Our Dance
The amazing song above is by by Elvis Presley- this version is by Haley Reinhart and I thought it went nicely with the chapter. I will tell you when to start it for optimal kawaiiness results. ^-^
Ash POV
The next hour seems to go by in a blur. I dance with several other girls, but I am only focused on one. The beautiful princess in the blue dress, gliding gracefully across the floor. Serena practically has a line of guys waiting dance with her.
Of course I am pretty popular myself, but the girls get bored after I won't make conversation. I'm too busy staring at her. We haven't danced since the King and Queen's dance. I have been too nervous to ask her. There is also the fact that every time I even think of going over to talk to her, another guy comes and swoops her away.
I do catch her looking at me. Once. I was in the middle of dancing with a fifteen year old girl that kept stepping on my toes when I saw her look my way. All of a sudden I could see only her. The music seems to get quieter. I almost call out to her, but the words get caught in my throat. She looks down after our eyes meet and my heart feels pained. Why wasn't I there for her all those years ago?
But I can be there for her now.
The thought enters my head quite suddenly, surprising me. The more I think about it, the more I know I need to do something. I need to tell her.
To my relief, the song comes to an end. I thank my dance partner and walk towards Serena, who has just curtseyed to her partner.
"What are you doing??" My head screams, but I ignore it. Serena takes a tired glance at the line of fanboys waiting for their turn to dance. She sighs and begins walking towards them. I reach Serena, my heart beating wildly. Not thinking, I pick her up, bridal style. She gives a yelp.
"Ash! What in the world are you doing?!" She exclaims. I begin to head towards the door outside.
"I want to dance with you," I say simply. Serena blushes and rolls her eyes.
"You could have just asked me," she says, trying to hold back a laugh.
"I don't think your fanclub would have allowed it," I gesture to group of fanboys trying to run after us.
"Good point. They were getting annoying anyways," Serena replies. I walk out the door and out to the gardens in back. I had noticed them when we were driving up to the building. As I walk quickly past bushes and flowers Serena looks up.
"You can put me down now," she laughs.
"But you can't run in heels," I point out, looking to her silver high heeled sandals.
"You would be surprised," she says back. "But I would probably trip over the dress." I nod.
"It's settled then, I will carry you until we have lost the fanclub." Serena giggles. After about a minute, I slow down and look behind me.
"They're gone. Let's find somewhere to sit." We both look around.
"There's a gazebo over there," she suggests, pointing to a white gazebo around the corner. There is a couple lights strung around it, lighting up the darkness. I walk over and set Serena down on one of the white benches inside.
(A.N. That's ^^ a gazebo, in case you were wondering)
"Thank you good sir," she laughs. I bow.
"It was my pleasure my Kalos Queen." I sit down next to her.
"So did you intend to take us far away from the dance floor and the music to dance?" Serena asks. I sweatdrop.
"Honestly, I had no idea what I was doing, I just wanted to dance with you again," Serena laughs again. I really like her laugh.
"Typical Ash, doing before thinking," she says. I sigh.
"Yeah, I need to work on that," I reply, rubbing my neck. "But aside from the fact that I kidnapped you away from the dance floor, and we have no music, may I have this dance?" I say, offering my hand to Serena. She smiles.
"It would be my honor," she says, taking my hand. This time around is a lot easier, having known the steps.
Right foot.
Left foot.
Right foot.
Left foot.
(Start the song now ^^ ;) )
Of course there is no beat to follow, but we make it up, swaying to imaginary music. I look into her sparkling cerulean eyes and feel my stomach doing flip-flops.
"You know, you dance a lot better than the fanboys," Serena remarks. I laugh nervously.
"I would hope so, that reminds me- I forgot to thank you for not stepping on my toes." Serena giggles.
"They can't help it, dancing with the handsome Kalos Champion makes them nervous," She says. I blush, looking down at Serena. She is looking down, but I think I might see a tint of pink in her cheeks as well.
"Naw, they didn't like dancing with me," I counter. Serena looks up.
"Oh really? Why would that be?" She asks, raising an eyebrow in amusement. I look into her eyes.
"Because I was to busy staring at the Kalos Queen," I say. Serena turns bright red, unsure of what to say.
"But why would you be staring at her? She's not that special," Serena replies, trailing off. I see tears in her eyes. I feel my heart break. Why would she say that?? I start talking, unable to control myself.
"Not that special?? She is the most beautiful girl you will ever see, with eyes that sparkle like diamonds and a smile that will make all the boys come running. It's not just her gorgeous looks though. She is also sweet, caring, funny, talented, and the list goes on." I give Serena a small dip and look down at her. A tear trickles down her cheek.
"She is most definitely special," I continue. "See, that's why I was staring at her; I couldn't stop thinking about her." I twirl Serena who still hasn't said a word.
"I think about her a lot, more than she knows. I think about the day I left her, the day she disappeared from the window of my plane. But of course, she left me a letter, telling me she loved me. Now, I didn't fully realize until many years later but... but......
I love her too." Serena now has tears trickling down her cheeks. She seems unable to find words. I continue.
"So I went back, I went back three years later to see her again, hoping that she would still love me after I left her. It's a lot to ask, so I was really nervous. But the more I spent time with her, the more I knew i-it had to be her." I feel me heart beat faster as I look into Serena's eyes, which are shining with tears.
"Serena, I love you. And I don't know if you can still love me after what I did, but I promise to never let you go again. I will stay with you forever if you will let me. Because, I-I can't imagine my life without you!" I exclaim, my heart bursting. Serena cups my cheek, looking into my eyes.
"Of course I love you," she says, giving me one of her brilliant smiles. I feel my heart leap with joy. I take her hand on my cheek and hold it in my own. Then, unable to contain myself... I lean in and kiss her. She seems surprised at first, but soon, wraps her arms around me, kissing back. At that moment nothing matters. Not the press, not the training, not the battling, just me and Serena.
And it's perfect.
Soon, we break the kiss, still suspended in the moment. Serena rests her forehead on mine.
"I love you," she whispers.
"I love you too," I reply. We are silent for a moment.
"Thank you," I say.
"For what?"
"For not giving up on me," I answer, looking down. Serena tilts my chin up so I am looking into her eyes.
"Would you ever give up on me?" She asks.
"Never," I immediately reply.
"See, no need to thank me then. I would never give up on you," she says. I feel my heart swell. I wrap my arms around her, embracing her.
"Stay with me forever," I whisper. She wraps her arms around me, holding me close.
"Always."
Well, I did it again. Stay up late to finish the chapter and end up making it over dramatic. XD Oh well. I really hope you guys like this chapter, I had my fair share of fangirl moments when writing it. I am trying to decide... should I do another chapter? I don't really know what I'll write about :/ Don't worry, I am for sure doing an epilogue though. Please vote and comment what you thought. Also let me know if I should do another chapter aside from the epilogue, if so, what should it be about?
Thanks for reading, bai! ;)
