Chapter Twenty Six - Just the Beginning
Six months later, Emerys paced the kitchen with anticipation, eagerly awaiting Killian's return from work.
'Is he there yet?' A text from Ruby read.
'No, he must be holding detention or something and forgotten to tell me...' Emerys replied.
'Dammit Jones... He always bugged us to be on time for class. What about him getting home on time?' She could hear Ruby's frustrated sigh coming through the letters on her phone's screen, shortly followed by keys scratching against the front door.
'He's here!!!!!!' Emerys rapidly texted back.
'Good luck, girl. Love you!' Ruby replied just as Emerys put her phone down on the counter.
Emerys picked up the glass of rum she'd ready-made and scuttled over to meet him.
"Hello, love." Killian smiled, closing the door behind him.
"Hey." She beamed back at him as she took his laptop bag from him and handed him the glass.
"You read my mind." Killian sighed happily, placing his free hand on Emerys' back to lead her to the couch with him. "So how has the day treated the light of my life?"
"Wonderfully. I finished work after the lunch rush, then Ruby and I went to go do some stuff and that is why you've caught me all flustered, yet ready and waiting with rum for you." Emerys smirked playfully as she straddled Killian's lap.
"Aye? What stuff was that?" He raised one of his perfect eyebrows, instantly turning Emerys' brain to mush.
"It can wait for two more seconds." She mumbled, crashing her lips to his.
Killian placed his glass down on the end table next to the couch so that both hands were free to caress her hips and ass.
"Mmm." Killian smiled. "If you and Ruby getting up to 'stuff' leads to you behaving like this, I should hope 'stuff' happens more often, love."
"I'm pregnant." Emerys breathed against his mouth.
Killian instantly pulled away, holding her by the shoulders.
"Sorry? Could you do me a favour and repeat what you just said?" He chuckled in disbelief.
"I'm pregnant, Killian." Emerys smiled.
There was silence in the room for what felt like forever to the girl. She simply sat in his lap with her arms round his neck, observing his perfect face until something happened.
"Killian?" She pressed.
"Are you going to keep it?" Was all he came out with.
All of a sudden, Emerys went from feeling entirely fantastic to borderline disgusting.
She clambered off him and began to pace.
"You've just found out that you're going to be a dad and that's the first thing you say to me?" Emerys scoffed.
Instantly, Killian felt bad.
"No love, that's not what I meant..." He sighed. "What I meant by that is, you're only eighteen. Are you sure you're ready for this?"
Killian rose to his feet and took her hands in this.
"I... Didn't really think about it..." Emerys replied quietly. "I was too excited about telling you."
The man led her back over to the couch, sitting them both down.
"I want us both to be thinking logically before I reveal how I'm feeling about this." He said. "You have work, I have work, we have a house, yes. But are you mentally and physically ready to take on the responsibility for pregnancy, let alone two decades of child care?"
Emerys looked away from him to think about it seriously.
For as long as she could remember, she had wanted to have a family of her own and be a mother. She knew for a fact that she wanted nothing more than to do that with Killian.
She turned back to him.
"I love you, Killian and I love what we have – both in our hearts and materialistically. Which are automatically two checks off my childhood bucket list, just so you know? I love the house you invited me to live in and I want to raise a family with you in it. Or a bigger place should we need it. I haven't felt this ready to take a leap since we spoke about discreetly seeing each other even though we were teacher and student. I love you and so long as the next words out of your mouth are anything like the ideal ones running through my head right now, I love this baby and I would do anything for either of you." She told him.
A smile couldn't help but prick at the corners of Killian's lips.
"That's the right answer, love." He said. "I'm going to be a dad."
"Yes you are." Emerys' grin stretched from ear to ear so badly that she feared she might've looked like a cartoon character.
They both leaned in, crashing their lips together in the most magical and powerful kiss they'd ever shared, their hands in each other's hair to pull each other closer, if that were possible.
"I love you so much, kitten." Killian panted.
"Aye, Captain." Emerys giggled. "I love you too."
"Just breathe, breathe through it, love." Killian instructed. "You've got this."
Nine months later, Emerys found herself screaming in the birthing room.
"Just one more push and you're done." The doctor told her.
"I can't, I can't push anymore." She cried out.
The thoughts in her head terrified her.
'What if I really can't push one more time and something happens to the baby?' 'What if I can do this, but it's too much on me and I have to leave Killian to raise our child all on his own?'
"Love." Killian attempted to grab her attention. "Emerys." The girl finally looked at him. "I believe in you, alright? You can do this. If you can pass the third pop quiz I ever set you, you can do bloody anything because I wrote that whilst I was in a bad mood, remember?"
Emerys laughed through the pain, recalling the day.
"Half the questions were college level shit." She panted. "Okay... I'm ready."
"Yes you are. Remember that quiz and how much of an asshole I was. Channel that energy and push, love. You can do this." Killian smiled, kissing the hand that was gripping his to almost breaking point.
"Would you like to hold your daughter?" The nurse asked after they had her all cleaned up.
"Yes please." Emerys said, wiping the tears from her face before outstretching her arms.
"She's as beautiful as her mother." Killian mumbled against her hair, placing a soft kiss where his warm breath touched.
"Have you decided on a name?" One of the other nurses, who was holding a rough copy birth certificate, asked.
"We have." Killian nodded, not taking his eye line from his newborn daughter. "Rosalind. Rosalind Alice Jones."
"Welcome to the world, Rosie." Emerys sniffed back tears of happiness. "I'm your mommy."
"Out of the way, please! I need to see my grandchild!"
Emerys and Killian chuckled as they heard Jocelyn bounding down the corridor towards their room, Killian now cradling Rosie.
As soon as she and James appeared in the doorway to the room, everything in Emerys' eyes seemed to just begin to piece together.
It became perfect when, by coming into the room, Jocelyn and James revealed Liam, Ruby, Regina and Zelena.
"Hello brother, how's fatherhood?" Liam smirked, marching up to Killian to give him a side hug.
"It's been an easy forty-five minutes so far, mate." Killian chuckled.
"Oh, congratulations, the pair of you." Jocelyn grinned, gently putting one arm round Emerys and the other around Killian's shoulders.
"Thank you, mom." Emerys smiled.
"Would you like to hold her?" Killian asked.
"Is that even a question? Of course I do!" Jocelyn squealed, already holding her arms out for her grandchild. "So what made you pick Rosalind Alice? You can finally tell me now after all this damn secrecy."
"Rosalind from Shakespeare's play As You Like It. You know I've always loved Shakespeare and so does Killian. Alice after Killian and Liam's mother."
"Oh that's lovely, you two. Aw I'm so happy for you both. She's stunning." Jocelyn smiled down at the tiny five pound, four ounce baby in her arms.
After everyone had greeted the baby, wished Killian and Emerys well and left, it was just the three of them and Liam left in the room.
"I couldn't be more pleased for you both." Liam smiled, leaning on the end of the hospital bed. "And I like the mum touch."
"I thought it'd be a nice way to honour her." Emerys told him. "I never got the chance to meet her, but I can only hope that Rosie grows up to be half the woman you two make your mom out to be."
"Our mother was a saint. I'm sure Rosalind will be our tiny angel, love." Killian smiled, kissing his love's forehead.
"Oh this was your idea, little mouse?" Liam raised an eyebrow. "Well thank you. She would've loved this moment."
"She would've loved the many more moments yet to come." Emerys smiled down at the little black haired treasure in her arms.
The teacher's daughter, the student's miracle.
~~~~A Never Event~~~~
A/N: THE END!!! Of course I've left this wide open for a sequel, and its getting one if I can think up enough ideas to make up a whole ass book.
But I hope you liked A Never Event, its been a crazy journey, especially since the last Teacher/Student book I wrote was finished four whole years ago!!! I can't believe it's been that long and I didn't realise how much I missed writing this style haha.
I love you all,
