Waiting

Ash POV

The day of the dance party has finally arrived. There is an excitement buzzing among us as we get ready for the day. The girls seem especially enthusiastic and spend the morning giggling amongst themselves, talking about dresses, unicorns, and whatever other weird stuff girl's talk about. I am actually looking forward to tonight's party, but Clemont just seems nervous. He continues to double check that everything is ready, and I see him frantically trying to remember dance steps as he makes lunch. I shake my head and sigh, finally walking up to him. I tap him on the shoulder as he mumbles under his breath. He jumps and turns around in surprise.

"You okay Clemont?" I ask, trying to hold in a laugh. The nervous boy sighs.

"Yeah I'm fine, I just thought you were Miette," he replies. I glance over at the energetic girl, who is talking excitedly with Serena.

"Oh come on man, she's not that bad," I say. Clemont sighs again.

"I know I know, she just keeps on reminding me the dance steps over and over, it's making me jumpy," he replies, rubbing his neck. I nod in understanding; I'm not the best dancer myself. Of course Serena is a great teacher, and with her help, I managed to catch on to most of the dances. I look over at Serena and Clemont follows my gaze. His posture relaxes a bit.

"Are you nervous?" He asks, taking me a bit by surprise. I scratch the back of my head.

"Me? No, no, not really..." I lie. Clemont catches my nervous glance at Serena. Clemont looks at me skeptically. "Okay, maybe a little," I admit.

"Don't worry bro, you'll do fine," he assures me. I flash him a small grin. Clemont returns it and goes back to making lunch. As he turns away my grin fades. I want it all to go perfect... for her. I want to be the Prince that sweeps her off her feet, but can I do it? The guy who can't even kiss a girl? I just stand there staring at her, thinking about how stupid I am. I don't know how to dance; I don't know a thing about girls, or fairytales, or... love. I don't even know if I love her. Or maybe, I'm just scared to. Scared that I will ruin things. Ruin what we have. But I can't help but feel different when she looks at me; I feel like I can do anything. She turns her head towards me and we make eye contact. As her cerulean eyes look into mine, I can see it; she believes in me. Of course- I won't be alone tonight, Serena will be there, by my side. She will help me through it. And that's all I need. She gives me a worried look.

"Are you okay?" She mouths silently. I nod and flash her a grin.

"Never better," I mouth back. She still looks a bit concerned but she smiles back anyways. She deserves to be a princess for a night. And I will be her Prince.

Ash POV

I look into the mirror of the guest bedroom, adjusting my light blue tie. Bonnie, being the crafty girl she is, made sure that both couples would be matching tonight. I have yet to see Serena but apparently she is wearing blue. I think she will look good in blue. I struggle with my tie some more. I can't seem to tie it so that it looks right. After a lot of tugging and twisting, I manage to get it looking somewhat decent. I had already tried to flatten my wild raven hair, but to no avail. Eventually I just gave up. I look over at Pikachu who is admiring his blue bowtie in the dresser mirror. He struts back and forth, looking pleased. I look into the mirror one last time.

"We sure are hot stuff aren't we Pikachu," I say, sighing, looking at my unruly hair and oddly twisted tie. Pikachu doesn't seem to pick up on my sarcasm, letting out an enthusiastic "Pika!" of agreement. I chuckle at my yellow friend and motion him towards the door.

"C'mon bud, let's go see the others," I say, and Pikachu scampers along beside me. I open the door and head downstairs where the others are waiting.

I wonder what Serena's dress looks like. Not that it matters, she looks beautiful in anything. I head down the stairs, peeking over the banister and looking for the others. The stairs make a turn and I can now see into the main room, which is full of people and Pokemon. My eyes immediately fall on Serena. She is wearing a long, blue, floor-length dress, that seems to shimmer as she moves. The blue silk fabric makes her cerulean eyes look brighter and more brilliant than ever. She wears a thin string of pearls around her neck and matching pearly white earrings. Without realizing, my steps slow to a stop. She looks beautiful. Serena looks up, taking notice of my presence. A brilliant smile spreads across her face when she sees me.

"Ash, you look so handsome," she remarks, walking over to me. I try to stop staring.

"Th-thanks," I manage to reply, scratching my cheek nervously. "You look amazing." Serena blushes and looks down.

"Thank you Ash, that's very sweet," she replies quietly. When she looks back up she stops, then covers her mouth, stifling a sound. I look at her concerned. She turns away, trying to avoid my gaze.

"Serena, is everything alright?" I ask worriedly. Serena turns back around.

"No, no, everything is fine... it's just..." I watch anxiously and Serena seems to be looking for the right words.

"It's just... your tie," she finishes, bursting into a fit of giggles. I let out the breath I had been holding and roll my eyes. She tries to control her laughter.

"I'm sorry, but... I mean.. What did you do to it?" She manages to get out in between laughs. I let out a huff of annoyance.

"It was working against me, this was the best I could do," I say. Serena manages to calm down her laughter, although a slight smile still remains. She walks up to me and begins fiddling with the tie, eventually undoing it. I try to watch her hands as she re-ties the tie for future reference, but continually find myself looking back to her eyes, which are focused on the tie. She glances up at me once, catching me watching her and blushes, quickly looking away.

"Ta-da!" She announces. "All done." She steps back to admire her handywork and I look down. The tie now lies in a neat line down my suit.

"Thanks," I say to Serena.

"Don't mention it," she replies nonchalantly. She then leads me into the front room where the others are waiting. Bonnie looks up when we walk in.

"You two look so kawaii!!" She exclaims, clapping her hands together. Serena smiles.

"You look pretty too Bonnie," she says.

"I do don't I," Bonnie replies, striking a model pose. Serena and I both laugh. I look over at Clemont and Miette. Clemont seems to be having a nervous breakdown. He keeps glancing over at Miette, unsure of what to say to her. Miette just looks bored. She looks up at Clemont, as if waiting for him to say something but he stays silent. She rolls her eyes.

"You look nice Clemont," she says, trying to get him to talk. The blonde haired boy jumps.

"Oh! Um, thanks..." he replies. "You, uh, look nice too?" He adds nervously, his voice going higher at the end. Miette's eyes narrow.

"You say that like its a question," she growls. Clemonts voice goes even higher in fear.

"No, you really do look pretty!" He exclaims, turning red. Miette raises an eyebrow. She stares him down. Clemont sits there unmoving. She finally seems to come to the conclusion that Clemont is innocent.

"Thanks!" She says cheerily, sitting back in her chair. Clemont sighs in relief. Miette looks up, now noticing Serena and I. A devious grin spreads across her face.

"You guys look absolutely adorable!" She squeals, standing up and walking over to us. "Just like a real couple!" Serena and I both turn bright red.

"Miette, its not-" Serena begins, looking embarassed, but Miette cuts back in.

"I know, I know," she says in exasperation. "I was just sayin." Miette goes to get her things while Serena and I stand in an awkward silence.

"Come on!" She exclaims, grabbing Clemont's hand and opening the door for Bonnie. I look to Serena, who is nervously fingering her necklace.

"Shall we?" I ask, holding my hand out to Serena, causing her to look up. She nods and takes it, a small smile turning up the corners of her mouth. I lead her outside, where there is a sleek black limo waiting. I recognize Henry, Serena's chaffeur holding the door. As we approach, he eyes Serena's hand in mine suspiciously. At first I am confused, but then remember our first encounter. Right. I give him an uncomfortable nod of thanks as I get in. I will have to explain that later. There is enough room in the back seat to fit all five of us. The Pokemon are sitting up front. There are two rows of seats facing eachother in back. Clemont and Miette sit facing Serena, Bonnie and I. We sit in silence for the first couple of minutes until Bonnie speaks up. A smirk crosses her face.

"Big brother, can I pretty please come sit by you?" She says, grinning. Clemont looks at her curiously, while Miette smiles deviously.

"Um, sure, I guess," Clemont replies, shrugging. Bonnie gets up and trades spots, leaving Serena and I alone. She's devious alright. I try to pretend like I don't notice why she moved seats. Serena twists a lock of hair nervously. Miette looks her way.

"Oh and Serena?" She says. Serena looks up.

"Y-yes?" She replies.

"Can you scoot closer to Ash, I need somewhere to put my bag," Miette says. Serena turns bright red, trying to form a reply.

"Thanks," Miette says, pushing Serena into me. Serena looks up at me, her face crimson. She lets out a nervous laugh then leans back.

"I need room for my bag too!" Bonnie exclaims.

"Oh come on," Serena grumbles.

"Please Serena?" Bonnie says. Serena sighs and scoots closer to me. Our arms are now touching as are our knees. I feel my face warm up. Bonnie plops her bag down next to Miette's.

"Aw you guys look so cute and matchy!" Miette says. "You would make such a cute couple." My face turns bright red.

"Again Miette, its not like that," I say, embarassed.

"I'm sorry I just had to," she replies grinning. I look over at Serena. She is looking down at her lap, not saying a word. Her eyes look sad. I am about to ask if she is alright when Henry interrupts.

"We have arrived," he announces, and sure enough the building outside is swarming with people in fancy dresses and suits. Miette squeals.

"This is so exciting! Lets go!" She exclaims. Henry opens up the door and we all slide out. I offer my hand to Serena as she gets out and her face brightens a bit. She takes it and we follow Miette who is leading the way.

Here we go.

Hahaha cliffhanger!! You have to wait till next chapter for the dancing. But... because I am still fangirling/fantasizing what I wish had happened in 104... I will probably get writing and have the next chapter out by tmrw or Tuesday. And btw the dance episode was awesome, (although a bit disappointing) so you should all go watch it if you haven't. Its hilarious and has some great amour moments. Don't forget to vote and comment!
