Cheating - Short 10 ⭐
A.N: Heads up, some shorts in the future will be alternate universes of AMWY where I change things up LOOL (like if I actually went through with the idea of killing Kaito, I almost did it). Those shorts won't have stars on them. Looks like I didn't keep my promise last chapter, the short didn't come out. My teacher did assign a ton of work. Woohoo!
Saihara and Akamatsu were talking alone during lunchtime, enjoying their time together. Momota and Harukawa were out eating somewhere else while Iruma, Oma, and Keebo (actually, Keebo was forcefully dragged) went outside to do something else together. They shared a few laughs and were having fun just talking to each other. Even during the little times like this, they were happy.
"Saihara..." Shirogane put a hand on his shoulder making him wince up, interrupting his conversation with Akamatsu.
"Y-Yes...?" he replied, turning around to face her. Akamatsu pouted at the sudden disturbance in their conversation but decided not to mind because it was Shirogane, her friend.
"Remember our promise?" her glasses were faded out as she pushed them up. Saihara's face paled as he gulped, but he nodded as he understood. Shirogane had an overjoyed expression as she nodded to him and walked away.
"What was that about?" Akamatsu asked, pointing a fork towards the boy.
"A-Ah, nothing!" he quickly explained, making Akamatsu pout in response.
"Well... Okay!" she hummed as she popped a piece of chicken in her mouth. "Wow, this is good. You wanna try?"
"Yea, sure." Saihara leaned forward in his chair and opened his mouth as Akamatsu popped the piece of meat in it. "Wow, it is really good."
"Right? My grandma made it." she smiled proudly to herself as if she was the one who made it. Saihara chuckled in response as he picked up his own piece.
He held it up in front of Akamatsu's face with a smile. "Say 'ahh'."
She happily obliged, opening her mouth and-
Shirogane ate the piece out of his fork.
"Uh." Saihara and Akamatsu had a neutral face as Shirogane delicately chewed the meat.
"Don't forget, Saihara..." she ominously said, disappearing behind the door. They almost turned their heads back to each other until her head popped from the doorframe, "Also sorry for that, it was just for dramatic effect to make sure you got my point. Kinda realized how weird it was now, sorry."
"Shuichi, what does she want you to do so badly?" Akamatsu tilted her head. In response, he cringed.
"I... can't tell you."
"Why?"
"It's just... a secret. Also, it's not that important. Trust me." he smiled. Although still a little suspicious, Akamatsu nodded her head.
...
"Shuichi, let's walk home together!" Akamatsu exclaimed as she latched onto her boyfriend's arm, making his face flare up in embarrassment. There were still people around...
"Ah, I actually can't..." Akamatsu frowned in response but she understood, he knew he had to be busy at least sometimes. "I'll text you when I get home though!"
"Okay!" she replies with a bright smile. As soon as Akamatsu walked far enough distance, Shirogane appeared behind him with an excited smile.
"Hey, Saihara. Let's go!" she exclaimed.
"...Okay." he sighed as he walked off with her, Shirogane throwing her hands up and down as she walked in excitement, Saihara awkwardly treading behind.
...
The next day went the same for Akamatsu. Shirogane interrupted their lunch weirdly and Saihara left suddenly after school. It's not that it was a problem, it's that he wasn't telling the girl anything about going on. She felt the two common incidents happening were somehow related but couldn't piece it together. What was happening? She kicked a rock to her ignorance in the situation, pouting at the same time.
On her way home, Akamatsu looks behind her and sees a familiar girl walking.
"Oh, Harukawa! Hey!" Akamatsu immediately stopped walking to talk to her friend.
"Oh, hey Akamatsu." Harukawa furrowed her brow as she stopped to talk as well. "You're not with Saihara?"
"I'm not just Shuichi's girlfriend, jeez," she sighed. "Why?"
"Oh, no... It's just I saw him with another girl out of school and I thought it was you." she explained casually but tensed up as Akamatsu put a hand on her shoulder. Her hair covered her eyes but Harukawa could feel the bloodlust.
"What...?"
"I mean, it could be his sister." she says, grabbing onto Akamatsu's wrist that wouldn't budge.
"He doesn't have any sisters." she quickly retorts. Harukawa has never seen this side of Akamatsu before. She wasn't one to be afraid but...
This scared her.
"Well... Maybe you can investigate? Maybe it's not what you think it is." Akamatsu's glare disappears as Harukawa gets freed from her grasp. She sighed in relief. She didn't even think Saihara had the guts to do anything without Akamatsu but she was a little curious of what was going on.
"Like a detective!" Akamatsu's cheery personality returns. Harukawa has a sigh of relief as she tries to walk away but she stretched an arm at her to pull her back. "Help me out!"
"Why do I have to come?"
"Please?"
"...Fine." she huffed as she was dragged by the pianist. "Only because I know you'll keep bugging me about it."
Akamatsu smiled at her friend's helpfulness (though she kinda forced her to). "Which direction did they go?" she asked as she tilted their head.
"You know... This is really creepy." she grimaced. "It's probably not that serious."
"I can't help but be curious, okay?" she kicked her foot against the sidewalk with a blush.
"Eh, I get it. I'd be curious too. If it were Kaito..." she muttered to herself but instantly got angry imagining the scene of Momota hanging out with another girl privately. She sighed as she leads Akamatsu on, "Fine. Let's go, I remember what direction they went."
"Okay!" Akamatsu exclaimed as they walked to their destination. "How couldn't you tell it was me but knew their direction by the way?"
"I wasn't paying that close attention, okay?' she rolls her eyes. "It's not my responsibility."
"Fair, fair." she closed her eyes, nodding quickly. "Let's go!" She prepared to run but then tripped on a crack in the sidewalk.
"Ah." she slowly descended onto the floor.
As she fell, Harukawa caught her by the arm. Her face flushed in embarrassment as Harukawa looked at her with pity.
...
"Oh, hey. Found them." Harukawa pointed out, putting her hand above her eyes to get a clear view.
"Really?" Akamatsu asked, they had been walking in the same direction for a bit, it didn't take long to find them at all.
"Yea, they're going to the shopping center. Interesting." she then caught sight of a certain cosplayer going with the detective, "Hey... Isn't that Shirogane?"
"Huh?" Akamatsu looked closer and noticed the familiar lock of blue hair. "You're right... What are the two of them doing?"
"Well, I trust Shirogane. I don't think she'd do anything bad like try to steal Saihara away from you. Didn't she say she prefers 2D anyways?"
"I thought that was a bad joke." she stifled a laugh. "But, Shirogane was acting weird during lunch with us... And Shuichi didn't want to tell me where he was going when he left."
"Weird." Harukawa mused, putting a finger to her cheek as she continued to look at Saihara. "Put these on." she threw a beanie and sunglasses at Akamatsu, she yelped in surprise as she barely caught them.
"Why do you have these?"
"Style." she pointed fingerguns at her with a blank expression. Akamatsu giggled as she put on the disguise. "I don't have my own pair but I'd say I'm pretty talented at stealth."
"Huh?" Akamatsu questioned. "Why- Oh."
"Yea." the assassin slurred her speech.
"Oh yea..." she gently laughed to herself. "Sorry."
She shrugged as the two moved into the clothing shop the two entered.
"I'm so excited for later!" Shirogane exclaimed, clapping her hands together.
"Not so loud..." Saihara muttered. "We can't tell anyone about this."
"Why not?" she teased. "There's no shame."
"Yes there is..." he hung his shoulders in embarrassment.
"Well, whatever." the cosplayer sighed, shaking her head. "You'll learn to enjoy it soon enough where you'll practically be begging for more!"
What the hell?!
The two had the same thought. Harukawa glared at Shirogane as Akamatsu couldn't do anything but stare in shock. Could Saihara actually be... cheating on her? She couldn't believe it, she didn't want to believe it. Her friend instantly noticed her distress and went out of hiding to comfort her.
"I don't think he would... And if he did, I'll kill him." she gave a straight face with a thumbs up. Harukawa wanted to comfort her friend and gave her best attempt to do so.
"That doesn't help me!" she groaned.
It didn't work.
"Saihara, come here." Shirogane spoke rather loudly as Harukawa went back into hiding. There wasn't a great place to hide so she just went behind a bookshelf and hopefully bystanders wouldn't think she's too suspicious.
Although, she was getting some questionable looks as she peaked around the shelves.
"What is it..?" he scratched the back of his head as he walked up to Shirogane.
"You think this would look good?" she held up a crop top.
"What the heck, no!" he quickly retorted.
"Gotcha, not into that." she noted as she put it away.
"It's not like it matters anyway... You're not gonna see me with it on." he mutters.
Akamatsu and Harukawa, although away from each other, tensed up in perfect unison. Was Saihara really doing this?
...
After investigating Saihara and Shirogane's antics, the "couple" walked out with bags in the cosplayer's hand. It was just a bunch of clothes and cloth, what were they thinking of doing? Some kind of kinky roleplay? It would befit Shirogane but it was unthinkable that she would do it with Saihara; he already had a girlfriend after all.
They followed behind, hiding behind random bushes as the two "cheaters" walked towards a house. They saw as they entered the one-story building and close the door behind them. Akamatsu's mouth gaped open. "Now we don't know where they are..."
Harukawa sighed as she approached the house. The pianist tensed up in fear of what she was gonna do. "D-Don't do anything brash!"
"I'm not." she sighed. "Just getting a peek." she casually slips through an open window, careful not to make any noise.
"That is not a peek!" Akamatsu yelled out in fear as she ran towards the opened window. Unfortunately, she tripped on nothing and fell in as well. Harukawa winced in surprise as she heard a thud come from behind her.
"Idiot, why'd you come too?!" she yelled in annoyance.
"It was an accident!"
"How do you accidentally break and enter!?"
Their quiet whispers were interrupted as they heard footsteps coming through. Akamatsu looked back to jump out the window but Harukawa grabbed her hand and took her to a random room.
"What are you doing!?" she squealed as they entered a bathroom.
"Come on, Saihara!" Shirogane said in a singsong tune. "In my room. I have all the stuff there."
"Yea, yea." they heard him mutter followed by a door closing.
"...Can we leave now?" Akamatsu shivered in fear. "What if we get caught?"
"Relax, we can say we were doing a surprise." Harukawa shrugged. "Gifting
"... Sunglasses?" she looked to the ceiling as she put a finger on her chin.
"Nobody wants that and we wouldn't break and enter for something like that!" she seethed in response.
The two opened the door quietly as they peeked through the crack. They needed to get out of there as soon as possible before someone caught them.
"You go." Harukawa pointed to the window with a whisper. "I'll stay and tell you if stuff goes wrong."
"If you're staying, I'm staying." she responded with a look of defiance. There's no budging her... Harukawa groaned.
"Why do you have to be so stubborn now? I'm figuring out if your boyfriend is cheating or not."
Akamatsu looked to the ground in sadness. "If he is... I wanna see it for myself. If you were to tell me, I don't think I'd believe you."
The assassin looked at her sympathetically for a moment before clicking her tongue. "Fine."
"Yes!" she cheered but quickly covered her mouth.
"Quiet!" she seethed. "Also, why are you so excited about this...? It'd be pretty bad if he was actually cheating."
"I believe in Shuichi." Akamatsu quickly said.
"Then why are we even here...?"
"I'm curious of what it is. He's not telling me, so." she smiled mischievously, crossing her arms.
"One nosy girlfriend." Harukawa muttered to her as she opened the door. With quick speed, she put an ear to the door Saihara and Shirogane were in.
"Impressive." Akamatsu whispered, still in the bathroom. She gave a comforting thumbs up as that was all she could do right now. Harukawa focused on the conversation the two were having.
"Okay Saihara... Take it all off!" Shirogane yelled in excitement.
"R-Right now?! So quick?! I'm not ready..." he stuttered. Harukawa instantly grimaced as she looked back at Akamatsu. She tilted her head in confusion as the assassin gave her a questionable look. "W-Wait, stop approaching me with that look!"
"What happened?" she mouthed.
"Let's go." Harukawa mouthed back, pointing her thumb to the window. She placed a leg over the window to leave quickly. She would have to comfort the pianist later... She sighed as she pulled out her wallet, maybe they could go out for some food. She'll explain it when they leave.
Akamatsu put an ear to the door to hear what was going on.
"Shirogane, calm down! You're gonna rip my clothes!"
"It's fine... After what happens next, you'll enter the new world of-!"
She opened the door with one swift movement. Harukawa's jaw dropped as she heard the loud bang of the door opening. "You idiot!"
"...Huh?" the pianist looked in confusion at the situation in front of them.
"...cosplaying." Shirogane continued her sentence as she stared at the pianist. Harukawa peeked her head through as well. There was an outfit laying on the bed next to him with multiple cloth scrappings and string spread across the room.
...
"Ah... So you got the wrong impression." Shirogane put a hand to her cheek as the two of them stood at the doorway. She explained the situation to them that they were simply cosplaying. "Don't worry, I wouldn't do something to ruin my favorite IRL OTP." she gave a comforting smile.
"Ah, thank god! I had a feeling that was the case." she smiled as she dropped the object in her hand. "I'm glad I don't have to use this after all!" she dropped it on the ground to make a loud thud spread across the room.
"Where did you get that?!" she spat in fear, her face paling.
"I'm more surprised you didn't care about us breaking and entering." Harukawa mused, putting her hand up.
Saihara guiltily put his hands on his knees, hanging his head.
Akamatsu faced him with a confused look. "Why didn't you just tell me."
"...Because it's kinda embarrassing." he muttered, a blush appearing on his pale face.
"What?"
"I'll tell the story of what happened!" Shirogane announced as she coughed into her fist.
A few days earlier...
Saihara was in a supermarket, checking out some manga. He put his hands on his pockets as he browsed the shelves. Nothing really caught his eye as he yawned. Of course, like any other teenager, he enjoyed reading manga. Maybe not as much others did, but it still piqued his interest. "Hm?" he raised an eyebrow as he set his eyes on a familiar character on the front of a book. "Woah!" he instantly picked it up and admired the cover.
Kanata the White!
He remembered watching this all the time when he was a kid. His uncle had to forcibly shut it down at times and he would yell out quotes from the show. He cringed remembering how big of a nerd he was for that anime, but they were happy moments. It was definitely nostalgic to see him again. Maybe he would buy it so he could appreciate the story now that he was older.
As he turned to the side, a pair of blue eyes were staring into his soul. He jumped back in surprise (and to not bump into the other person) as he realized who it was. "Shirogane? What are you doing here?"
"Saihara, you like Kanata?"
"Huh?" he hid the manga behind his back. Shirogane gave a smug look indicating she already saw it. Defeated, he presented the manga in front of him. "Yea... I like it." he turned his head to the side with an embarrassed blush.
"What a super coincidence, I love the show too!" She clapped her hands together in excitement. "Oh my god, you should totally cosplay as him!"
"W-What? No!" he quickly disregarded the idea.
"Come on, it'll be fun!" she insisted. "After all, the Saihara clan is the only one with the potential to cosplay as him. "
"What...?" he didn't understand at all what she was saying and it didn't support the idea of cosplaying with her. "Anyways, uh... I'll see you at school, but no thanks for the offer." he turned but Shirogane grabbed his wrist. He looked back with a fraught expression as her lenses whitened.
She was serious about this. He can't say no.
From pure intimidation, words flooded from Saihara's mouth, "Okay, I'll cosplay."
The cosplayer clasped her hands together in satisfaction. "Tomorrow at school, meet me after school."
"W-Why?" he asked.
"I need your measurements." she smiled, imagining the scene in her head of Saihara cosplaying. "I'm so happy to have someone join my crew... Help me become King of the Cosplayers!"
"King? Wouldn't it be queen?"
Shirogane disregarded his words as she got to muttering to herself. "I need fabric... If I get Saihara's measurements tomorrow then I should be able to get the fabric the next day or maybe I could use the ones that I already had, maybe I could recycle an old outfit- actually no that's disrespectful to the cosplay I can't-"
Shirogane kept rambling to herself as Saihara awkwardly bought his manga and got out there.
...
Yea, that's pretty much what happened!" Shirogane smiled contently. "Do you wanna see him in the cosplay?"
"Yea!" Akamatsu pumped her fists.
"K-Kaede?! Th-That's too embarrassing!" he stuttered, his face completely red.
"After confusing me like that, I deserve it." she nodded her head with closed eyes. She wasn't gonna budge on this either.
"So stubborn." Harukawa sighed.
"F-Fine." Saihara groaned as he left the room, taking the outfit with him. Shirogane sighed in happiness.
"Saihara would be perfect to be Kanata the White. He looks just like him!"
"Eh, really?" she put a hand to her cheek in wonder. How different would Saihara look with this outfit on?
"You'll be surprised at how much he looks like him if you compare it to the real thing." she puts a finger up as she explained. Then, she suddenly gave a smug look as she started panting really hard, "And of course, I would have experience with making this cosplay. After all, it was the first cosplay I've ever made!"
"G-Good job." Akamatsu praised the overly excited girl. She huffed in excitement.
A few moments later, Saihara entered the room in a white getup, his hair tied up in a small bun. He had a black bandana on that covered his face. Akamatsu put a hand to her face to cover her smile. "I-I'm Kanata the White..." he raised his hand awkwardly, talking in a slightly moody tone.
"Cute." Akamatsu quickly put her thumbs up.
"You get it, right?!" Shirogane grabbed Akamatsu's hands. "You get the joy of cosplaying now, right?!"
"Maybe!" she smiled at her. She walked up to Saihara and observed the outfit, glancing all over him. She could tell he was blushing but decided not to mention it.
"W-What?" he muttered, looking to the side.
"Just admiring you." she mused, smiling cheerfully.
Saihara looked to the side with a flushed face (even with the mask covering half of his face).
"Let's put more stuff on him!" the pianist suggested with an eager look. Stars were in her eyes.
"Please don't." Saihara begged.
"Let's split the difference and have you both cosplay." Shirogane hopped off the bed and went to her closet at a quick pace. Her glasses faded out her eyes from how serious she was about this.
"Huh?" Akamatsu asked but then as soon as Shirogane opened the closet, she understood. Multiple dresses were in there that she assumed were from fiction were laid out before her. Akamatsu sweated as she tried to back away. "H-Harukawa, I think it's time for us to go."
"Bye now." Harukawa was already at the door, slowly closing the door behind her. Akamatsu tried to get up and leave too, but she was too late as Shirogane brought out the first outfit with a menacing grin.
"O-Okay, Shirogane. I'll cosplay with you another time, but not right now, okay?" she gave a nervous smile. Yet, that didn't stop her from stripping her in 0.2 seconds and putting on an outfit in the next 0.4 seconds.
Akamatsu blinked and she was in a completely different object. "W-What?! How?!"
"Hehehe..." she laughed to herself proudly, putting her hands to her hips. "Don't underestimate the power of the Ultimate Cosplayer." she covered her face as she did a pose.
Saihara was entranced by this new dress on Akamatsu. He didn't know what it was from, but it looked beautiful on her. Before he could react, his outfit was changed as well.
"W-What?!"
"I did say that you'll join the new world of cosplaying, Saihara." she pushed up her glasses. "There is no escape."
The two of them backed into the door as Shirogane approached them. This time, she had a maid suit and a butler outfit in her hands.
...
The couple became Shirogane's dolls for a while. They were finally spared after 1 hour of constant changing before they were finally free to leave. Though... The two of them wouldn't mind seeing the other in cosplay again.
