The fireworks exploded in the sky, trying to be temporary stars, lighting up the night sky announcing the end of the year and start of a new one. Happiness was spread like a contagious disease everywhere, smiles on the face of the people as they cheered the beginning of a new year.

The balcony showed me the colors lit up in the sky. I returned back to the living room, sitting down with my family as they were engrossed in their own phones and conversation. I didn't feel any different, it felt the same to me.

The chatter and the noise of the lively house fell deaf on my numb ears. I still was stuck in the past somewhere, I couldn't escape from it. The tears and the smiles and the laughs I shared, the memories felt as if I moved on would disappear. I wasn't ready yet, I was suffocating.

I quickly and silently left the house, walking somewhere unknown to me, I ran into the forest, pushing aside the bushes and jumping over the logs. Trying to find something, someone. I felt tears running down my cheeks, flowing freely.

I tripped over a tree root, I stayed there and didn't try to get up. I felt the burning sensation of the pain. I sat up, trying to check my injury and saw my knee bleeding. I saw a shadow hovering over me and I didn't look up but the person sat down.

She was crying, I couldn't do anything. I looked around to realize the familiarity of the place hit me, as the lake reflected the moon. I just clutched onto my bleeding knee crying together with her. She wiped her tears and pulled me towards her into a hug. I fell limp in her arms as I cried freely.

We huddled up closer together as we saw the limitless fireworks together. I never want her to leave me again. I finally felt myself moving on. I took her face in my hands and she didn't fight back so I leaned in. The lights making her face seem golden and her eyes with smudged tears looked beautiful.
