Honesty is not tantamount to kindness all the time. 

The truth is often like a knife. Sharp, dangerous, and lethal to those who do not know how to wield it properly. Regardless of whether this truth is presented with hurtful intent, or merely out of necessity, it remains a weapon lying in wait. One moment it is harmless, and the next thing you'll feel is a stab wound on your chest.

There are certain times when we do not owe people the reality they already know – instead, it is best to give them the comfort that their heart is silently screaming for. 

Oftentimes, truth hurts. 

So be careful with your words.
