"

Jungkook spotted a pretty, cute package and pointed at it. "This one."

Hyunjae handed him the package, and Jungkook tore off the wrapping paper to reveal a bottle of mouthwash.

He stared at it, bemused. "Who gave this?"

Sujae grinned mischievously. "You really need it."

Jungkook playfully hit Sujae on the arm. "You need it more than me..... here have it!" He said while throwing the mouthwash in Sujae's lap.

They all laughed, and soon all the gifts were opened. The room looked like a mess with all the wrapping paper here and there. Then Hyunjae stood up, "I have two more special gifts," he announced.

Jungkook groaned playfully. "I'm tired of opening them."

Hyunjae chuckled and reached into his pocket. "You don't need to unwrap these." He pulled out a small box and opened it to reveal a heart necklace with three interlocking pieces. "This is for my most precious people."

Then Hyunjae gently put the necklace on Jungkook first, then on Sujae, and finally wore the third piece himself. "Now we’re always connected," Hyunjae said softly, his voice filled with love.

Jungkook looked at the necklace, then back at Hyunjae, his heart full. "Thank you," he whispered, his voice trembling slightly.

Hyunjae reached into his pocket again and pulled out a beautifully decorated envelope. "And now, the last gift. This is for you."

Jungkook took the envelope and opened it, pulling out a handwritten letter. As he started to read, his eyes widened with surprise and emotion. The letter was long, filled with heartfelt words from Hyunjae about how much he loved Jungkook and how grateful he was for everything Jungkook had done for him and Sujae.

"Dear Eomma," the letter began. "There are no words that can fully express how much you mean to me. You have been my rock, my guide, and my greatest source of love and comfort. I remember every sacrifice you made, every moment of pain you endured just to see me and Sujae smile. Your strength and resilience are beyond anything I could ever imagine. I love you more than anything in this world."

Jungkook’s eyes filled with tears as he continued to read. "You bore so much for us, your love is a gift that I will cherish forever. I p-promise to always take care of you, to make you smile, and to ensure you know just how much you are loved."

Jungkook couldn’t hold back his tears any longer. He started crying. Hyunjae and Sujae immediately wrapped their arms around him, holding him close.

"Eomma, you’re the best thing that’s ever happened to us," Hyunjae whispered, kissing Jungkook's temple gently.

Sujae added, "We love you so much. More than words can say."

Jungkook wiped his tears, "I love you both so much," he whispered, kissing their foreheads.

They sat there for a while, holding each other. After some time, they finally broke apart, and Hyunjae looked at Jungkook with a tender smile. "Now, how about we eat some cake?"

Jungkook nodded, his tears replaced by a radiant smile. "Yes, let's do that, I was also about to say it."

They cut the cake, feeding each other bites and laughing as they got frosting on their faces.

Later that night, after all the cake was eaten and the gifts were put away, Jungkook lay in bed wearing his new sweater. Hyunjae and Sujae snuggled up next to him.

"Thank you for the best birthday ever," Jungkook said softly, his eyes heavy with sleep.

Hyunjae kissed his forehead. "Anything for you, Eomma. Sweet dreams."

Soon the three drifted into a deep slumber.

Meanwhile with Taehyung.........

Taehyung was lying in bed, staring at the stars from behind the window.

Suddenly he glanced at the calendar on the wall, and his heart skipped a beat. "1st September," he said aloud. Today marked an unforgettable day in his life—the day he had met 'him'.

His thoughts began to drift into the past when suddenly, the door to his room burst open and Soohyun rushed in,

"Appa! I know the man you met!" she exclaimed, her words tumbling over each other in her hurry to speak. "It was the man who fainted on the street, and I took him to the hospital. His name is—"

"Soohyun," Taehyung interrupted, "do you know what time it is?"

Soohyun glanced at the clock and sheepishly replied, "1:30."

"And why are you awake at this hour?" Taehyung continued, his tone softening slightly.

"I was doing some work," Soohyun said while shifting on his feet.

Taehyung sighed, rubbing his temples. "Stop everything and go to sleep. You can tell me about him in the morning."

"But Appa, I wanted to tell you about that man—"

"I am not interested in him bro! And get out,"

Soohyun pouted. "Whatever, oldie!" She turned and marched out of the room, leaving Taehyung alone with his thoughts once more.

" You are an oldie not me!" Taehyung said in a loud voice hoping that it would reach Soohyun’s ears.

The next day.........

The next day, Taehyung found himself drawn to a small, secluded garden where he used to spend time many years ago with 'him'.

The place held many cherished memories, and it was here that he hoped to find some solace. He sat down beneath a large tree, the leaves rustling softly in the breeze, and let out a heavy sigh. "Why did you leave me like that?" he whispered,

His mind drifted back to that fateful day twenty years ago. It was raining heavily, and Taehyung was in an empty house, his arm and leg in casts and a bandage on his head.

He was crying loudly, his voice echoing through the empty rooms. "Jungkook! Where are you?" he wailed, his heart breaking with each unanswered call.

"JUNGKOOK!"

"WHERE ARE YOU!"

"I AM HERE PLEASE COME TO ME! JUNGKOOK!"

Back in the present, Taehyung wiped away the tears that had begun to stream down his face. Suddenly, he heard a voice. "Are you okay?"

Taehyung looked up to see a man standing before him. Taehyung nodded, trying to compose himself. "Yes, I'm fine."

Jungkook tilted his head slightly. "You're the guy I met yesterday, right?"

Taehyung nodded again. "Yes... nice to meet you again. You can sit if you want."

Jungkook shook his head gently. "No, I'm fine. I just stopped by to see this garden for a moment. "

Taehyung looked around the garden, a wistful smile playing on his lips. "I have many memories attached to this place," he said, " It's really beautiful isn't it?"

Jungkook's expression softened,  "Hmm, its really beautiful......... You know these memories become painful when the person who gave you these becomes a memory. "

Taehyung looked at him, " No, it's beautiful. "

"It depends on how you remember that person." Jungkook said while looking at Taehyung's face directly.

For a few minutes, they both stared at eachother and then Jungkook cleared his throat and with a smile he went away.

As Taehyung watched him go, he couldn't shake the feeling that there was something familiar about the man.

But he brushed it off, chalking it up to his emotional state. He spent a few more minutes in the garden, reflecting on his memories before finally standing up and heading to his workshop.

At Park captures........

Hyunjae stepped into the lobby of Park Industries, his sharp gaze scanning the area as he adjusted his suit. Just as he was about to head towards the elevators, he noticed Taewon rushing inside, clearly in a hurry.

"Anyone who comes to work later than me is doomed," Hyunjae said.

Taewon bowed deeply, his face flushed with embarrassment. He quickly picked up his pace, attempting to walk faster towards the elevators. But before he could get too far, Hyunjae's voice stopped him in his tracks.

"And anyone who walks ahead of me is doomed," Hyunjae added, his eyes narrowing.

Taewon abruptly slowed down, falling into step behind Hyunjae. He couldn't afford to make another mistake on his second day at the job.

" Anyone who follows me around is doomed." Hyunjae said and Taewon wanted to kill him the exact moment.

" The earth was doomed when you were born idiot!" Taewon thought in his mind while attempting to calm himself down.

However, his frustration got the better of him. "If I am doomed anyway, I would like to arrive on time," Taewon muttered under his breath before dashing towards the elevator.

"With this attitude, you are doomed anyway," he called out, his voice echoing in the spacious lobby. He took his time walking to the elevator, noting how Taewon fumbled with his badge to open the elevator door.

The elevator ride was tense. Taewon stood stiffly, avoiding eye contact. Taewon's mind raced with thoughts of how to make a good impression despite the rough start. He just wanted to get through the day without any more mishaps.

As soon as the elevator doors slid open on their floor, Taewon bolted out, eager to put some distance between himself and Hyunjae. He hurried to his desk, his heart pounding in his chest.

Meanwhile with Jungkook..........

Jungkook was siting on the sofa, scrolling through his phone mindlessly when it started ringing. He glanced at the screen, seeing an unknown number. He hesitated for a moment before picking up.

"Hello? Who is it?" Jungkook answered,

There was an excited voice on the other end, "Jungkook, is that you? It's Park Jungkook, right?"

Jungkook frowned. "Yes, this is Jungkook. But who are you?"

The voice on the other end laughed lightly. "Don't you remember me? It's Choi Hyeona. We used to be friends in college."

Jungkook’s mind raced as he tried to place the name. After a few seconds, it clicked. "Oh yeah, Hyeona. I remember now. How have you been?"

"I'm good, really good!" Hyeona replied, "Actually, I contacted a few of our old classmates, and we're planning a class reunion at the end of this week. I was wondering if you could come."

"A reunion?" Jungkook repeated, surprised. His mind quickly drifted to thoughts of his college days and the people he used to know. More than anyone else, one name stood out: Kim Taehyung. "Will everyone come?"

It had been more than 20 years since the night that had shattered Jungkook's life, and he had spent all that time nursing his anger and hurt. He wanted to see Taehyung to choke him, to kick him, to slap him and to ask him all the questions he had bottled up in his mind all these years.
