Chapter 60: For Her
Hotaru's POV
I grunted as I tried to break free of the chains that held my wrists and ankles. My body was held like an 'X', so it was harder for me to break free. "Just give it up, Hotaru. You're never going to break free. Those chains are made out of pure Kiragani metal." Madara told me.
"What do you want with my daughter? What do you plan on doing to her?" I demanded while glaring at him.
"Nothing special. I'm just going to brainwash her and have her be my ultimate ninja weapon. Once I rule this Shinobi World, Nue will be there by my side. Heh... It'll be like having an adorable little pet around the house." Madara chuckled.
"You bastard! You keep your filthy hands off my daughter!" I snapped. "Madara, she's here." Zetsu informed, making me gasp. "No..." I whispered in terror. I looked towards the entrance as I saw Nue walking towards us.
"Nue, no! Get away from here! Now!" I called to her. Nue didn't say anything as she stood there with a frown. "I'm here. Now, let my mother go." Nue commanded. "I was beginning to think you weren't going to show." Madara mentioned.
"I don't sense anyone else with her." Kabuto informed. "You're such a good girl you are, Nue." Madara said. "Just let her go, and I'm all yours. But you have to promise me that no harm will brought to my mother. You must give me your word." Nue said.
"Nue, listen to me! Don't do this! Just run away before it's too late!" I called to her, but she ignored me. Nue looked at me, then at Madara. "Give me your word, Madara." Nue ordered, her glare darkening. "You have my word." Madara said.
"Then, let her go." She commanded. Madara snapped his fingers and the shackles around my wrists and ankles released me, allowing me to fall to the floor. "Mom!" Nue ran over to me to make sure I was okay, kneeling down on one knee.
"Are you okay?" She asked. "Yes, I'm fine." I confirmed. "Let's go. We don't have all day here." Madara said, impatiently. Nue frowned at him before looking at me. "Anything else you wish to say before you leave your mother once and for all?" Zetsu asked her.
"Yeah. I do," Nue closed her eyes for a moment as she rose to her feet before opening them. Madara... You should've seen this coming from a mile away. Now!"
I looked up and gasped as I saw Megumi attack Madara from above with her claw-like nails. He leaped back, trying to get away from her. "This is what happens when you fuck with the wrong people, Madara!" Megumi yelled as she tried to scratch him.
"Jugo, Suigetsu! Now!" Nue called. They came out of nowhere and began to attack Kabuto. Nue quickly joined in as the three of them fought Kabuto. I guess Megumi didn't need help because she was that strong to handle Madara.
"Come on, let's get you out of here," Karin quickly helped me to my feet as she held my side and had my arm over her neck. "I don't understand. How... are you all here?" I asked as she helped me out of the hideout. "I'll explain later. Right now, we need to get you out of here." She said, leading me out of the hideout.
"But Nue... She's..." I trailed off as I looked back at my daughter while she fought. Nue got kicked in the chest and slid on her back. But she didn't give up as she got back on her feet and began fighting again.
"Hotaru, I promise Nue will be fine. But right now, we have to get you out of here." Karin said. "This is all my fault..." I murmured. I didn't want any of this. I didn't mean for any of this to happen. "I'm so sorry..." I said to Karin.
I got out of her hold and flew forward. "Hotaru, where are you going?" Karin called. I didn't answer as I continued to fly forward. "This was a mistake. A big mistake." I said to myself. I went around the hideout, near the back entrance.
"Hotaru! Are you alright?" Karin called as she found me. "Karin... Stay where you are." I said as my back still faced her. "Huh? Hotaru...?" I created a see-through wall, separating the two of us. I heard Karin gasp as the wall was made. "Hotaru!" She called.
I smirked as my hair covered my eyes. "I'm such a fool. I should have never showed myself to Nue. I knew if we were to meet again, I would only bring her more pain and destruction. And to make things worst, I had you, her friend and sister, get involve. I never meant to put you in danger, Karin. But I... just wanted to see my daughter one last time,"
I bit some skin off the back of my hand, letting the blood trail down and drip to the ground. "If I do this... then the burden will not longer be on Nue's shoulders. This... is the only way... to defeat him." I said as I summoned four pillars around me.
"Hotaru, what are you doing?! Stop!" Karin called. "Karin... I want you to continue to look after my daughter... your sister. You two are family, so I ask you... to look after each other. That is my final wish. Just seeing you two side by side, cherishing those wonderful, beautiful moments... that was enough to make me happy." I said.
"No! Don't do this, Hotaru!" Karin screamed. I bit my lip, forcing back the tears that were threatening to escape. "I'm sorry... I'm sorry! I will always love you two. I will always look after you two, and pray you two live a happy life." I said.
I opened my scroll and laid it down on the ground. "Release..." A white ball of light emerged from the scroll, gently floating above the palm of my hands. I planned to blow this place up while taking my own life, and Madara's.
I'm not letting him get you, Nue. I'll never let you go.
"This... is my sacrifice." I whispered. I turned around, facing Karin and smiled my last smile. "Goodbye... my daughter..." I said. "MOM!!!" Karin yelled as she pounded her fists on the wall. She gave up after a couple more attempts and sank to her knees as tears ran down her cheeks.
With the gentle smile still plastered on my face, I raised the white ball of light to my chest and it slowly entered me. Red, green, blue, and pink rays of light shot out from the four pillars, hitting directly at my chest at my the same time, where the white light was stored.
"Sayonara... Nue..."
Nue's POV
"It's over, Kabuto. You lose." I said as I had my foot against his chest with my katana in hand. I aimed the tip of the blade at his face as I glared at him. "Hehe... You really think I lost? Try again." Kabuto said.
I frowned at him before looking over, spotting an explosion that was going to engulf us all. "Run for it!" I called to Megumi, Jugo, and Suigetsu. I grabbed all three of them and flew in the air to get away from the blast. I flew high above the explosion, watching it engulf everything.
When it finally desist, I gently floated to the ground, setting everybody down. "Is everybody okay?" I asked. "Yeah, we're fine." Jugo said. "Where's Karin?" I asked, looking around. "I saw her run off that way. I'm pretty sure she was far off from the blast." Suigetsu answered.
We ran towards the direction Karin ran to. As we were running, I couldn't help but wonder where that explosion came from. Who made it happen?
"Karin!" I called as I spotted her. She sat on her knees as her head was lowered. "Karin, what's the matter?" I asked as I kneeled down, placing my hands on her shoulders. "Hotaru... She.... She..." Karin trailed off as her shoulders began to tremble.
I looked ahead and spotted a body lying on the ground. I ran over to it and gasped, recognizing it immediately. "Mom!" I ran over to her, sliding on my knees. I picked her up in my lap and held her there while moving her hair off her face.
"Mom, wake up! Come on, wake up! Don't go!" I said. I checked her pulse and my eyes widened in shock. "No... No! Don't do this! Don't do this to me again! Not twice! Come on, wake up! Please! Wake up! Mom!"
I began shaking her in attempt to wake her up, but nothing was working. "No way..." I sniffled as my eyes softened with tears streaming down my face. "No, please... Don't go. Please, don't go... Not again... Please... Come back.... Mom..." I whispered.
I hugged her close to my body and began to sob. "Please come back, Mom... Please..." I whispered.
After sobbing for ten mintes, I sat there, holding my mother's corpse in my arms. "Nue-kun... I'm sorry..." Megumi said, placing a hand on my shoulder. I hugged my mother's body tighter. "So... What happens now?" Suigetsu asked.
"I'm not putting anyone at risk anymore," I gently lied my dead mother on the ground before standing to my feet. "I'm going to find Madara on my own, and I'm going to fight him." I said. "Are you crazy?! You've seen how powerful he is! Madara will kill you!" Megumi said.
"I don't care! That bastard killed my mother, and I'm not just gonna sit here and let him kill someone else dear to me!" I said. "But, Nue... What if you're not strong enough to beat him? What if he kills you before you get the chance to kill him?" Karin asked.
"He'll try, but he'll fail. I know he's strong and everything, but I have to do this." I said. "We'll come with you." Megumi said. "No, you're not. You've all done so much for me already. I can't have you guys risking your lives for me." I said.
"But Madara will-!"
"I said, you're not coming with me, Megumi! And that's that!"
Megumi frowned at my stubbornness. "I'm not letting you fight him alone, Nue-kun. I know how powerful he is, and I know how much you wanna kill this guy. But you won't get far. I know this guy, Nue-kun. I know how he operates. Therefore, I'm coming with you, whether you like it or not." She said, persistently.
I frowned at her as Karin, Jugo, and Suigetsu looked from me to Megumi, to me again, each of them with nervous expressions on their faces. "I'm sorry to do this." I mumbled. "Hey!" They all yelled when I quickly created a light purple force field around the four of them.
"What the hell?!" Suigetsu yelled. "Nue!" Karin said as she slammed her hands against the field. "Nue-kun, what do you think you're doing?! Let us out of here!" She yelled. "I can't risk having you guys getting hurt because of me. You'll be safe behind this field. It's impenetrable." I informed.
"Nue, don't do this! Let us out! We can help you!" Karin said. "Goodbye." I whispered before running off.
"Nue, no!"
"Nue/Nue-kun!"
I listened to them call after me as I ran forward. "I'm sorry, guys... but I have to do this on my own." I said. I frowned as my eyes changed purple with anger. "Madara... You've hurt me for the last time. You killed my mother... and for that, you must die!"
I took off into the sky as I already knew where Madara was. "Madara Uchiha... You're dead!!!" I yelled before flying faster to my destination.
I have to do this. I have to destroy Madara.
For my people.
For my clan.
For the sake of my loved ones.
For her...
For my mother...
