The Surprise
Serena pulled Ash along until they reached the entrance to Cafe Kalos.
"Now you've got me curious! When will I be able to see the surprise?" Ash asked, chuckling as Serena excitedly pushed him through the door. She grinned.
"Soon," she replied, walking up to the front desk. "Hi, I have a table for four reserved under Yvonne," Serena said to the man. He checked his paper, then nodded.
"Right this way Madam," He said and started leading them through the restaurant. Ash turned to Serena.
"Table for four, who's joining us?" He asked curiously. Serena gave another mischievous smile.
"It's a surprise," she replied. Ash sighed in defeat and chuckled.
"Alright Alright," He said. They continued walking down a long hallway until they reached a more reserved room.
"Your table," the man announced, sweeping his hand towards a round table off to the side. Ash looked the table and his eyes widened. Two familiar faces looked back at him.
"Clemont? Bonnie?" Ash said in astonishment.
"Surprise!!!" Serena Clemont and Bonnie yelled joyously. Ash still looked stunned, but a grin soon spread to his face.
"Surprise indeed," he laughed. "It's so good to see you guys!" Ash walked over to their table where all four of them did a group hug.
"You look so old Ash!" Bonnie remarked, smiling up at him. Ash grinned back.
"You've gotten pretty big yourself," he said, rufflling Bonnie' s hair. She giggled.
"Yup, I'm 10 years old now, a real Pokemon trainer!" She exclaimed as Dedenne hopped up her arm.
"Wow! That's great Bonnie! So Dedenne is your Pokemon now?" Ash asked. Bonnie nodded.
"Mhm, so is my other partner Shinx! He's taking a nap at our house right now," she said.
"Awesome! And what about you Clemont, what have you been up to?" Ash asked. Clemont adjusted his glasses and laughed.
"I'm glad you asked! Clemontic gear on!" He responded, activating a device hidden in the depths of his backpack. "I'm particularly excited about this one," he said. "I call it the Trainomatic Trainatron!" Bonnie sweatdropped.
"His inventions are getting better, but his names sure aren't," she mumbled.
"This device allows you to train your Pokemon without an actual opponent! It projects an opponent that uses moves without actually harming your Pokemon. Your Pokemon will still get the full experience of battling without the damage and opposing trainer!" Clemont explained.
"Wow, thats amazing!" Ash exclaimed, clearly impressed.
"Clemont already showed the scientists and they love it!" Bonnie added enthusiastically.
"Thats great Clemont, I'm really happy for you," Ash said, grinning. Then, a girl with a notepad approached.
"Hi I'm Kelsie! I will be your waitress for today. May I take your order?" She said, readying her pen. Ash looked up, excited at the prospect of food.
"Yeah, I will have the spaghetti and meatballs with garlic bread," he said, his stomach growling.
"Sure thing," Kelsie said, winking. "And how about you miss?" Serena looked up from her menu.
"I will have the chicken alfredo and a salad," she said.
"Pizza for me!" Bonnie exclaimed.
"I will have pizza as well," Clemont added. Kelsie wrote down their orders, nodding each time.
"Okay, your food will arrive shortly," she said, then walked towards the kitchen. The gang continued to chat until Kelsie returned with the food. She passed out the dishes then walked away. Everyone dug in, enjoying the delicious food. Serena looked over at Ash practically inhaling his food and rolled her eyes.
"Ash, slow down or you'll choke!" She scolded. Ash sweatdropped.
"Right, sorry," he apologized. Serena just shook her head, though a slight smile crept onto her face. After everyone finished eating, they all leaned back, happy and satisfied.
"That was yummy," Bonnie sighed in contentment. The others nodded their heads in agreement. Kelsie returned with the check. After Clemont had signed she dropped something on the table and walked away, but not before winking at Ash. Serena looked in confusion at tue guessture. Ash looked puzzeled, but then noticed a small slip of paper on the table. He opened it up reading it.
The note read: 801-935-7942 Call me ;)
Ash looked embarassed and set the note down. Serena picked it up, reading the contents. Her face flushed red in anger.
"What us that supposed to mean? Thats unprofessional! How ridiculous!" Serena huffed angrily. Ash looked over at her.
"Hey calm down, I'm not actually going to call her," Ash said, chuckling a bit at Serena's jealous behavior. Her face softened a bit and she nodded indignantly.
"Somebody's jealous..." Bonnie giggled. Serena turned bright red.
"No I'm not!" Serena protested. Bonnie shrugged and laughed. Serena merely folded her arms in embarassment. Ash laughed too.
"Come on, lets go," he said, pulling out his chair. The others nodded and exited the table as well. On the way out, Serena saw Ash stop by a trash can and toss the little paper in. She let out a small sigh of relief, but then scolded herself for overreacting and allowing herself to get so jealous. As they started down the sidewalk, Ash came to walk side by side with Serena. He didn't say anything, but slipped his hand into hers. Her cheeks tinted pink... And she smiled.
