Without thinking anything she runs out of the room, upon hearing the sound of the door, rd opens his eyes

Rd-was someone here??

He stands from the couch and goes to the door, upon looking outside he vaguely sees sanyu turning the corner

Rd-sanyukta was here(checking his watch)at this time

He looks at parth who was sound asleep, he informs a nurse and then goes behind sanyu, he walks in the direction where he saw her and finds her standing in front of the elevator about to get on

Rd-sanyukta

She turns to see rd whose hair were disheveled may be because of the nap he was in a few mins back

Sanyu(in mind)-was he awake, is he coming to ask me about it? Should I run? No no, what if he don't know

While she was thinking though all the possibilities, rd reaches her

Rd-when did you come sanyukta

Sanyu-ahh, a few mins back, vids asked me if I could just check upon him once, I had no idea that you were here

Rd-ahh right, I thought it would be better if someone stays back, in case he needs something

Sanyu-hmmm

They get on the lift

Sanyu-you are leaving too?

Rd-no no, its just that, since I've seen you, I must as well see you leave, btw how are you going, I hope its not by bus

Sanyu turns her head away from rd and tries to muffle her smile at his concern

Rd-what happened? Why are you smiling

Rd-hey, cmon I can clearly see that you are smiling, tell me the reason, in any case, are you making fun of me(raises his one eyebrow with a serious expression)

Sanyu-ohhh no no no sir, its just that, from the time we have met, there had never been a conversation in which you wont ask me how am I leaving.

Elevator bell dings and she walks out while rd stands there smiling at her, then she turns and looks at him as if asking if he was coming or not and he walks out.

Rd(reaching upto her and they start walking again)-well thank you sanyukta for finding my concern for you cute

Rd-hey whats with all the smiles today

Sanyu-I don't know, I feel like smiling today, let me tell you, that's really rare for me

Rd-make it a habit then, it suits you better than that grim reaper look

Sanyu stops and turns around to look at him with an amused expression

Sanyu(still with an amused expression)-what!!

Rd-you know grim reaper

Sanyu-yeaah sure (smiles again)

She goes and sits on a bench outside the hospital and rd sits next to her

Rd-amm btw sanyukta, where is parth's parents, I tried finding their number from his phone but didn't find any

Sanyu(sighs)-well before I tell you that, lemme tell you something else, we are a bunch of messed up students and that's the reason we connect this much

Rd looks at her confused

Sanyu-his father died in a car accident and so he and his mother went to live with his uncle, and he was not a big fan of parth and he ended up running away from home, he is on a scholarship

Rd-then what about hostel fee and all

Sanyu-even we ask him about it, but he never tells us anything about it

Rd-hmmm

Rd-yes

Sanyu-why are you doing all this for us

On hearing her question he turns to look at her only to find sanyu looking at him intently

Rd(clears his throat)-i.....i don't know why but the one this I know is I want to keep you..........all safe, I feel obliged to do that,(in a muffled tone)may be because of you

Sanyu-sir

Rd-yes

Sanyu-what did you say, I didn't hear that

Rd-I said nothing sanyukta

Sanyu-ohh

A cold wind blows and she shivers and curls her arms around her body and takes in a deep breath

While she was doing that she felt something thick and warm around her, she turns to see that the coat which rd was wearing a few mins back was now covering her and rd after doing a final adjustment looks at her

Rd-better now

She looks at him who was now in his white shirt, black pant and a black waist coat, and the waist coat which was hugging his abs were defining it more clearly, that look of his was enough for any girl to go weak on her knees

Sanyu(in mind)-eewww sanyukta, when did you start thinking things like those, he is your professor, gather your gutter mind and walk off

Rd-sanyukta...sanyukta

Sanyu(coming back to reality)-yes sir

Rd(smiling)-you seem different today

Sanyu(smiling)-I know, but I really don't know why

Rd-so tell me, how are you leaving?

Sanyu-don't worry, I am not using any public transport

Rd-now that's a relief, but I hope you are not planning to walk all the way to your house

Sanyu-nooooh, actually dev will come to pick me up,that's why I am waiting

Rd(suddenly his smile was gone)-ohhhhh right

Rd sits there awkwardly

Rd-amm sanyukta, I haven't heard from samar for quite some time

Sanyu(as if remembering something)-oh my god, I had to take him to the hospital, yesterday I reached late but then all this happened

Rd-hospital?? For what, is he ok?

Sanyu-he fell while crossing the road and his knee is swollen and it was all blue, yesterday I left him some money but he didn't get out of bed either, I thought that I'll take him to the hospital, but then all this happened

Rd-did you put ice on it

Sanyu- steamed it with a hot towel

Rd-that blue mark is probably blood clot...I think...............

But before he could say something they hear a bike horn

Sanyu-ohh that's dev, thank you sir

Rd(smiles)-your welcome sanyukta, tell samar to call me

Sanyu-yes sir

Dev stops his bike infront of them and sanyu hops onto his bike, rd's coat was dangling on her shoulder which she hold onto even more tightly with one hand and holds onto the bike with another

Dev-bye sir

Rd-bye guys..take care, be safe....

They leave from there and once they were out of sight rd breathes a sigh

Rd-thank you sanyukta

He walks into the hospital

Dev stops in front of sanyu's house

Sanyu(still wearing rd's jacket)-thank you dev

Dev-hey is that rd sir's jacket

Sanyu(looking at the jacket)-ahh yes, I was feeling cold when I was waiting for you

Dev-hmmm, what do you think about

Sanyu(confused at his sudden question)-what do you mean by what I think

Dev-as clear as it sounds....what do you think about him

Sanyu-I don't, he is nice, he cares for everyone and he loves everyone

Dev-do you?

Sanyu-what? What do i?

Next day

Sanyu was coming out of her room, tieing her hair into a bun when the door bell rings

She takes a utensil for the milk as she thought it was the milk man

She opens the door and forwards the utensil to the person on the other side of the door, the person clears his throat and when she looks at him her eyes go wide and she stand there rooted to the spot, yep it was rd.

Rd-ammm, good morning sanyukta

Sanyu-huh?? Haan good morning sir..bu...but what are you doing here

Rd-ohh samar didn't tell you, I had told him yesterday that I'll take him to the hospital today

Sanyu-he didn't tell me anything

Suddenly she gets conscious about what she was wearing it was a black and white night suit which hand panda face printed on it.

Rd-amm... sanyukta

Sanyu-ohhh sorry pls come in sir

He walks in

Sanyu-I'll call samar

She goes and bangs at the door for samar to open but the only thing that came from inside was "di, just go away"

She looks at rd embarrassed and was about to knock again when rd calls out

Rd-hey champ its me, you forgot, we have to go to the doctor

As soon as he completes his sentence the door was flung open and samar was standing in front of them in his pjs, still his eyes half closed

Samar-di....why didn't you tell me that rd sir is here

Sanyu-really? Really samar?

Samar-yeahhhhh

Sanyu-I cant believe this

She leaves from there frustrated and rd looks at her panda hoodie from which the ears of the panda were tucking out which made him smile, samar hugs rd

Samar-good morning sir

Rd(smiles and ruffles his hair)-good morning champ, now go and get ready

Samar-okie

He goes inside and rd walks to where sanyu went-kitchen

He sees her chopping some vegetables and muttering under her breath

Sanyu(mocking samar)-dii why didn't you tell me that rd sir is here(normal voice)-arrey cant he just wake up on my call (moves to the stove)oh rd sir's black coffee

She pours the coffee into a mug and turns only to see rd sitting on the stool near the kitchen counter

Sanyu-oh sir

Rd-coffee?

Sanyu-ahh yes

She gives him the mug

Rd-thank you sanyukta

While he was sipping his coffee, he watches sanyu efficiently doing her chores, then suddenly the door bell rings

Sanyu-now that might be the milkman

Rd-the one you thought was me

Sanyu just smiles and walks to the living room to open the main door holding the same utensil

After 5 mins rd hears the sound of the utensil falling and he rushes to the door to see sanyu on the floor, he runs to her

Rd-sanyukta....what happened

He makes her stand up and then he hears him say

Rajeev-oh look the great current husband is here

Rd-how dare you touch her

He was boiling to see that ugly face of Rajeev and here sanyukta was crying, a single look of Rajeev was enough to make her tremble in fear, rd hugs her and wraps his one arm around her waist and sanyu in that instant hugs him tighter.

Rd-how dare you show that ugly filthy face of yours

Rajeev-oh don't worry I am not here for her, at least not today, I just wanted to show you that you can't hide her from me and you cant even save her from me

Samar comes limping to them

Samar-di, what happened

Rajeev(smiling)-oh looks like my boys did a really good job

Samar comes and stands on the other side of rd

Samar-It was your car, you bloody

Samar was about attack him but rd stops him still holding sanyukta with one hand

Rd-samar no

And he stops at once

Rajeev-awww.....such a nice family....

Rd-just get out before I repeat what I did the last time we met

Rajeev-ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh....ok ok

He forwards his hands to touch samar but rd holds onto his hand

Rd-keep your filthy hands off him

Rajeev(raising his hands in surrender)-my bad, but let me tell you something, he wont be with you guys for too long, lets see what you can do to keep him

He gives them an evil side smirk and walks away

As soon as he goes from there rd calls out to sanyukta who was hiding her face in his shoulder

Rd-sanyukta

But she didn't answer

Rd-sanyukta(he shakes her a bit in his arms and her head dangles away from his shoulder, she was unconscious

Rd-sanyukta

Samar-di

Rd-samar, close the door and bring me some water

he lies sanyu down and sprinkles some water on her face which makes her open her eyes and as soon as she sees samar, she hugs him and starts crying

samar-shh...di, its ok, nothing happened

sanyu-he tried to kill you

she was crying like hell

samar-di, nothing will happen di, pls don't cry...you'll make me cry too

but her tears weren't stopping and samar starts crying too and not being able to take all of that rd just wraps his both arms around the two crying figures and hugs them as if creating a protective shell around them

rd-I swear to god that nothing will happen to both of you, this will be the last time he reaches this near to you...I promise you both that.

Both of them wrap their one arm each around his waist as if accepting him into their lives.
