Chapter 64: Flashbacks
I'm fucked!!! I don't know what to do! The war is too damn long and I don't know what to do with Nue! Help me! AAAHHHH!!!!
....
Okay, now that I'm done ranting, allow me to explain a few things. The next few chapters may be a little shorter or longer than what you're used to, and I apologize for that. But I really want to end this book so I can update my other books. So, just for your information, I will be doing some MAJOR skips in the story.
Also, the next few chapters will involve Nue's flashbacks. Thank you for your patience and for reading the story.
Enjoy!
3rd Person's POV
"So, this is what a Nue looks like." Madara said. Obito and Madara stood in front of Nue's tank as she slept peacefully. A few bubbles escaped her mouth while her hair gently floated around her.
"It's hard to believe one still exist after all these years. I've never seen one in person before. I'm surprised you were able to capture her." Madara said. "It wasn't easy. She put up more of a fight than I expected. She also had reinforcements." Obito explained.
"Hmm..." Madara took a step forward and placed his hand over the tank. "When will she awaken?" He asked Obito.
"When you want her to. You have the ability to wake her, but I must warn you that once she's awake, you can't put her back to sleep. After Nue wakes, she'll serve you as her Master. " Obito explained. "Is she any good?" Madara looked at him.
"Of course. She's stronger than any ninja on this earth."
"Any weaknesses?"
"Nue is very vulnerable to Kiragani. It's the only thing capable of harming her."
"Kiragani? So nothing else effects her?"
"Not really. She's able to endure any injury for a while, but she can't heal herself when a weapon is still inside her. Meaning, if she has sword driven through her, she can't heal until that sword is taken out of her."
"What if she somehow manages to get out of my control?"
'In the past, Nue being able to get out of my control was a bit of a problem. But with Madara's power, I don't think she'll be able to get out' Obito thought. "With your power, I doubt that will be a problem. But if that ever does happen, I'd advise you not to trigger her. When she's triggered, she'll become an unstoppable killing machine. In other words, she'll go unstable and will kill anyone and anything in sight." He informed Madara.
"Hmm... Thanks for the head-ups," Madara continued to stare at Nue and her wings and tails twitched slightly. "What can you tell me about her wings and tails?" He asked. "Nue's wings and tails allow her to shield herself from any attack." Obito explained.
"I see," Madara took his hand off the glass and turned around, walking away. "Time to get back to work. I'll awake her when I'm ready." He said. Obito looked at Nue and smirked before leaving the hideout.

While Nue slept, Kabuto was fighting Itachi and Sasuke while Obito was fighting Kakashi. The real Madara was fighting the other shinobi. While all that was happening, Nue was safely hidden away in the hideout, waiting to be awoken.
Inside Nue's mind, Eun decided to speak for the first time in a while. "Hey," Nue appeared sitting against her cage, both of them back to back. "Do you remember me?" She asked. Nue blinked her eyes before slowly nodding her head. "Your name... is Eun." Nue said.
"That's right," Eun nodded. "How much do you remember?"
"I... I don't know... I don't where I am... or how I got here... I don't even know what this place is. But... I just feel... so tired..." Nue said, her eyes slowly closing. "Hey, don't fall asleep. There's something I need to tell you. You have to remember this because this is important." Eun said.
Though she wasn't sure if there was really a point to telling Nue, knowing her memories were almost wiped. "Never forget who you are, Nue Houjuu. Never forget what you are." Eun said. And with that, Eun disappeared.
"Never forget... what I am?" Nue repeated. She closed her eyes as she felt herself quickly falling asleep. "But... what am I?" She whispered.

"Nue! Oi, Nue!"
Nue turned around as her cousin, Kameyo, tackled her to the ground in a hug. "Ow... What was that for, dammit?" Nue asked as her eyes were closed tightly from the slight pain she was feeling when she was tackled. "Get the fuck off me, Kame-chan." Nue frowned.
"You curse too much." Kameyo said, playfully. She got off Nue and sat on her knees with a stupid grin on her face. "Seriously, why do you always have the need to tackle me every time you see me?" Nue asked as she dusted herself off.
"Because we don't hang out as often! You're always so busy with training!" Kameyo whined, making Nue roll her eyes. "Well, I have to get strong or I can't protect the clan." Nue said. "Protect the clan? I don't remember you being the clan elder's daughter?" Kameyo joked.
"You're so bad with jokes." Nue began to walk away as Kameyo followed her. "Is there a reason you're following me right now?" Nue asked, annoyed, her hands in her pockets. "Because I sometimes worry about you." She stated.
"Worry about me? Why?"
"Because you always have this serious look on your face. Then again, you've been acting kind of weird every since your mother healed."
"I don't have time to talk right now, Kame-chan. I need to train."
Nue went to fly off until Kameyo grabbed the end of her shirt. "Kame-chan, let go." Nue instructed. "Since when were you able to fly?! Eh?! Even your wings and tails are growing in! Faster than mine!" Kameyo said, amazed.
"Is that jealousy I'm hearing, Kame-chan?" Nue asked with a smirk. "Of course I'm jealous! You're only four years old and you're already having a handle on your powers!" Kameyo admitted. Nue deadpanned as she watched her cousin anime cry.
"I'm supposed to be your older cousin. Why are you growing up so fast?" Kameyo whined. "I don't know." Nue mumbled, knowing how bad her cousin was at flying.
Every member of the Houjuu Clan had the ability to fly, but it takes practice to be able to fly properly. When a new member to the clan is born, their wings and tails slowly begin to grow. But Nue's wings and tails were growing miraculously fast and almost full grown.
"Don't worry, Kame-chan. You'll be able to fly soon." Nue assured her cousin. "By the way, rumor has it that you took in a human girl yesterday. Is that true?" Kameyo asked. "Yeah. So, what? She didn't have any place to go. My family and I are taking care of her from now on." Nue explained.
"Does this human have a name?"
"Her name's Karin. She's not like the other humans. Karin's different. Gentle... and kind."
"Aww! You really care for her, don't you? That's so sweet!" Kameyo cooed. "Shut up!" Nue snapped, blushing slightly. "I've gotta go." Kameyo let go of Nue's shirt, watching her fly off.
"Hey, you should swing by Granny Cat's place and pay her a visit! Tell her I said, hi! Oh! And I left you a gift on your bed! Go check it out later!" Her cousin called. Nue flew to her usual training spot as she thought about what Kameyo said about visiting Nekomata.
"Well, I guess I could skip training for today. I've been working hard this week. I could use a little break." Nue told herself. She flew the other direction, heading to Nekomata's castle.
Once she was there, she first place she went to was Granny Cat's shop. "Granny Cat!" Nue called. "Must you be so loud, Nue?" Granny Cat said. Nue grinned as she walked over to her. Cats that were gathered in the shop quickly ran over to Nue to greet her.
"One at a time, guys. I'm only one girl." Nue said as she kneeled down to pet the cats. Multiple cats jumped on her as she petted a couple of them. "How ya been, Granny Cat?" Nue asked as a white cat rubbed itself against Nue.
"Oh, you know. Same old, same old. How about you? How's your mother?" Granny Cat asked.
"She's doing better."
"That's good. You must be here to see Nekomata, right?"
"Yeah." Nue nodded.
"He's in his castle. Well, go on. You know how he likes it when you come to see him." Granny Cat smiled. Nue grinned at her and took the kitten off her shoulder, getting setting it on the ground, before going to see Nekomata.
She flew through the window of Nekomata's castle and walked towards the huge door. Instead of knocking, she pushed the door open, letting herself in. "Who's there?" Nekomata growled, angrily from behind the huge curtain.
"Your cleaning lady." Nue answered, sarcastically. Nekomata chuckled as he recognized Nue's voice. "Nice to see you, too, Nue. What brings you here?" He asked. "Eh, just got bored and needed a change of scenery." Nue said with a shrug as she walked down the long hallway, towards him.
"Hey, how come you're always hidden away behind that curtain? Let me see your face." She said, frowning. "You're gonna have to come over here. I'm comfortable where I am." Nekomata said. "Lazy ass cat." Nue mumbled as she slowly floated over to him.
She flew over the curtain and softly landed on Nekomata's belly. "Your fur is really soft," Nue mentioned as she got comfortable in his fur. "I could stay here all day."
"If you do that, then your mother will worry. How is she, by the way?"
"She's doing better. But I'm still a bit pissed off for what the humans did to her."
"Don't worry, Little Nue. You'll get your revenge."
Nue frowned. "I thought I told you not to call me by that nickname. I hate that name." She said as she rolled on her stomach. "I know. That's why I said it." Nekomata said. "Bastard." Nue mumbled as she closed her eyes, in which Nekomata chuckled.
During her visit, Nue took a nap with Nekomata and played with the cats, sometimes training with them. She would also have one of her alcoholic drinks from the bar. "Aren't you a little young to be drinking?" Nekomata asked her.
"Maybe. But I don't get drunk when I drink this stuff." Nue stated as she took another sip. Nekomata yawned as Nue looked up at him. "Looks like it's gotten late," Nue flew up to his shoulder and hugged him.
"I'm gonna head home now. Thanks for letting me visit, Nekomata." She said. "Thanks for coming. Come by next week?" Nekomata asked. "Definitely." Nue nodded. She said goodbye to the cats she played with earlier before going home.
When she got home, she flew in front of the door and opened it. "Tadaima!" Nue called as she entered her house. "There she is!" Nue's father, Tatsuo, greeted as he picked up her daughter. "Dad, you're home!" Nue cheered. "When did you get back?"
"Just a few minutes ago. You smell like a cat. I take it you visited Nekomata?" He guessed. "Uh-huh." Nue nodded her head, then hugged him. "Is Mom still asleep?" She asked him. "Actually, she just woke up. I'll take you to her." Tatsuo said, taking her to Hotaru.
Nue's father knocked on the door twice before opening it. Hotaru sat in bed while she was looking through a photo album. "Welcome home, Tatsuo." Hotaru greeted with a kind smile. "Mom!" Nue cheered, flying over to her mother and hugging her.
"Hello, Nue. How was your day?" She asked her as she held Nue. "I had so much fun! I visited Nekomata and we had tons of fun!" Nue explained, making Hotaru chuckled. "That explains why you smell like him." She joked.
Tatsuo took a seat next to Hotaru and looked at the photo album she was looking through. "Ah, I remember this one. That was the day your mother and I met." He said. "Cool. Oh, Mom, you look so beautiful." Nue said in awe.
Her eyes went to another photo and raised a brow. "Who are these people?" She asked, pointing at another picture. "That's Kushina Uzumaki and Minato Namikaze." Tatsuo said. "When was this picture taken?" Nue asked. "Oh, this was a long time ago. Before you were even born." Hotaru said, smiling.
"Are they human?"
"Yes. The nicest humans we've met."
"Humans aren't nice," Nue frowned. "They're cruel, selfish, arrogant, and nothing but monsters with shit for brains."
"Language, Nue." Hotaru said. "They're none of that, Nue. They just don't understand our situation." Tatsuo said. "They're monsters who want us dead!" Nue snapped. "Nue, calm down," Hotaru gently stroked her hair and Nue almost instantly relaxed with a sigh.
"Humans aren't that bad. Maybe someday, you'll learn to love humans. Just like how you love Karin." Her mother said. Nue blushed slightly as she puffed out her cheeks, thinking about the day she saved Karin.
It's true, Nue did love Karin in a sibling way, but she would never admit that to anyone else but her family. "I'm gonna go check on her, then maybe take a nap." Nue informed as she hopped off the bed. She walked down the hall and slowly opened the door to Karin's room.
The door creaked open as she spotted Karin asleep on the bed, her glasses lying on the desk beside her. Nue walked over to her and gently petted her hair. "Goodnight, Karin." She whispered. Nue gently kissed Karin's head before leaving the room, quietly closing the door behind her.
When she got to her room, she found the gift her cousin mentioned on her bed and opened it. She sweat dropped as it was an outfit. (So, if you remember that one chapter where Hotaru was showing Karin, Jugo, Suigetsu, and Megumi the pictures of Nue and Megumi got a nosebleed when she saw Nue in a "sexy" outfit. That's the outfit Nue got)
"Kame-chan, just what the hell were you thinking?" Nue mumbled. "I was obviously thinking of you!" Kameyo said, surprising Nue.
Nue screamed as she fell off the bed, landing on the floor. "What the hell are you doing here, Kame-chan? I thought you went home?" Nue said as Kameyo sat on the ceiling. "I wanted to wait for you to get back." She said, making Nue sigh.
She got off the floor and dusted her clothes off. "I also met Karin." Kameyo mentioned. "You didn't harm her, did you?" Nue asked, sounding protective. "Don't get all hostile on me. I didn't do anything to her. She just helped me focus on my chakra and she helped me with kunai throwing." She explained.
"I see." Nue replied, looking down a bit. "Hey, I've got an idea! Let's take a bath together!" Kameyo said. "Shh! Not so loud! You're gonna wake Karin!" Nue shushed her cousin.
"Oh, come on! We barely get to spend any time together! Please! Pretty please!" Kameyo begged. Nue sighed, knowing her cousin wasn't gonna stop whining until she said yes. "All right, all right. We'll take a bath together." Nue said, giving in. "Yay!" Kameyo cheered.
After they were stripped out of their clothing and the tub was filled, Kameyo and Nue got in as they faced each other. "Your human friend is really nice. And kind of shy." Kameyo mentioned.
"Well, of course she's shy. She's a human around a bunch of strangers with wings and tails on their backs. I don't blame her for acting the way she does." Nue said as she splashed some water on her face. "I think you're gonna be a good influence on her some day." Kameyo smiled.
"By the way, how was the visit with Nekomata?"
"How did you know I went to Nekomata's place?"
"Because you smell like a cat."
"You, too, huh? Everyone knows I went to him just because I smell like a cat." Nue looked at her, blankly. Kameyo giggled while sinking a bit under the water. She gave a relaxed sigh as she stared at the ceiling before glancing at Nue as she continued to splash some water on her face.
Kameyo smirked before sinking herself into the water. "Eh? Kame-chan? What are you doing?" Nue asked. "Kame-chan?" She looked around, trying to find her until Kameyo poked her head out from under the water.
"What are you doing?" Nue asked, bluntly. "Just trying to scare you." Kameyo admitted. "Try harder." Nue said, gently splashing water on her cousin. "Aw, you're so adorable! I love you!" Kameyo suddenly hugged Nue, making her look at her older cousin.
"You're older than me by three years, and you're acting like a toddler." Nue mentioned. "That's because you're my best friend." Kameyo smiled at her. The cousins looked at each other, then giggled.
After their bath, Kameyo went home and Nue sat on the roof of her house, watching the stars. She sat their for a while and laid on her back with her fingers locked behind her head. "The moon... is invisible tonight." She whispered as she closed her eyes.
Twenty minutes later, Nue heard a scream from inside the house. She quickly flew through her window and ran into Karin's room since that's where the screaming was coming from. She found Karin thrashing around in bed, screaming her head off.
"Karin!" Nue ran over to her and tried to wake her up. "Karin, wake up! You're having a bad dream! Wake up!" Nue said. Karin's eyes snapped open as she gasped. She panted while she was covered in sweat.
"Just calm down. Take a deep breath and calm down." Nue said, gently rubbing her back. Karin quickly hugged Nue, crying into her chest. 'Must've been a scary dream' Nue thought. "It's okay. You're okay." Nue said as she held Karin, trying to calm down her down.
"I dreamed that you... Hotaru-san... Tatsuo-san... All of you were dead... and I was all alone again!" Karin cried. "Karin, look at me," Karin looked up and sniffled as Nue wiped her tears away. "That will never happen. As long as I'm here, I promise I'll keep you safe. I won't let anything happen to you." Nue vowed.
Karin hugged Nue tightly as she started to cry again. "Shh... it's okay. I'm right here. Now and forever." Nue whispered as she gently held Karin in her arms.
Later that night, Karin eventually fell back asleep as Nue stayed by her side, making sure she didn't get any nightmares again.
Meanwhile, Hotaru was using her powers as she created a crystal ball, looking at Nue and Karin. She smiled at the cute moment of Nue acting like a big sister to Karin while Tatsuo was asleep next to her. "Kawaii." Hotaru whispered before making the crystal ball disappear.
She rested her hands on the blanket and looked out the window, admiring the night sky. "Someday... you'll learn to love all humans... Nue." Hotaru whispered with a smile.

Two weeks later, Nue was packing to head on her journey to visit all the Jinchuriki for training. "Do you really have to go?" Karin asked as she watched her pack. "Yes, Karin. In order for me to become strong, I have to train hard." Nue said.
"How long will you be gone?"
"A year, at the least. I should be back before that time."
"How long will you be staying with each of the Jinchuriki?"
"2, maybe 3 months. Depends on the training."
"Nue, are you ready to go?" Tatsuo called from downstairs. "Just about!" She called back. When she finished packing, she headed downstairs as Karin followed her.
"I'll be back before you know it." Nue said to Karin. She hugged her and Karin hugged her back. "Have a safe journey, Nue." Hotaru said with a kind smile. Nue hugged her tightly as she feared leaving her mother would result to her being attacked by humans again.
As if reading her mind, Hotaru said, "I'll be fine, Nue. We'll all be fine." She said.
After she said her goodbyes, Tatsuo and Nue put on their cloaks and headed off on their journey. The first village they went to was the Hidden Sand Village.
