// Chapter three //
Serabi walked down the hall of her high school, shielding her face with her hood. On some days, people stared and they were either pity stares or unfriendly stares. On other days, no one seemed to notice her and she just faded into the crowded world.
She was labeled as a misfit after the accident and she became withdrawn from the world. She was constantly being called names; alien, wiredo, geek, misfit and outcast. Like everything else, she ignored it but it wasn't that easy when she was constantly pushed around by Jemma.
Jemma was one of those fortunate people in the world. Born with a silver spoon in her mouth and everything came easily to her ; the hottest guys, the good grades, the popularity and the swarm of minions that crowded her everyday. Jemma was one of the people who had made it their personal mission to make the lives of those who she didn't associate with miserable and for some reason that Serabi knew nothing of, she was at the top of the list.
Serabi never had much friends to begin with. Only associated herself with a circle of three at most and her excellent grades but then she became distant, lost all her friends but kept up her excellent grades. She always did her assignments on time and submitted when due.
At lunch, Serabi would see the gang of other misfits at the separate table but she never joined, instead she skipped lunch and entered into one of her million cities.
"What's wrong, Serabi?" Jemma walked beside her now faking a pout. "You don't look good." She paused before continuing with her sentence. "Then again, you never look good, misfit." Her swarm of minions were the first to laugh before Jemma herself laughed at her terrible joke. At least this was better than most days when she would set her foot out to trip Serabi and say, "oops! Watch your steps, misfit." When Serabi fell on the ground.
She reached her locker in and pulled out the books she will need for her first period which was history. She had twenty minutes to spare before the first bell rang but since she had no friends to talk to, she took slow strides to class.
Serabi was usually the first to arrive in all her classes, aside from the teachers that sat at their desk waiting on a full class.
She hadn't expected anyone to be in class, let alone Ashton Wave. Her eyes lingered on him for a little too long, maybe trying to see if he was truly sitting there. His head snapped up like he could feel the pair of eyes that lingered on him. Meeting his eyes, Serabi averts her gaze, greets the teacher and takes her seat at the front row of the class.
The class soon commenced when all the other senior year students started to file in and take up the empty seats.
When the second bell rang, Serabi stuffed her books in haste and ran out the class, not wanting to give Ashton a chance to speak to her.
