Everyone except for Jonathan had their eyes trained on the now shattered window.
"Dio..." It looks as though every doubt you had about him had been right. All you needed was for a stranger to look into the situation to see what the truth behind it all was. Speedwagon had done just that, opening everyone's eyes to the true persona behind Dio.
George Joestar used his last few breaths to talk to his son. You had gone over with Speedwagon and the chief of the police next to the window. You removed your eyes hesitantly from the body of the one you had somehow come to love throughout the past years, and it was only at this moment you truly, undoubtedly admitted the feeling. Falling for Dio was a guaranteed grief trip, and you couldn't help but being ashamed for even allowing yourself to fall under his charms. While you were loathing in self pity and feeling your heart being ripped apart at your current circumstance the chief was explaining to Speedwagon of how he should have sent Dio's father to an island prison so that George would have never made the deal to look after Dio when the time would come.
"Stay with me father." Jonathan's words snapped you out of your daze. You turned your back on the window and watched the sad scene play out. "The doctors will save you." Jonathan hoped. But the wound was a fatal one that even if there were any doctors close enough they would have to struggle to mend it.
"Jojo please don't blame Dio. The responsibility lies with me, I held you to a different standard because you are my flesh and blood, and I'm sure that made Dio feel as though I was unfair. The fault must have been mine." You clenched your fist as George spoke, you and everyone else in the room surely knew that Dio hadn't felt that way and had just taken advantage of his hospitality. Tears began to well up in your eyes, George had always been a good man, never fully blaming anyone for anything and trying to find the good in people. He had been like a second father to you.
Your father placed his hand on your shoulder in comfort, you looked to him to see tears starting to form in his eyes as well, since George was his dearest friend it was hard to see him go. He had so much to say to George, but kept his feelings aside so that George and Jonathan could have their last few moments together.
"Please bury him next to his father." George continued saying his wishes to Jonathan.
"Father..." Jonathan grabbed ahold of George's hand that was on his cheek.
"Jojo...it's not so bad to die in the arms of your own son." At those words George had passed on. Lightning once again struck near the mansion.
"What a tragedy, his kindness was the end of him." The chief stated in disbelief.
"No!" Speedwagon pointed at Jonathan. "Sir Joestar passed his noble spirit on to Jonathan!" By this time Jonathan, your father, and you were crying. "It is his unwavering will, his pride, and his future. I normally despise blubbering blue bloods, but this father and son are different." Speedwagon closed his eyes as tears fell down. You had just met Speedwagon so you weren't too sure about what to think of him, but he seemed like a guy who would be there for Jonathan until the end. "They're the best spoon fed blokes I know." He let out a small smile and glanced at you, which you couldn't help but to return. Speedwagon turned away from the scene and looked back towards the window.
"T-the body!" You whipped around to see that Dio's body was indeed gone, all that was left was the stone mask and pieces of the broken window on the ground.
"Get away from the window!" Speedwagon warned running towards Jonathan. You and your father followed in pursuit. The warning didn't reach the chief in time as a hand cut through his skull slicing it in two. Another lightning bolt struck adding to the suspenseful mood and a soft "wryyyy" sounded from the top of the window sill.
You couldn't believe your eyes as the man who was believed to be dead posed on the window frame.
"H-he's alive?! How?! We filled him with bullets?" Speedwagon took the words right out of your mouth.
"He could be armed be careful!" One of the police exclaimed as Dio moved into the room.
Jonathan had laid down his father when the commotion started. "I-it can't be!"
As you stood between Speedwagon and the rest of the police force Dio made gut piercing eye contact with you. He began to walk towards you which made you take a step back behind Speedwagon.
"What are you waiting for? Shoot!" Speedwagon shouted at the quivering police.
"W-wait if bullets didn't work the first time what makes you think they'd work now?" Your question went unheard as Jonathan grabbed a gun from one of the policemen and pointed it straight at Dio.
"Dio stop right there!" Dio smirked at Jonathan's attempt and continued walking, completely ignoring him.
"Hurry up and pull the trigger Jojo!" Speedwagon shouted.
The shot landed on the left side of Dio's forehead, but it wasn't Jonathan that had pulled the trigger. Jonathan had begun shaking and Speedwagon knew that he wouldn't be able to shoot so he had taken the shot.
Dio continued walking as though nothing had happened and brought his hand to the hole that the bullet had left on his head. Blood was dripping down the side of his face and his fingers were now stained red. He brought the two fingers to his lips and licked them.
"I don't understand how is he not dead? This can't be happening..." Speedwagon panicked.
Dio finally spoke. "Jojo." Dio jumped up getting ready to lunge at someone. "This marvelous power comes from the mask and your father's blood." He then stuck two fingers in one policeman and drained his blood.
"Dio what have you become? You're a monster!" Jonathan shouted. Dio threw the lifeless body of the policeman that was now in pieces at his comrade with such force that Speedwagon got hit as well.
"Mr. Speedwagon!" You rushed to his side in concern kneeling beside him. Speedwagon bowed over and grunted in pain. Jonathan was shaking not wanting to believe everything that had happened. Your father took that moment and stood in front of you and Speedwagon and placed a hand on Jonathan's shoulder. "Be strong Jojo." While George had been like a father to you, your father was also like a father to Jonathan. He always had a way to comfort someone no matter the circumstance. Jonathan looked over towards George and then back at Dio, finally regaining his posture.
"Stop Jojo! You don't stand a chance I've never seen anyone as power as this monster." Speedwagon tried to stop Jonathan as he picked up a spear that one of the armor displays in the mansion held. You knew in that moment that Jonathan had made up his mind, he would risk his life to take Dio down.
"You're right Speedwagon, I can feel the pangs of fear. But I can't let you, Dio, go on like this. It's my fault I'll finish him!" You closed your eyes at his words, even though you knew it would end up like this you still didn't want to see the outcome. You raised your trembling hand over your heart, feeling the fast beats, like Jonathan said everyone was feeling fear, this was the kind of thing that only happened in fiction and yet here you were facing a seemingly undefeatable beast. You took in a deep breath and reopened your eyes. Jonathan held the spear up to Dio who was somehow standing on the ceiling.
"Jonathan stop, he'll murder you!" Speedwagon pleaded. Jonathan continued to glare Dio down. You opened your mouth to say something, but then the dead policeman moved. "The bodies I want the warm blood!" It despicably said as it moved towards Speedwagon. Without thinking you quickly kicked the zombie like man in the face before he could lay a hand on Speedwagon. For once you were grateful that your mother had bought you high heels. The heel was lodged into his face, but it wasn't quite enough to take him down. Jonathan then used the the spear and cut the zombie.
"He's still my brother...father lend me your strength. I must be strong for Dio is no longer human. He's a demon." Jonathan voiced.
"Jojo!" "Watch out!" Speedwagon and you both shouted at the same time as Dio made his move downwards towards Jonathan.
"I can't let him take another life!" Jonathan shouted as he moved the spear towards Dio. It sliced through his hand, but Dio held onto the spear nonetheless.
"The head wound from the bullet is gone. He's immortal!" Speedwagon commented making Dio smirk again.
Jonathan was struggling holding his own against Dio. "Pathetic weakling!" Dio insulted. He bent the metal spear making the tip go into Jonathan's shoulder. "Jojo, allow me to enjoy my powers a bit longer. Even I don't know the extent of my gift." At that moment your father took the sword off of the other armored statue and dashed for Dio.
"Father no!" But it was too late for Dio swiftly took the sword and lodged it through his heart. "Tsk, too bad I was actually going to let you live for your daughter and I's wedding."
You could feel the tears coming back, but had little time to react as Jonathan grabbed both Speedwagon and you.
"Jojo what are you doing?" Speedwagon asked.
"Don't worry I have a plan." Jonathan said as he rushed behind the curtains. "I'm sorry (YN) I can't be much of a comfort right now, we have to get out." You simply nodded as Jonathan grabbed an oil lamp and handed it to Speedwagon. "On my count light the curtain with that lamp." Jonathan whispered. You could hear Dio walk towards you as he saw some of Jonathan's blood near the curtains. "Hiding? I told you Jojo, human scheming has it's limits. Your struggle is useless. Hiding behind the curtain is pathetic."
"Now." Jonathan whispered. Speedwagon lit the curtain as Dio moved it. The whole curtain lit on fire and tumbled over Dio.
"This is no scheme. It's courage!" Jonathan stated with his arms wrapped around you and Speedwagon.
Dio lunged up, on fire, and you could see his wounds healing.
"This fire isn't enough." Jonathan stated. As Dio went to attack again Jonathan pushed you and Speedwagon away from danger.
"You guys need to leave this no longer involves either of you."
"Jojo..." You breathed. "What are you talking about of course this does!" You yelled at him, slightly angry at him for saying something like that.
Jonathan ignored you and grabbed a sword sticking it into the ground, so that when Dio lunged at him he stepped on it allowing him to go up to the second floor and dodge the attack.
"You can't go up! The fire is spreading!" Speedwagon warned Jonathan. You two watched in concern and slight awe as Jonathan motioned for Dio to follow him. "Rise Dio!"
Dio's shirt turns to ashes as he goes to meet Jonathan. "Dio your power ends here!"
"Mr. Joestar don't!" You agreed with Speedwagon, you didn't want to see your best friend get hurt, or worse die by the hands of Dio, but the fire was getting bad on the first floor forcing Speedwagon and you out.
The two of you were pushed against the water fountain in the front of the house. You cringed in pain as your back was once again thrown forcefully against stone. "Are you okay (YN)?" Speedwagon asked. "Y-yeah, I'm more concerned about those two." You achingly replied. Both of your eyes went back towards the house.
"What is he doing?" Speedwagon questioned, helping you up from the ground. "No!" Speedwagon's eye widened in realization. "He can't be!" You could barely make out Jonathan's figure on the rooftop.
"He's trying to make the fire burn as hot as possible." You furrowed your eyebrows confused at what Speedwagon was leading at. "If the fire burns Dio faster than he can regenerate he'll die."
You saw Jonathan then lunge at Dio pushing him back into the house. Both Speedwagon and you yelled at him to stop. You raced back inside not listening to Speedwagon's cries for you to stay back.
You could barely see with all the smoke in the air, which also made it hard to breath. You were always told that sometimes smoke made the fire ten times worse, but you never truly experienced it until now. "Jojo?!" You barely yelled, coughing a few times. "Jojo?!" When you didn't get a reply that time you decided to go for the worse.
"Dio?!"
You heard a loud "WRYYYYY" from above and could barely make the outline of the two falling. Somehow the scene seemed familiar to you, especially once you realized what they would land on, the Joestar manor's guardian deity. "No wait!" You called out, but it was too late as one of the bodies hit the guardian statue, the top of it piercing through their stomach. An ear screeching scream sounded with a yell of "Jojo!"
It was almost like the one dream you had years ago that you wanted to forget.
