--- 🐾 Adrien 🐾 ---
Adrien rolled over in bed and tried to slam his hand on his blaring alarm clock. However, for some strange reason he couldn't reach it. So, he dragged himself out of under the covers only to find his bed seemed a LOT bigger than he remembered. Adrien scratched his head in curiosity with his, paw?!?!
Adrien must've been dreaming. After all, as far as he knew, last night when he fell asleep he was NOT a cat. He shook his head and ignoring his still blaring alarm, pulled himself back under the covers and fell back asleep.
He woke up not 10 minutes later to not only the alarm clock going off, but someone practically pounding down his door.
"Adrien!! Adrien!! Shut off that noise!! Are you trying to rouse the entire neighborhood?"
"Sorry Nathalie." Adrien muttered, stretching before padding over to his clock and reaching his paw out to hit the button.
Adrien glared at Plagg. "Was this your doing?"
Plagg shrugged "I don't believe I had anything to do with it." Adrien rolled his eyes as his kwamii continued, "But I'm sure it'll be entertaining!!"
Adrien let out an irritated huff, but all in all decided to just make do.
He stood on the edge of the bed looking down. The bed definitely seemed a lot bigger now that Adrien himself had shrunk.
"C'mon kid just jump."
"Says the one who can fly" Adrien shot back to his snickering kwamii.
Eventually Adrien jumped down, not quite gracefully, and made his way into the bathroom.
Quickly realizing his usual morning routine wasn't at all necessary, he walked back out and sat next to his large wall of windows. It was then, looking out and observing what he could see of the city over the large property wall, that he realized that school was absolutely out of the question.
First of all, if Plagg could understand him, did that mean everyone could understand him? He had spoken to Nathalie, but did she hear him, or just leave after his alarm stopped? Either way, a talking cat at school, or anywhere else for that matter, would raise questions. And besides that, what need did a cat have to be at school?
And lastly if Adrien came to school as a talking cat, people would most definitely suspect him as Chat Noir, and then his lady would never forgive him for revealing his identity to the entire school.
"Plagg?" Adrien turned to spot Plagg hanging upside down in the air next to him, smirking.
"Yes your meow-jesty?" Plagg snickered.
Adrien ignored the pun and got straight to the point. "Do you think you can understand me just because you are my kwamii and also a cat?"
"Not sure kid. Hard to say."
Adrien's little kitten head nodded, contemplating. "Worth a shot I guess," he mumbled to himself.
He padded over to his desk chair and looked up at it. He glanced up at Plagg, who was already on the desk, and then leapt up towards the seat of the chair.
He missed.
He tried again. And again. And again. But to no avail.
The disheartened kitty looked up at his kwamii miserably. The kwamii hid his smile and grabbed Adrien by the scruff of the neck, the poor kitten going limp until placed on the desk. Adrien then scurried over to the phone and pressed the paging button and spoke into the speaker as clear as he could.
"Nathalie? I'm not feeling well today..... I don't think I feel well enough to go to school."
"Adrien? I'm having a hard time understanding what you're saying. Repeat that please."
He sighed and tried again trying harder to enunciate.
"I don't feel very well today."
"Understood. I'll call the school immediately. Would you like me to send up your breakfast?"
"Uhh, yes please. Thank you Nathalie."
He let go of the paging button and sighed. But he jumped when he heard a knock on the door, and the handle beginning to turn. Jumping quickly off the desk, not caring about the height anymore, he scampered into the bathroom, Plagg following closely behind and closing the door.
They could hear footsteps walking around Adrien's bedroom. They heard the person walk up to the bathroom door and knock.
"Adrien, your breakfast is on your coffee table. Let Nathalie know if you need anything else"
"Thanks Alain."
"Wow! Adrien, you really don't sound like yourself today. What happened?"
Adrien laughed to himself sarcastically, and thought, 'that's because I'm not myself right now.' before he replied, "I don't know.... I woke up and felt completely off balance." It was the truth after all, just not all of it.
"I'm sorry to hear that! I hope you feel better soon!"
Adrien heard Alain's footsteps receding. Alain was the son of Adrien's personal chef. Alain was usually the one who brought up his meals. Throughout the time Alain had started helping his dad in the kitchen, he and Adrien had become friends. Or as close to friends as they were allowed to be. Alain was the only member of the staff who was somewhat approachable, and Adrien appreciated the warmth of a friendly face in the vast empty house he spent most of his time in.
So as Alain closed the door, Adrien smiled softly, "Thanks. Me too Alain."
