"Woes and joys in a memoir of you,
Immortalized in shades of blue."
These two lines, taken from the first version of my poem Blue Ink, mirror both the manner I write my feelings down, as well as the concept of this book. I believe everyone has a reason as to why they write. Others write to share their stories, while some use it as an outlet to express their imagination. For me, it has always been about finding a way to preserve all of my thoughts, feelings and memories in a such a manner that I could look back to them in the future, and writing has always been the best and most comfortable way for me to do so.
A Memoir of You is an assortment of prose and poetry that I have written through the years. These vary from free verse, rhymed, to an occasional haiku—from short instapoems to long paragraphs of prose.
I've always been shy and hesitant to show my words for everyone to see, but I figured that it's about time that I go for it and take this step towards being braver. If there's one thing I have learned during the quarantine, it's that I should continue doing what I love without giving a damn to what others have to say.
I hope you enjoy reading A Memoir of You.
