Chapter 3: Numb
"How come you never contacted me? Or anyone? Shit..." Dillon sighed in disbelief, raking a hand through his hair in frustration.
"I was scared Dill..I was too scared to even think about it." I answered with my head down. "I didn't want my family in danger anyway.."
He said he wouldn't let anything happen to me anyway. And he kept his promises. He always did.
"Jesus.."
Dillon rushed from his seat on the couch and ran towards me, hugging me like I just came home from the apocalypse.
"I'm so glad you're alright..and that that guy is out of your life.."
My heart pounded against my chest like it wanted to come flying out and punch my brother right in the face. What? What?!
I shoved Dillon off of me and got ready to let it all out on him. My chest was puffed out in anger and readymade as well as my tight fists,"How could you say that?! I never wanted him out of my life Dill!! I...I-I..." My voice cracked, and it hurt to say this, but I did. I had meant it then, and I meant it now,"I loved him.."
That was when my mind flooded itself, and my body with flashbacks, voices, sights, and the aching feeling in my heart I felt the very night Harry walked out. It was pitiful of me I thought. It wasn't that long ago actually. It was so overwhelming I whirled around and sprinted down the hallway with tears in my eyes, and my nose. I hated that, I wiped my nose to try and rid it of the salty water.
"Benny?" I heard Brittany's soft voice from the door on the other side of the hall. I was curled up on the floor by the door in front of Brittany and Niall's spare room, or a game room I think. Her voice didn't deter me from crying. I almost wanted Dill to run over, and I thought he did at one point.
"Benny? What's wrong?" She asked once she emerged from her room, clothed. I didn't think she was that type of girl. I'd be impressed with Niall if that was even possible. Weirdly, thinking of Niall made me think of Harry.
I finally answered after a few seconds of silence,"I..I think I wanna go home."
Brittany peered over her shoulder into the room where Niall lay, and looked at him. I couldn't see or hear what they said, but I did see Brittany nod, then turn on her heels back into the room.

Raw meats scent made him nuts, bananas. A wild animal. A pure, ravaging beast on two legs. At one point. He was in wolf form for now.
Harry had passed by a fresh fox carcass on his way through the woods, and he almost stopped to satisfy himself. He wasn't even conscious of himself in this state. Harry was...different. In a way. He was still himself of course, but, alas, he didn't know better.
To everyone, he was a shadow, as before. Except this time, he was a dangerous, blood thirsty hunter constantly searching for prey.
But right now, his mission was different.
His now extremely keen nose wafted with a special scent. One that almost made him so nostalgic he snapped out of his trance. Almost. Human. Female. Not to mention fertile.
The thought made his mouth water just a little, making him have to lick the moisture from his lips. He snarled, quietly, then continued his heated pursuit of his mate.
His nose lead him to the very place he had left Benny, around a few weeks ago. To him at this moment, it meant nothing. In his subconscious, he was hurting. Bad. Niall's backyard was in a much better and drier state, no mud, and no huge holes where claws had dug into the grass and ripped it out.
Harry sniffed the air, and shook his head. His mate was no longer here.
It was like there were two parts of Harry now. One that was a savage beast, and regular Harry. Like Jekyll and Hyde. Harry would've been filled with despair, but this Harry, the thirsty one, wanted nothing but his mate. Of course he wasn't a complete monster. Wolf mates certainly loved each other and cared. In fact, that was why Harry was on his way to her. He wanted to care for her. His animal instincts had kicked into high gear at this point though, and nothing was going to get in his way of Benny.
"Benny.." He said in a low voice, almost sounding like his old self.
Oh yes. He had smelled her, not her exactly, but her.
Harry got into the house with ease after shifting to a human. He simply walked in. No one was in the living room. He had concluded by scent, Niall and Brittany were out of the house.
Before Harry stepped 2 feet into the house, a new scent hit his nose.
"Hmm?"
He grunted and started sniffing more, inhaling the new smell. It was almost like Benny's, indicating relation. But it wasn't. It was stronger, which means it had been here more recently. And it was male.
Harry curled his lips and growled to himself, moving his head around the room as he walked further in.
"Who the hell.." Harry said aloud.
Beast Harry was furious at this point. Any male scent mixed with Benny's meant trouble in his mind. That was his mate, his heart, his only. He wanted to tear the male to shreds.

"I told you Dillon...you don't have to stay with--"
"Sis, you're almost 18, but that doesn't mean it's not illegal for you to live alone, by yourself.."
I blew my bangs from my face,"Redundant much.."
Dillon kind of half snorted and half laughed in the car, shaking his head as he drove my little June bug. "You're redundant!" He said in a taunt, sort of. Like the sibling kind where your sister went,"God this homework is so stupid!" Then you popped in and said,"No, you're stupid!"
I didn't want to laugh at his attempt to cheer me up after the tense moment back at Niall's. I cracked a smile. But I didn't laugh. Dillon took it as a victory anyway.
"Hey...you know I'm sorry..for what happened back there. I know you told me...that you really liked this guy, and him leaving hurt you. But...that's partly why I'm mad."
"Because he left?"
"Well, yeah, pretty much. Why did he leave you? I don't like my little sisters heart being broken by a raggedy assed furball."
I forgot to mention how well Dillon took the werewolf thing. I guess it was good to have eyewitnesses. A.k.a. Niall and Brittany. Maybe he was just humoring his little sister to shut her up. Or he really and truly believed me.
"I don't really want to talk much about it anymore Dill..." I mumbled in sadness as my little two story home came into view.
A little silence told me he understood, and he left the matter alone. For now anyways, if I knew my brother he'd want to continue this. Especially if it involved me.
It was nice to be back actually. I couldn't explain the pang of joy in my heart when I saw patches sitting on the coffee table. But as I grabbed him, I felt the tingle on my lips, similar to the feeling of my first kiss with...well, him. Right in front of the coffee table.
I held Patches and let Dillon carry the things I wasn't up to my room, after I showed him where it was of course.
When I came down the stairs, Dillon followed shortly after. The first thing I saw was something I missed when I had come in. I had a few envelopes sitting on the end table by my door.
The worst thing was, my already bi-polar heart was flipping all sorts of ways when I saw the sloppy handwriting on the front.
"Hey, I'm just gonna be at Tony's alright? Only for like half an hour. So call me ifs you need anything."
I let him talk. My feet were walking themselves over to the small stack of letters. I almost had no control, yet I fully did.
There was so much shit happening I didn't even want to breathe. But I somehow found a way to pick up the small, faded white envelopes all written like a 7th graders penmanship, in my opinion.
I looked down and went through all of them before looking at the oldest one. I couldn't help but trace the attempt of cursive that read:
