《 stupid, blinded-by-love, superheros 》
A/N: I know this chapter isn't the best and I am extremely sorry for being so absent on updating this book. In fact, I've been absent of updating everything :S. I got a lot of catch up to do. I'm afraid that I would be able to upload another chapter tonight, however I hope you enjoy this one! It's more of a filler chapter but good things are to come! :) Thank you so much for reading! :D
Marinette was stumped.
She was classed as dead to the entirety of Paris; it's incomprehensible. "Surely someone would have connected our disappearances as civilians to our alter egos who missing. We might already be found out." Adrien stated absentmindedly, strolling next to his girlfriend, hands stuffed into the front pockets of his blue jeans. He was staring up at the floating vehicles.
Marinette's eyebrows drew together and before she could voice her opinion about how there would be an article on the hologram about the identity of Paris's infamous superheros, Alya spoke up, voicing a question, "What year is it?"
The four teenagers stopped walking aimlessly and came to a complete stop. Four pairs of widened eyes searched the darkening horizon, the tall made-of-glass buildings for the any signs of billboards with the date painted across it.
A few seconds later, they all huffed out a sigh, looking at their feet, shuffling forward aimlessly again. Her expectations of a massive digital clock displayed so clearly into the almost-night struck an idea within her rather smart brain. Quickly, she whipped out her phone from the back pocket of her jeans and pushed the on/off button located on the top of her phone. "2040!" she screamed out.
"What?" Nino asked tentatively, this being the first word he spoke in a good hour.
"The year is 2040."
"What? How do you know?" Marinette questioned turning back to her best-friend who had the tightest grip on her phone. It was definitely going to break.
Alya began to explain her prior suspicions, "My phone is synced up to the world clock... it must've reconnected to the time and date of now-the future."
Adrien quickly did the math in his head, "We'd be thirty-nine years old!"
Nino's eyes widened, "Dude. No! I don't wanna be an old grump whose soul dedication is focused on profit and organising merchandise for 'special' events."
Alya glanced at her boyfriend, a pitiful expression evident on her tan face. She always knew that Nino's father was very absent from his son's life. Heck, she hasn't even met Nino's father yet.
Marinette's eyes ran from Nino to Alya, going back and forward like a pinball in a pinball machine. "The only way to fix this situation is to find The Inventor," she said, breaking the silence, "and considering how he handed himself into the police, it would only make sense if he gives way to the de-Akumatisation."
"We just need to find him." Adrien smiled, as the four teenagers looked at each other, wide grins of hope on their faces.
"Where do we look?" Nino asked.
Marinette and Adrien shared a knowing glance, before gripping each other's hands and running of into the night, leaving Alya and Nino in the middle of the street. "Wait!" Alya screamed out into the empty street, "Where are you going?!"
After a moment she grunted before grabbing Nino's forearm and pulling him along, running to catch up with the other couple.
"Stupid, blinded-by-love, superheros." Alya muttered under her breath
"What?" Nino called out, haphazardly running behind his girlfriend. Alya didn't even reply, she just laughed at the sight of Nino trying to run.
