Harry asked Kathy to the party just as friends. First, Kathy didn't want to go but finally agreed because ginny insisted. Ginny didn't want to leave Kathy behind.

Ginny asked dean and he agreed. Neville asked luna(it's a date). So everyone's going.

Well, it's the evening and the party begins in another fifteen minutes. Harry was called by dumbledore right before it, so he excused himself.

Harry's Pov

I'm late. Kathy would be waiting for me. I finally reached there and saw Kathy tapping her feet on the floor impatiently.
Shit!

"Shall we go?" I smiled rubbing my neck.

"Just thinking you wouldn't show up all night" Kathy groaned.

"Sorry"

As we entered, the room is highly decorated and filled with students and professors. I saw Romilda and her friends glaring at Kathy. They probably thought Kathy's my date. I ignored them.

Kathy sighed "this evening is gonna be so amusing" her voice filled with sarcasm.

I chuckled and glanced at her. "Oh! By the way, you look beautiful"

"Wow, I'm amazed you noticed me harry" she smirked. "Also, those words should be told by my date and you're not my date"

"Okay, I'm taking that back" I retorted.

"Don't" she playfully glared.

I grinned. I never spent much time with Kathy but I noticed she's fun.

"Nice robes," she said.

"Should I take that as a comment or a compliment?" I joked.

"I rarely give compliments, Harry. But this is surprisingly a compliment" she snickered.

I can't help but laugh at every sentence she spoke. "I know, that's why I wore them" I grinned cockily.

She glared at me. "For that matter, only your robes are good looking not you"

This time I laughed out loud.

"What's so funny, Harry?" Asked Ron as he and Hermione reached us.

"Nothing" I covered. "So, how's the party?"

"Boring" answered Hermione.

"Where's ginny?" Asked Kathy.

My heart flipped when I heard that name.
I totally forgot she's gonna be here with dean.

"Oh, seems like she's the only one enjoying here" mione pointed to a corner where ginny is laughing with a group that includes dean, Neville and luna.

I almost forgot to breathe as I saw ginny. She's breathtaking.
Damn! Does she even know how gorgeous she looks tonight? Of course, she doesn't. If she's not that oblivious we'd have been together now.

My thoughts were interrupted when Kathy shouted ginny's name. Her beautiful eyes immediately searched for who called her. She blazed a bright smile in our direction and that's it, my heart began to race like never before.

Breathe...breathe harry

She turned back to dean whispering something in his ear and grabbed his hand wandering towards us. Seeing that, my teeth gritted and my fist clenched automatically.

Is she insane? I'm pretty sure dean could walk by himself. She is purposely being close to dean. Abruptly something stuck in my head.

What if ginny likes dean?

Oh no,
Dean's a handsome bloke.

"Hey guys" she greeted along with dean, Neville and luna.

"Having fun, aren't we?" Smirked Kathy.

"Maybe a little" ginny smiled. She averted her gaze from Kathy to me and smiled.

I didn't return. I'm not in the mood to smile.

Maybe she noticed my frown. "Hey Harry," she said.

With hesitancy, "hey" I slightly nodded.

"Oh! Luna, you look gorgeous. Isn't she, Neville?" Kathy smirked at Neville. He turned to beat red at her comment. I almost laughed if I weren't in this situation.

"Y-yes" Neville stuttered as everyone laughed.

I was quiet for the rest of the conversation. Hermione, Ron and luna, Neville left making some excuse which I barely heard.

"I'll bring drinks," said dean leaving Kathy, ginny and me.

"Harry, what's wrong?" Ginny instantly asked reaching for my hand. I backed away.

I glanced at her to see her worry-filled eyes. Is she worried about me? As I stared into her eyes, for a minute I thought she didn't like dean instead she likes me.

That's when I understood I could be on my worst temper but will soften when I look at her. "Don't worry, I'm fine" I shrugged.

"Didn't you see harry's dress robes ginny?" Teased Kathy.

I rolled my eyes. Not this again.

"Of course, I did. They are perfect, just like him" she winked at me.

I blushed at her words. How can I not? Why is she giving me mixed emotions?

"You're making him blush, ginny" Kathy laughed and so did ginny.

These both girls are gonna be the death of me.

A little later dean arrived with drinks and dean and ginny walked away. I frowned.

Author's Pov

"I'll bring drinks" announced harry.

Kathy nodded.

Just as Harry began to make his way to the drinks a voice interrupted him.

"Harry, m'boy!"

Harry know this voice. He sighed before he swivelled around to find Professor Slughorn in front of him.

"I've been searching for you since the beginning of the party" he exclaimed.

"Sorry, sir. Professor Dumbledore needed me. I arrived late" Harry replied.

"That's okay, Harry." He brushed it off. "So, is this beautiful lady here your date?" He asked looking at Kathy.

Kathy blushed.

"No, sir. We're here as friends" harry quickly said blushing himself.

"Oh! My bad. What's your name, dear?" He asked

"Kathy Burton, sir" she politely replied.

"Good good. Would you mind if I snatch harry for some time?" He asked.

"No sir. Not at all" She shook her head.

Slughorn dragged harry away to introduce him to some guests.

Kathy strolled to get a drink herself.

After ten more minutes,

"Oh look! It's the mudblood" snickered pansy who's walking towards Kathy along with Blaise.

Kathy sighed as she glanced at them. She know them. Hermione told her all about the Slytherins.

"Leave me alone. I don't know who invited you to a place like this but you mostly deserves to be in the dungeons" Kathy snapped folding her arms across her chest.

"Looks like the mudblood's on fire, Blaise" smirked pansy. "I guess we should show her righteous place," said pansy as she poured her glass of mead on Kathy's dress.

Kathy and Blaise gasped.

"You bitc--" Kathy is interrupted when a pair of strong hands grabbed her arms.

"Parkinson! How dare you!?" Shouted harry.

"Of course! Potter's here to save the day as always" giggled pansy.

"You've crossed the line, pug face. You shouldn't have hurt her" warned harry, his eyes are fuming with anger.

Kathy just didn't understand what's going on. She gazed between pansy and harry and at harry's hand that's holding hers. She felt chills.

She always admired harry knowing his past and everything but now it's different. Harry that's defending her, protecting her. He looked absolutely stunning as he glared at pansy.

Kathy's mouth went dry as she figured she's falling...for him.

Some of the crowd are staring at the scene which brought ginny's attention who currently is talking to dean. Ginny instantly excused herself from dean as she saw Kathy and harry.

Harry pulled his wand from his robe pockets and pointed to pansy. "Run before I hex you" he warned again.

"What's going on?" Asked ginny panting cause she ran over here. No one answered. Harry's gaze is fixated on pansy and his hands are tightly wrapped around Kathy's.

Kathy's gaze fixated on harry.

"I'll deal with you mudbloods later" sighed pansy in defeat and walked away with Blaise.

"Kathy, what happened?" Ginny asked again.

Harry glanced at ginny but ignored her as he walked away dragging Kathy along with him.

Ginny's worried about what just happened at the same time she felt some kind of strange feeling when she saw harry walk away from her with Kathy.

She didn't know what that is but she didn't like it.
