Chapter 36
Third person's pov
“Soohyun, I’m fine,” Jungkook assured her, trying to sound as composed as possible.
“I’m so sorry, Mrs. Park,” Taewon said, bowing deeply. “I didn’t meant scare you, I thought it was only noona.”
Jungkook smiled and shook his head. “It’s alright, Taewonie.”
At that moment, Heejin came in, her eyes widening in surprise when she saw Jungkook. “Oh, Mrs. Park, you’re here!” She bowed respectfully, with a smile.
Jungkook reached out and patted Heejin’s head affectionately. “It’s good to see you.”
Soohyun stepped forward, her voice gentle. “You should sit down now, Mrs. Park.” She placed a hand on his elbow, guiding him carefully to the sofa and helping him to sit. Jungkook settled into the cushions with a sigh, his hand still resting on his belly.
Heejin and Taewon exchanged puzzled looks, their confusion growing.
“Should I get a glass of water for you?” Soohyun asked, her eyes never leaving Jungkook’s face.
Jungkook nodded slightly. “Yes, please.”
Soohyun turned to Taewon. “Taewon, get a glass of water for Mrs. Park.”
Taewon nodded, hurrying to the kitchen. He returned swiftly, carefully holding a glass of water, which he handed to Jungkook. Jungkook took it with a grateful smile and sipped slowly.
“Thank you, Taewon,” he said, setting the glass on the coffee table.
“I will call Hyunjae and Sujae here as well,” Jungkook continued, looking at Soohyun.
Soohyun nodded in agreement. “Do you want to lay down for a bit?” she asked, concern still evident in her tone.
Jungkook shook his head, a small smile on his lips. “I’m really fine.”
Taewon and Heejin exchanged another set of bewildered looks. Heejin finally spoke up, her voice hesitant. “Um, Mrs. Park, are you sick?”
Jungkook shook his head again. “No, I’m not sick. But I do have a surprise.”
“A surprise?” Taewon said, “What is it?”
Jungkook smiled. “I’ll tell you when everyone is here.”
They sat in suspenseful silence for a while. The atmosphere was thick with anticipation. Soon, the doorbell rang, and Taehyung arrived with Hyunjae and Sujae. They greeted everyone warmly as they entered the living room.
“You guys came together?” Heejin asked, her eyebrows raised.
“We arrived at the same time,” Taehyung explained, removing his shoes and stepping inside.
Heejin nodded and stepped aside as Hyunjae and Sujae hurried over to Jungkook. They sat on either side of him, their expressions were of curiosity.
“Why did you called us here Eomma?” Hyunjae asked, his hand resting lightly on Jungkook’s arm.
Jungkook took a deep breath, trying to gather his thoughts. “Okay, everyone. Sit down. I have something important to tell you.”
Everyone, except Soohyun, who was already standing by, looked confused but complied, taking their seats around the room. The tension was palpable as all eyes turned to Jungkook.
“I…” Jungkook began, his voice trembling slightly. He took another deep breath, but the words seemed to get stuck in his throat. Overwhelmed, he hid his face in his hands, trying to steady his breathing.
“Just tell us already, eomma,” Sujae. urged gently, his hand moving to rub soothing circles on Jungkook’s back.
Jungkook lifted his head, his eyes glistening with tears. “I’m pregnant,” he finally said, his voice barely above a whisper.
For a moment, there was a stunned silence. Everyone seemed too shocked to react. Then, Hyunjae broke the silence, his voice filled with disbelief. “Is this a joke?”
Soohyun, who had been standing calmly, stepped forward and pulled out a set of blood reports from her bag. She handed them to Hyunjae, who scanned the papers quickly, his eyes widening in realization.
“Oh,” He murmured.
The room fell silent again as everyone processed the news. Then, suddenly, the quiet was shattered by the sound of Taewon, Heejin, Sujae, and Hyunjae shouting in surprise and excitement.
Hyunjae was the first to move, throwing his arms around Jungkook in a tight embrace. “Eomma, I’m going to be a big brother again!”
Sujae followed, hugging Jungkook and planting a kiss on his forehead. “Baby boo is having a baby!” he said, his excitement contagious.
Jungkook smiled, feeling a wave of relief and happiness. He hugged his children tightly, savouring the moment. Sujae continued to kiss Jungkook’s cheeks, making him giggle.
Taewon and Heejin, both beaming with happiness, joined the hug,
“Congratulations, Mrs. Park!” Taewon said, a huge grin on his face.
“We are going to have a mew member!” Heejin added, her smile bright and genuine.
“Th-hank you, everyone,” Jungkook said, his voice cracked and happy.
When everyone was done hugging Jungkook, Taehyung stood up and reached out a hand to him. "Let's go to the room," he said softly.
Jungkook, feeling a mixture of nerves and excitement, nodded. Taehyung gently helped him up, his hands firm yet tender around Jungkook's arms.
They made their way to the room, Taehyung’s hand never leaving the small of Jungkook’s back. Once inside, Taehyung closed the door and turned to face Jungkook, his eyes glistening with unshed tears.
"Are we really going to be parents?"
Jungkook nodded, a huge smile spreading across his face. "Yes, we are."
In a burst of joy, Taehyung lifted Jungkook off his feet and spun him around, their laughter filling the room.
Jungkook's giggles were infectious, his arms wrapping around Taehyung’s neck as they spun. Eventually, Taehyung set him down gently, his hands lingering on Jungkook’s waist. He cupped Jungkook’s face, his thumbs brushing away the tears that had started to fall.
"I love you so much," Taehyung whispered before peppering Jungkook’s face with kisses. Jungkook closed his eyes, savouring the warmth and tenderness of each kiss.
Then, Taehyung knelt down, lifting Jungkook’s shirt to reveal his belly. He placed gentle kisses there, murmuring, "Dada loves you."
Jungkook’s tears flowed freely now, touched by Taehyung’s affection. After sharing a long, deep kiss, they both composed themselves and headed downstairs.
As they descended, they found everyone gathered in the living room. In unison, they all shouted, "Congratulations!" Once more.
Jungkook smiled through his tears, overwhelmed by the acceptance and love surrounding him.
So no one thinks it's weird! Jungkook's happiness can't be described in one sentence.
Taehyung immediately pulled him into a side hug, his arm protectively around Jungkook’s shoulders. He wiped Jungkook’s tears with his thumb, his voice soft and comforting. "No, no crying, baby."
Jungkook nuzzled his face into Taehyung’s neck, taking a moment to steady his emotions. After a while, they all settled back into the living room. Jungkook sat between Sujae and Hyunjae, each of them holding one of his hands.
Taewon leaned forward, "So, when are you both going to get married?"
Taehyung glanced at Jungkook, then back at Taewon. "Soon. At the end of this month."
Soohyun looked surprised. "Isn't that too early?"
Jungkook shook his head, "It's perfect. The weather is nice right now. Later on, it will get too cold."
Hyunjae squeezed Jungkook’s hand, nodding in agreement. "If they want it at the end of the month, then we’ll have it then."
Taehyung added, "Once we’re married, we’ll all move in together, and everyone will address each other with respect."
Taewon looked confused. "What do you mean, Appa?"
"I mean," Taehyung explained patiently, "you will call Hyunjae 'Hyung' since he is older than you. Hyunjae will call Soohyun 'Noona'. Sujae will also address you all with respect."
Hyunjae and Taewon’s eyes widened in protest. "I won’t be calling anyone 'Noona'!" Hyunjae exclaimed.
"And I won't be calling him 'Hyung'," Taewon added defiantly.
"Taewon!" Soon Taehyung’s voice echoed in the room, followed by Jungkook’s.
"Hyunjae!" Jungkook’s tone equally firm.
Taehyung softened his voice, but his gaze remained serious. "You both will have to do it, even if you don't like it. It’s about respect."
"Try to understand, we’re becoming a family, and respect is important."
Hyunjae sighed, finally nodding. "Alright, I’ll do it."
Taewon, though reluctant, nodded as well. "Fine. I understand."
"I am never ever calling him as Hyung!" Taewon thought in his mind.
After a few minutes........
Everyone were in a deep conversation when Jungkook spoke up, "I’m hungry," His voice tinged with a childlike eagerness.
Taehyung looked at him, "It’s almost dinner time. What do you want to eat, baby?"
"Ramen," Jungkook responded without hesitation.
Taehyung smiled warmly and stood up. "I’ll make it for you."
Soohyun followed Taehyung to the kitchen. "I’ll help," she said, putting her arms around Taehyung's shoulders.
Jungkook watched them go, a content smile on his face. Then he turned towards the others, "I also want to eat ice cream."
Taewon’s eyes sparkled with excitement at the opportunity to help. "Which flavour?"
"Mint chocolate," Jungkook said, with an adorable smile.
"I’ll get it right now," Taewon said with a grin. He grabbed his keys and headed out of the house.
Jungkook’s heart swelled with happiness at how attentive everyone was. The house was filled with the sounds of cooking and laughter. Before long, the enticing aroma of ramen filled the air, and Taewon returned, holding up a bag of mint chocolate ice cream.
"Dinner’s ready!" Taehyung called out, setting bowls of steaming ramen on the dining table.
Everyone gathered around, the table crowded but cosy. Taewon handed Jungkook the ice cream, and Jungkook gleefully added a scoop to his bowl of ramen. He took a bite and squealed in delight, his eyes shining.
Everyone else, however, looked horrified. The combination was, to put it mildly, unappealing. Jungkook’s happiness was infectious though.
Jungkook, noticed Sujae looking at his ramen and offered him a bite. "Do you want to try?"
Sujae looked at the bite with terror but finally took it. He forced a smile as he chewed, swallowing hard. "It’s… good," he managed, though he looked like he might be sick.
Jungkook then turned to Hyunjae. "How about you?"
Hyunjae quickly shook his head, trying to be as gentle as possible. "I’m a little full right now, Eomma."
Jungkook nodded, not taking it personally, and continued eating his unusual combination.
After dinner, they decided to play Ludo. Taehyung, knowing how emotional Jungkook could be, subtly warned everyone with hand signals not to knock out Jungkook’s tokens.
The game started with everyone laughing and chatting, but a tense moment came when Heejin accidentally landed on Jungkook’s token, sending it back to the start.
Jungkook’s face crumpled, tears welling up in his eyes. "I’m not playing anymore!" he said, pushing the board slightly as he stood up, tears streaming down his face.
Taehyung was at his side in an instant. "No, no, baby. Your token is not out. It was a mistake."
But Jungkook kept crying, shaking his head. "No, it’s out now. I saw it."
Taehyung gently guided Jungkook back to his seat, wiping his tears with a thumb. "Please, baby. Let’s keep playing. We’re having so much fun. Look, your token is still here," he said, placing the token back on the board.
Jungkook sniffled, "Really?" he asked, his voice small.
"Really," they all echoed in unison.
"I actually got two not three, it was my mistake." Heejin said with a nervous smile.
"Yeah, she failed her math class twice so it's understandable." Taewon said, getting a glare from Heejin.
Jungkook slowly relaxed, his earlier distress forgotten as he was again wining the game.
After the game, Jungkook, Hyunjae, and Sujae went back home. Jungkook fell asleep on the way, his head resting on Hyunjae’s shoulder.
Hyunjae carefully lifted him out of the car, cradling him gently as he carried him inside. He nudged the door open with his foot and settled Jungkook on the bed, pulling the covers over him with tender hands.
Leaning down, he kissed Jungkook’s forehead, lingering for a moment before leaving the room.
Hyunjae walked quietly to Sujae’s room, finding him sitting on the bed, legs crossed and waiting expectantly. Hyunjae sat down beside him, the bed dipping slightly under his weight.
He ran a hand through his hair before turning to Sujae.
“How do you feel about not being the youngest anymore?” he asked softly.
Soojae tilted his head, “I’m excited to be an older brother, but I’m a bit sad that I won’t be your baby anymore,” he admitted, with a pout.
Hyunjae chuckled and reached out to tickle Sujae, who squirmed and giggled, trying to push Hyunjae’s hands away. “You will always be my baby, no matter what,” Hyunjae said.
“Liar,” Sujae retorted, still laughing as he tried to catch his breath.
Hyunjae placed a hand over his heart, feigning hurt. “You’re hurting my feelings now.”
Soojae chuckled, “By the way, Hyung,” he started, his tone shifting to one of curiosity. “Did you ever think this day would come? Eomma’s getting married soon, we’ll have a little sibling, and we’ll move in with Mr. Kim.”
Hyunjae leaned back, propping himself up on his elbows. “I didn’t think it would happen like this, but I really wanted Eomma to get remarried one day.”
“But when you found out about Eomma’s relationship, you weren’t happy.”
Hyunjae sighed, his gaze softening. “Because I didn’t trust Mr. Kim. I had seen Eomma cry his eyes out for him when I was a child, and I was afraid he’d get hurt again.”
Soojae nodded, and Hyunjae continued, “Eomma really deserves everything. He’s still in his middle age and can do most of the things he missed in his twenties.”
They sat in silence for a moment. After a while, Sujae suddenly spoke up, “Hyung, I found something cute earlier, I wanted to show it to you.”
Hyunjae turned to him, curious. “What?”
Soojae grabbed his phone and showed Hyunjae a pair of adorable baby shoes. Hyunjae’s eyes widened, and a smile spread across his face. “These are so cute! Order them right now.”
The brothers sat together, scrolling through various baby items on the phone. The room filled with their laugh and the occasional sound of clicking buttons as they placed orders.
Hours passed, and they finally settled back, satisfied with their purchases. Hyunjae stretched, yawning widely. “It’s getting late. We should sleep.”
Soojae nodded, closing his eyes briefly. “Yeah, but this was fun.”
Hyunjae ruffled Sujae’s hair affectionately. “It was. Goodnight, baby.”
“Goodnight, Hyung,” Sujae replied, a sleepy smile on his face as he snuggled into his blankets.
The next morning, Hyunjae woke up earlier than usual. The house was still quiet, the soft morning light streaming through the windows.
He made his way to the kitchen and made himself a cup of coffee. He leaned against the counter, cradling the warm mug in his hands, when the doorbell rang, cutting through the silence.
Hyunjae frowned slightly and set his coffee down on the counter. He walked to the door and opened it, peering at the man standing on the porch. The man was tall and looked to be in his late forties,
"Who are you?" Hyunjae asked, looking at him from head to toe.
"I’m Jungkook's elder brother."
