Chapter 56

Jean's Point of View

Jean was sitting at her desk once again. Wow, she did that a lot. Maybe she needed a vacation...

Suddenly, her Minetablet beeped. The spy was calling.

"Hello, Alex. What info do you have for me today?" Jean asked.

"They're making a promo for the Resistance," Alex replied.

"Has it been aired yet?" Jean asked.

"No, ma'am," came the reply.

"Okay. I shall inform Notch about this," Jean said.

"I will tell you when it's up," Alex said.

"Okay. But don't call me again. It's too dangerous," Jean ordered.

"Yes ma'am," Alex replied.

"Keep up the good work, Alex. And don't call again. The Resistance may hear you. And then we will lose," Jean said.

"The Resistance will fall," Alex said. "Oh, and tell Notch I say hi." She signed off.

No, Jean thought childishly.

Jean checked on the status of the citizens of the Sectors. They were all under Mojang's control at the moment, believing every word about 'keeping the world safe by controlling monsters'.

Idiots.

Eventually, they will learn of Mojang's treachery, whether by the Resistance's promo or by something else. But by then, Mojang would be way too powerful. All the Sectors would fear Mojang.

And Notch could rule the world.

Of course, if he didn't have those de-aging potions, he would be too old, and Jean could rule the world.

But ya know, it's whatever.

The cities were also on iron shortages because of whatever Herobrine was doing. Jean had been sending in stacks upon stacks of iron to each city.

Jean's Minetablet buzzed again. It was a message from the monster controlling department.

"The Endermen are ready. And so are the Nether units."

Wow. All the units were ready already. The Endermen were the last ones from the over world units, and all the Nether units were done now too.

Jean had to go tell Notch.

A quick check of the security cameras (it's not weird) told Jean that Notch was up on the roof, working on completing his End portal, even though it was night time. Jean forgot, the Ender Dragon had to be controlled too. Ugh.

The End portal was almost complete now. Notch only needed two more pieces, and it would be done.

So instead, Jean messaged Notch about the units. He answered after a few minutes.

"Send the Endermen after Steve's group. Send all the Nether units after Jay's group, since they are going through the Nether."

"All of the Nether units, sir?" Jean asked in a message.

"Yes." Came the reply. Then another message came in from Notch.

":)"

Jean rolled her eyes and made the commands.

Ruby's Point of View

"I was just...nothing," Ruby said, lamely attempting to put the phone behind her back.

Alex stepped inside and closed the door. "Oh, drop the act, Ruby. I know you know what I am now."

"Yeah, a spy!" Ruby said. Alex took a step closer.

"Come any closer, and I break it," Ruby warned, holding the phone high in the air.

Alex didn't move. "I can get another one," she said. Ruby could tell she was lying.

"You are not warning Mojang what we are doing ever again," Ruby said through gritted teeth. Then, she smashed the phone on the ground.

It didn't break.

Alex smirked. "It's indestructible," she laughed.

Her laugh was cut short when Ruby drove her sword through the phone, breaking it.

Alex's mouth hung open. Then, with a roar, she charged at Ruby, sword raised.

And they had a sword fight in their bedroom.

Alex swung, Ruby blocked; Ruby swung, Alex blocked. The fight went pretty much like this for at least two minutes. Neither of them were landing hits on each other.

Suddenly, the door burst open.

Louis stood there.

Ruby and Alex dropped their swords. Louis' mouth was agape.

"Um...good sword fighting practice, Alex," Ruby said after a moment.

"You too, Ruby," Alex replied, holding her hand out. They shook hands. Both girls tried crushing the other girl's hand. They both smiled through their pain.

"Ruby! Lourd wants to see you!" Louis said, seeming satisfied with the girls' lie.

"Okay, Louis," Ruby fake smiled at Alex and walked out the door.

As she walked to the control room, she tried to think of ways she could expose Alex to the Resistance. She couldn't think of any ways she could make people believe her.

The only evidence was the phone, and Ruby had just broken that. And Alex was probably cleaning it up right now.

Ruby walked into the control room. Lourd and Manga were there, the computer up.

"Hey, Ruby," Manga greeted. "The promo's done."

"Already?" Ruby asked.

Manga smiled. "We're fast. Anyway, I thought I'd show it to you before I aired it."

Lourd clicked a button on the computer, and the promo started.

It stated with footage of Mojang attacking Creektown. It showed all the destruction, and made sure the audience could tell the helmets said Mojang. Then it cut to Ruby's speech. It showed a few sentences at a time, and in between them it showed what Creektown looked like now--a heap of rubble. It finished strong with Ruby saying, "Join the Resistance today!"

The screen went black. Manga and Lourd looked expectantly at Ruby.

"It looks great," she said.

"Good. Because we're gonna air it now," Manga said, typing something in to the computer.

"Wait!" Ruby said. "Would there be any way that Mojang could stop you from airing this?"

"Not unless they know about it ahead of time," Manga chuckled, still typing away.

Ruby bit her lip. Would they believe that Alex was a spy? Alex had been so helpful around here, everyone loved her.

Except Ruby, of course.

She sighed. "Alright. Air it."

Manga clicked one final button on his computer. "Just did," he said.

"Do you think Steve will see it?" Ruby asked.

"I don't know," Lourd piped up. "If he's near a TV, he should. But he should be on his way back from the power plant now."

Ruby bit her lip again. She knew what had happened to Steve, but she couldn't say anything. Then a thought hit her.

"Wait a minute," Ruby said. "If Mojang attacked us with monsters, then that means that Steve and the others failed to destroy the power plant, right?"

Lourd and Manga were silent for a moment. Then Lourd said, "Maybe, or maybe Mojang has other ways of getting electricity."

"Yeah...okay," Ruby said. "Bye." She walked out the door.

She sat down in a corner of the common room, head in her hands. When she looked up, she caught Alex's eye.

They glared at each other for a few seconds, then looked away.
