What Moonlight Reveals
"Would it be remotely possible for me, I mean us, to go outside now?" The day had been spent in the study of the mansion for the most part, due to your freak out over some of Dio's minions when you had met them at breakfast. They made you feel extremely uncomfortable, especially the weird little dog-human hybrid one. It made it worse since you were the only one who really needed actual food instead of blood. So everyone just ended up staring at you and got shivers down your neck the whole time. Though you knew they wouldn't do anything as long as you stuck besides Dio. And as much as you were enjoying the feeling of being at peace and brushing up on some knowledge of the world that was contained in the bookcases of the study, it was quickly getting agonizing boring for you.
"As I told you before we can go outside at night." Dio answered without looking at you. "Eh? But it'll be forever until it's night." You groaned and laid yourself out on the chair, legs and arms dangling off the sides, and placed the book on your face.
"It's only a few hours away (Y/N)."
"So long..." Dio sighed at your childlike behavior and continued on with his reading. It seemed as though that was all he did every time you hung out with each other, well other than constantly tease you. "Shouldn't you...oh I don't know be making those scary plans to try to defeat my best friend right about now?"
"Already done." You removed the book from your face and glared at him. "Bastard." You whispered.
"What was that?"
"Nothing oh humble and wise one." You moved your eyes back to the page you had left off on and put your hand on your cheek to support your head. On the page was an illustration of what the author of the book had believed the fictional vampires had looked like. Oh, if only he knew. You took in the details of the image and then looked up at Dio. "Are you sure your suppose to be one of these things?" You looked back at the drawing. "A vampire..." The damn alleged mythological being...if only they truly had stayed a mythical being.
"What am I too dazzling to live up to the standard vampire?" Dio retorted.
"Well I mean you don't sparkle in the sunlight."
"Would you have preferred that?" He mused.
"Nah." You lazily replied.
A comfortable silence followed after the conversation, but you just couldn't get one thing off of your mind. "I really don't know how to categorize you."
Dio put his book down, suddenly interested in communicating. "Why do you need to put a label on me?"
"I don't mean trying to label you as one specific thing, since it's pretty obvious you have many different sides to you. I mean as a whole. I don't fully understand you or your motives. I don't know if I should even be here or try to escape." You tried to explain.
"There's generally only certain sides someone would allow certain people to see. Sometime one might view someone to be their heart and soul and think they can't do anything wrong. While someone else might view that person to be their own personal hell. It's hard to really say which one is the right description for that person now isn't it?" Dio commented.
"True, guess it is hard to really understand someone altogether." You agreed.
Dio nodded. "Though since I've transcended humanity those things don't apply to me."
"You truly just like to make things harder on yourself and for others don't you?" You retorted. Dio smiled. "I'm pretty sure you already understand me better than you think."
He lifted himself off of the chair he was in and moved to stand beside you. He patted your hair and bent down to give you a light kiss on the forehead before walking to the door. "Now come let's go get you dinner."
The full moon shown brightly on the balcony that connected to Dio's room. It seemed to reflect off the balcony giving it it's own light. The stars were all lined out visibly in the night sky, but their light didn't compare to the moonshine. Barely a noise could be heard from the height giving it the perfect setting.
"I always forget how great it is to just look up at the sky at night. It's not very often you get to enjoy moments like this." You commented with a light smile on your face. Dio hummed in agreement. "We use to do this quite often back at the Joestar manor." You let out a laugh. "Yeah and I remember us accidentally getting locked outside that one night."
"Can I ask you another thing that I've always wondered?" Dio let out a sigh. "Trying to understand my charisma again?" You shook your head. "No this one is a bit more serious." You paused. "And I'm not sure if you'll be mad at me or not for asking." Dio titled his head to the side slightly intrigued. "Shoot away."
"Why did you never change your last name to Joestar? I mean you hated your father, so why would you stick with having his last name. I'm sure Mr. Joestar would have adopted you without a doubt."
Dio seemed a bit lost and shocked by the question that was asked. His head moved from your direction and he redirected his gaze to the moon.
'Maybe I was a lot better off not asking that question....'
"As much as I hate being a Brando I can't be anything else. I'm not a Joestar and I never fully can be." He concluded.
You were a bit lost in how to respond to his heartfelt answer. "Sorry I brought it up." Dio looked back at you and smirked. "Don't be. It's nice to know you care enough to ask me. To be honest you remind me a bit of my mother." Now it was your turn to be confused. Dio barely brought up his mother, but you could tell he did care for her. Maybe if she was still around all of this wouldn't have happened. "She was the only one who cared for me as a child. It's almost as though your carrying the torch for her now. You've cared for me, even though you may deny it, this whole time." You couldn't help but blush a bit at what he had said. "Well I guess that you prove that some monsters are lovable after all." You shyly commented which made Dio laugh.
"Guess you'll be marrying a monster then huh?" He joked. You narrowed your eyes at him. "Excuse me? You must have really lost your mind huh?" You countered. "Too bad that your best friend won't be able to attend." Dio retaliated.
'Can someone please tell me why did I ever care for this boy?'
"You know I truly do fear for the world if you do end up living forever like those myths say." Dio smirked at that. "You should, very much so. But for now I'd worry more about yourself. You do know what position the two off us are in now alone and on the balcony connected to my room? We're practically connected by that so called string of fate with how often stuff like this happens. One of these days I'll make you fully mine."
"Not today?"
"You think your ready for it all?"
"Maybe...probably....no?"
Dio let out a soft laugh at your reaction and ruffled your hair. "Don't worry one day it'll all make sense and feel right." He paused. "I'd rather wait a bit anyways. I want our heir to but not this soon, though I know with you nourishing him he will prevail once I'm done."
'How did the conversation change to this so fast? My heart isn't safe right now.'
Your cheeks were no doubt extremely red at this point. 'I can't believe he's even thought about this.'
"Wait a second heir to what?
Dio paused for a moment. "Your family's fortune. The Joestar's fortune. London, hell all of England. No that's not enough for me. It'll be heir to the world." You looked at him speechless. Dio truly was ambitious. "Of course after I'm done ruling he'll be able to, but that will be centuries away."
You put your hand on your head not fully believing everything that was being talked about. 'This guy I swear...'
"Truly terrifying." You whispered.
"I try to be." Dio grinned.
*Hey hope you all enjoyed the update! Before you leave I have a quick question; would you guys want a lemon chapter or not? I've been debating it since a couple chapters ago, but I feel a bit awkward just springing it up out of nowhere especially in case you guys might not want it. And I wasn't sure if I could write one, but I'm willing to try! If you do just leave a comment and I'll try to add it in probably the next chapter? Dunno yet. Anyways hope you all have a wonderful day!~*
