Louise Gregory
A light shower of rain had begun to fall out in the labyrinth of London streets and not a soul stirred in the night. Somewhere out there was my beautiful step-daughter, her fiancé and their companion Mr. Hare; I knew not where they had gone but I had full faith in both her and her male companions to return home by the end of the night. Her secret that Mary Jane Kelly had entrusted me with nagged at the back of mind as I sang to my baby in her crib. Louise if I tell you this then you must not tell father - not yet. I will when the time is right. I am going to Scotland with William and Mr Hare where we are to run a small inn left by Mr Hare's father; it sounds like a darling little place Louise and you should all visit come Christmas time. I'll tell father soon I promise but I'm trusting you with this Louise - please keep this as our little secret. I was so proud of her for taking control of her life but I was worried for her much like her mother would have once been.
A sharp wind blew the double French Windows blow open in the nursery and woke my darling Cassidy; I jumped back and turned to find a silhouette laughing manically in the door way. Above her head a knife was raised; in fear I did what any mother would have done for her child. A moment of bravery was all it took for me to step boldly in front of my baby's crib and stand up to the imposter. A second gust of wind pushed away a cluster of clouds blocking the moons light and before it could bring in a second set to cast the city in darkness the eerie light revealed my attacker to me in a matter of seconds. Mary Pearcey- my closest friend. Lunging forward, Mary came closer wielding her knife ready for the final blow that would put my blood on her hands. In one final moment of bravery before she took my life I mustered my courage to give her one last warning - but it was too late...
"Step away from my daughter!"
