"If this is the future..." Marinette started,

"Does that mean we have been "missing" for years?" Alya finished.

Marinette looked at the information displayed underneath the photograph of her and Adrien in their superhero identities.

"Five years ago, Paris's two superheros, Ladybug and Cat Noir were killed in a freak fight against akumatised victim Sedrik Fugar, who is now named "The Inventor".

Though nobody witnessed the fight, evidence has lead to the conclusion that Ladybug is dead. Cat Noir has not been found and is assumed dead by most Parisian's no matter the Police's assurances that he is a "missing person"."

"DEAD?!" Marinette exclaimed.

"What kind of evidence could lead to the conclusion that you're dead when you weren't even there?" Alya wondered.

"Missing person?" Adrien wondered.

"Does that mean we are missing persons, too?" Alya asked, directing the question towards Nino.

"Maybe,"

Marinette's mind ticked over on the possibilities on her "murder". "What if the evidence revealed my identity?" She asked, facing her three best friends.

"Read." Alya urged, pushing the bluenette to read the rest of the information on the site.

"The Inventor" has sincerely apologised to Parisian's for the demolision of their favourite heroes who saved many of Paris's lives. The akumatised villain handed in the evidence of Ladybug's murder to the police, subtly handing himself in, in the process. The jury has found the villian not guilty due to his unableness to control his actions being akumatised. However without Ladybug to purify the akuma, former inventor, Sedrik Fugar, is trapped inside of the akuma's hold."

"That's it," Marinette said glumly, wishing the hologram would allow her more information. But there was no more.

"Where is The Inventor, now?" Adrien asked.

"Would he be the cause of all of this?" Nino asked, gesturing to the high-tech surroundings.

"It's the only explanation." Marinette decided.
