Chapter 76: Epilogue

Nue's POV

I blinked my eyes a couple times and looked around the room until my eyes landed on Karin, Naruto, Sakura, Sai, Lee, Tenten, Kiba, Shino, Hinata, Choji, Ino, Tsunade, and Orochimaru. "Hey, guys. What's up?" I asked, casually.

"Nue!" They cheered before all of them hugged me at the same time except for Sai, Tsunade and Orochimaru. I smiled and hugged them all back. "We're so happy to have you back, Nue!" Kiba said. "I've missed you all so much." I said.

I looked around, noticing one person who I wanted to see wasn't here. "What's the matter Nue?" Karin asked. "Oh, it's nothing. I just... I was hoping to see Gaara." I said. "He had some work to do with him being Kazekage and all." Shikamaru explained.

"I understand." I said, giving a nod. "Nue, before you came back to us, Eun left through the window. Did something happen?" Naruto asked. "No, nothing happened," I said, shaking my head. "I just gave her the freedom she deserved."

"Hey, you've got wings growing on your back!" Tenten said. "I do?" I asked. "Yeah, and they're red and blue!" Choji chimed in. "I see..." I looked down at the sheets, thinking of Deidara.

When we were together, he told me how he dreamed of flying in the sky with a pair of white wings on his back. I wish I could see him again one last time. "Nue," Orochimaru said, grabbing my attention. "Look out the window."

"Look out the window?" I repeated. "What for?"

"There's something I've put out there for you. Have a look." He said. I gave a blunt look. "I don't trust that look on your face." I stated. "Don't worry. I'm sure you'll enjoy it." Orochimaru said. I did as he said and looked out the window.

My eyes widened in disbelief when I saw who was outside. I jumped out of bed and ran out of the room. "Huh?! Nue-chan, where are you going?! What did you see?!" Naruto called. I ran down the hall, then down the stairs.

I tripped and fell on the floor, but I quickly got back up and continued to run until I finally got outside. I panted lightly as Deidara stood a few feet away from me. He wasn't in the Reanimation Jutsu. He was completely whole, alive, and well.

"Hey, Kitten." Deidara said, smiling. "Deidara... Is it really you?" I asked. "Of course it's me. In the flesh." He chuckled. Tears swelled up in my eyes and rolled down my cheeks. "Hey, what's with the tears, Kitten? Don't look so sad." Deidara said.

I closed my eyes tightly as more tears spilled, then ran at him. I hugged him tightly while bringing both of us to the ground. Deidara laughed as he went down and hugged me back. I began to cry in his chest, happy that he was alive and here with me.

"But I don't understand. How are you here? How are you alive?" I asked. "I used Hotaru's scroll to revive him. All it took was an item of the deceased person." Orochimaru explained as he walked over to us.

"Orochimaru? You brought him back?" I asked, standing to my feet while helping Deidara. "Of course. Sadly, I couldn't bring back your mother because the jutsu was only enough for one person. I knew if I brought back Deidara, that would be more than enough to make you happy." Orochimaru stated.

"And it was. Thank you, Orochimaru." I said, hugging him. I ran back over to Deidara and hugged him again as he hugged me back while spinning me around. Once he set me down, I kissed him while wrapping my arms around his neck.

Deidara kissed back as he wrapped his arms around my waist. "I love you, Deidara." I said, gazing into his blue eyes. "I love you, too, Kitten." He said back, then kissed me again.

Orochimaru's POV

"Aren't you going to tell her?" Tsunade asked as she stood beside me. "Tell her what?" I asked. "You know what I'm talking about. That you're her godfather." She said. I glanced at her, then looked at Nue as she and Deidara were happy.

"I don't have to tell her right now, Tsunade. Maybe when she's ready, I'll tell her then." I explained. "I think you're just saying that because you want to tell her when you're ready. The girl's seventeen, Orochimaru. Going on eighteen." She stated.

"True. But she's still just a child." I said. "You always say that." Tsunade mumbled while rolling her eyes. I smiled at Nue. One of these days, I will tell Nue the truth. But for now, I just want her to enjoy her happiness.

(Time skip, Nue's POV)

"Kimiko, come on! It's time to get up! It's already 1 in the afternoon!" I called to my 12-year-old daughter from the kitchen. With Kimiko being born half human and half Nue, it's not surprising that she sleeps until the afternoon.

When I was making her brunch, I went down to her room. "Kimiko?" I called, knocking on her door. I opened it and found her in bed with her face buried into her pillow. "Mmm... 1 more hour..." She mumbled. "I gave you that chance an hour ago, hun." I said with a chuckle.

"Mmm..." She grabbed the pillow she was laying on and put it over her head. "So, it's gonna be like that, huh? Okay, then I guess you don't want to go see the snakes today." I said. "Hey, hey, hey! Wait, I'm up!" Kimiko said as she quickly sat up, taking her pillow off her head.

"Good. Wash up and get dressed. I have your brunch ready." I said before leaving her room. Every now and then, I would take Kimiko to the secret spot in the woods. There is where I found a place full of snakes and Kimiko fell in love with them instantly.

"Hey, Deidara. I'm going to take Kimiko to see the snakes today. Do you wanna-" I wish I had knocked first before entered the bedroom because I walked in on Deidara as he had a towel around his waist.

Another towel was draped over his shoulders, probably for drying his hair. "Sorry, I should've knocked first!" I said, quickly turning around to give his privacy. "Why so shy on me, Nue? We're married. Besides, it's not like you haven't seen me naked before." Deidara said, almost seductively.

I blushed slightly when Deidara wrapped his arms around me from behind. "I know you were enjoying the view." He whispered before gently biting my ear. I closed my eyes as I felt my face turn red when Deidara started trailing his lips down to my neck.

"Deidara, we can't right now. Kimiko is just down the hall and if she hears us-"

"Don't worry about it."

I sighed and turned around so I was facing him and kissed him while my arms wrapped around his neck. "Why are you so irresistible?" I asked, looking up at him. "Because I'm a great husband." He boasted. "And an amazing kisser." I added.

"You know it." Deidara replied, pecking my lips. "Get dressed before Kimiko walks in on us... again." I said. The last time Kimiko did that, she started gagging dramatically. In our defense, she didn't knock before entering the room.

I went back to the kitchen the same time Kimiko walked in while dragging her feet. "You look like you slept rough." I mentioned. "I did. I think my bed is too comfortable, yeah." Kimiko joked. I smiled at her. "Eat your brunch." I said.

"Brunch?" She repeated. "What time is it?"

"Like I told you. It's 1 in the afternoon. I only let you sleep in until because it's a Saturday."

"Thank god it's Saturday, un."

Kimiko grew up with Deidara's blonde hair, the mouths on her hands, and his saying of "Un." or "Yeah." at the end of his sentences. She came to grow up with my wings and tails and fireball abilities. She also likes snakes and creating her own art from her clay, and she's still learning how to fly.

But what concerned me was that Kimiko was born with heterochromia. Her right eye is red like mine and her left eye is blue like Deidara's. Pretty weird, right? But she was still beautiful. Kimiko's become good friends with Boruto, Sarada, and Mitsuki.

On her first day in the academy, Kimiko was nervous about what the other kids will think of her wings and tails. I assured her she would be fine, but I was just as worried as she was. So, to make sure she wasn't bullied and her first day went well, I spied on her.

I expected her to be bullied by the other kids, but to my surprise, nobody made fun of her about her wings and tails. Mitsuki was the first person to approach Kimiko and become friends with her. I was grateful for that.

"Hey, Kimiko," Deidara greeted as he kissed her head. "How did you sleep?"

"Like a log," Kimiko smiled. "Dad, are you coming to see the snakes with us today?"

"Actually, I was thinking we could do something else today, Kimiko." Deidara said. "Eh? Like what?" She asked. Deidara and I looked at each other with a smile and I took out my mother's scroll, then summoned a birthday cake for her.

"Happy Birthday, Kimiko." I said. She gasped in surprise before jumping over the counter and hugged Deidara and I. "Thank you so much, you guys! I love you so much!" She said. "And we love you, too, Kimiko." Deidara said.

"Does that mean I can have cake for breakfast?" She asked. "Only if you brush your teeth afterwards. You don't wanna get a cavity." I said. "Sure thing!" Kimiko replied. "And when you're done with your cake, I was thinking I could teach you how to create your own bird to ride on, un."

"Really? Do you mean it?" Kimiko asked, excitedly. "Yep." Deidara nodded. "Awesome! Thanks, Dad!"

After she ate her birthday cake, Deidara trained her like he said he would while they were in the backyard. I watched them as I sat on the deck until I heard the doorbell ring. I got up and went to answer the door. I expected it to be Naruto since he always checks up on us.

But instead, I was greeted with Orochimaru and his son, Mitsuki. "It's nice to see you, Orochimaru. Mitsuki." I greeted. "Hi, Nue-san." Mitsuki greeted. "Can we come in?" Orochimaru asked. "Of course." I stepped aside and let them in.

"Do you know where Kimi-chan is?" Mistuki asked. "She's in the backyard with Deidara." I said, leading them there. When Kimiko and Deidara noticed, Kimiko screamed, "Mitsuki!"

Steam burst out of her ears as her face turned red as a tomato. "Hi, Kimi-chan." Mitsuki greeted with a smile. She quickly hid behind Deidara and frowned. "Kimiko, don't be rude. Say hello." I said. Kimiko frowned and poked her head out from behind Deidara's back.

"Hi... Mitsuki." She mumbled. "I apologize if we're interrupting your training." Orochimaru said. "We're actually just finishing up, un." Deidara said.

"Mitsuki, why don't you go play with Kimiko for a while?"Orochimaru suggested. "Okay." Mitsuki replied, giving a nod. "Kimi-chan, do you wanna play tag?" Mitsuki asked with a smile. "W-Why would I wanna play a childish game like that? I don't wanna... play that game." Kimiko said.

Mitsuki smiled at her. "Okay. Then, would you like to climb trees?" He suggested. "Climb?" Kimiko repeated. "Yeah, it'll be fun." Mitsuki said, gently taking her hand. Kimiko's face blushed bright red. "Hey, don't grab my hand like that!" Kimiko snapped, yanking her hand out of his hold.

"You're weird, Kimi-chan." Mistuki smiled. "I'm not weird! You're weird! Dad says I'm a spectacular work of art!" Kimiko defended. "Hmph." She turned around and closed her eyes as her arms were crossed over her chest.

"Let's go." Mitsuki said, once again taking Kimiko's hand and taking her over to the trees. "If I didn't know any better, I would say Little Kimiko has a crush on Mitsuki." Orochimaru mentioned. "Really? What gave it away?" Deidara said, sarcastically.

"Orochimaru, would you like me to get you anything to drink?" I asked. "I'm quite alright, thank you. But enough about me. How are you two doing?" He asked. "We're fine, yeah." Deidara said. "You know, Karin has been talking a lot about you lately. She really misses you." Orochimaru mentioned.

"I miss her, too. Maybe I'll come by tomorrow and have her and Kimiko meet." I said. "I'm sure she'll like that very much. Oh, and before I forget, I brought a little something for Kimiko," Orochimaru said. He went into his pocket and took out a snake necklace.

"Whoa..." Deidara and I said at the same time. "Consider it her birthday present." Orochimaru said, handing it to me. "That's very thoughtful of you, Orochimaru. Thank you." I said.

"Mom! Dad! Look what Mitsuki gave me, yeah!" Kimiko called as she and Mitsuki ran over to us. "Look!" Kimiko said, holding up the doll in front of us so we could see.

"Isn't it cute, un?" Kimiko said. "That looks like the same doll she was looking at in that store a couple weeks ago, un." Deidara mentioned. "Yeah, you're right," I agreed before glancing at Orochimaru. "Orochimaru, please don't tell me your son's been stalking my daughter every time we went out."

"Mitsuki said, he wanted to get Kimiko something for her birthday." Orochimaru said. "And Mitsuki. What did your father tell you to do?" Deidara asked the boy. "He told me to follow Kimiko around." Mitsuki said, innocently.

"You told your son to stalk my daughter?" I asked Orochimaru with a deadpan expression. "Stalking wouldn't be the exact word I'd use." He said. "Then, what word would you use, un?" Deidara asked.

"Watching her stealthily."

"That's the exact definition of stalking!" Deidara and I yelled at him, making him chuckle at our reaction. "Oh, that's right. Kimiko, Orochimaru got you something." I said, handing her the necklace. She gasped in amazement.

"It's beautiful!" She said, happily before hugging Orochimaru. "I love it! Thank you so much, Orochimaru!"

"You're very welcome, Kimiko." He replied. After Orochimaru and Mitsuki's visit and Kimiko thanked them again for her presents, we decided to have lunch. "Hey," Kimiko spoke. "I've been meaning to ask you guys something."

"What is it, Kimiko, un?" Deidara asked. "I'm a Nue, right?" She asked. "Half Nue, and half human." I corrected her. "Right, and you said a Nue posses these wings and tails on their back, right?" Kimiko asked. "That's right." Deidara nodded.

"Then... How come Mom's wings and tails aren't wings and tails at all? They're just red and blue feathered wings, un." Kimiko stated.

"Well, believe it or not, Kimiko. Your mother actually had a pair of wings and tails just like you." I said. "You did?" Kimiko asked, looking at me. "That's right." I said, smiling. "Then, what happened to them? How did they turn into that, yeah?" She asked, pointing at my wings.

"Well... Maybe one day, when you're older, I'll tell you all about it." I said. "Including you and Dad's journey?" She added. "Yep. Including our journey." Deidara nodded with a smile.

"Awesome! I can't wait!"
