Shattered

I blinked. My own reflection was there. No free-spirit. No tears. Just myself.

"I look like trash."

I mumbled, barely above a whisper. My younger self knew. My eyes were so hollow. My smiles had gone. My skin had paled. And I was nothing compared to the old me.

My hand once again pressed to the mirror. This time, my same-sized hand pressed to it, perfectly symmetrical. My eyes stared into themselves, and my skin was so pale in the lighting of the room.

It then hit me where I was. How long had I been in the bathroom of an arcade, staring myself in the mirror? How many people could've walked past, and stared at me as if I were crazy? What was wrong with me?

My pressure on the mirror became stronger, and eventually, cracks formed in the mirror, sprouting from where my hand had been before I pulled it away.

A knock.

"Hey, Kat's kicking butt at this game, she wants you to see. Hurry up!"

A male voice. I turned to the door, and glanced over at my reflection.

Shattered.

I took a deep breath, and exhaled. When I opened the door, a familiar boy stood before me.

"Oh! Hey! You're here! C'mon!"

I stared at his brown hair before fluffing it, almost smiling.

"Yeah, let's go, nerd."

He deadpanned, grabbing my wrist just after hesitating, and pulling me off.

"Midnight. No."

My reality had been shattered in an arcade bathroom, and now here I am. Getting pulled along by the guy I love. He would never love me back though. Because I'm still exactly what I saw in the mirror, and nobody would love that.

...So why are they still here..?
