here are some tips/helpful notes for aspiring authors:

- write ALL your ideas down
a lot of the time, people will get ideas and forget them. to prevent this, keep somewhere special (notes app, paper, etc.) for all of your ideas. even if they rent that good WRITE THEM DOWN; you can always tweak them

- check wattpad!!!!
this is probably one of the more important steps. when you have a few ideas listed, take some key words and search them in wattpad (example: for 'mutuals' i searched "yoonmin online friends") to make sure no one has the same plot already! you dont want it to seem like you copied someone. plus, you want your story to be unique; thats what attracts more readers.

- always plan ahead
once youve chosen a main topic, write the plot out. when i do this i use the form on a plot diagram (example below). it really helps. the more work you put into this, the easier your writing will be.

here is mine for 'mutuals' since i obviously cant show the 'a meme a day one'. obviously some of the details were changed or didnt happen but i felt they werent needed. basically you sketch a mountain and write the major parts of the plot along the lines going from beginning to end.
parts:
exposition: beginning/opening
rising action: mini conflicts/events leading up to the big one
climax: towards the end; the bigger event or conflict; a turning point
falling action: leading to the end
resolution: ending
of course there are also online lessons to help you make one if you are confused.

- write ahead
this is the worst one for me hands down. when you've figured out your plot and whatnot, write your whole fic BEFORE you publish. this will make it so much less stressful when you publish. this way, you wont have to worry about not having your next chapter written for people that are expecting one.

- be nice!
as an author, i love when people message me and comment. for everyone, i suggest if someone comments, try your hardest to comment back or answer them. this can get hard when theres lots of them, but do what you can instead of ignoring them all.

- communication is key
another thing thats helpful is addressing the readers publicly. if you reach 1k reads, thats because of them, so thank them!

- make friends
sometimes, writing on wattpad can be hard. its good to have another writer that you can trust give input and feedback on your stories before you publish them.

- aesthetic = attraction
when all of your cover photos are similar/match, its appealing to the readers. i know this through experience. it also helps when your fics have simliar format. (for example, in all of my books, the first part is always 'zero' with a one sentence quick summary and a picture - that is short in length - under. see below)

when you read fanfics, dont you hate it when the authors dont explain anything? not even the setting? dont be that author! describe the scene, remember: this is writing, not a movie! the reader may not be able to picture everything as good as you can!
