Now, I ran an apply fic for this book for the horse cast.  I didn't do the character cast because I didn't want to.  Deal with it.  XD

I received about twenty different entries, all of them amazing and wonderful.  As I stated in the apply fic, I will be using all of them.  That's right, all.  Every single photo entered will be used in this book.  

However, I will not be posting all of what horses they will be used for in this chapter.  As horses come up in this book, I will use them.  So, say, I introduce a horse in chapter 8, well then I'll poste the photo of that horse at the end of chapter 8.  This goes for random horses as well.    

So, if your entry/photo isn't put here, you'll have to see where in the book it will be put.  

With all that said, let's meet the main/sub horses in this book!

Also, please note, it was like, really hard to choose the right photo for each horse.    

1st Horse:  Russo, aka The Day It Began.  Chosen entry:  Katniss_Rue_Mellark 

The Day It Began, aka Russo, is a 11 year old gelding who's breed is a cross between warmblood and QH.  He is briefly mentioned in A Challenge as Lacy Beston's (Tessa's best friend) horse, but you never meet him.  He plays a bigger role in A Medallion, which is part of the reason I included him in the apply fic.

2nd Horse:  Shocker, aka Shocker's Dare.  Chosen entry:  Conejumper

Shocker is Tessa's mom's main event horse.  She's a fleabitten dutch warmblood mare who's steady and dependable.  She played a bigger role in A Challenge than she will in A Medallion, but she's still important.

3rd horse:  Rayna, aka Over the Moon.  Chosen entry:  Conejumper/Katniss_Rue_Mellark

(Note:  Conejumper's photo entry was what I wanted, but Katniss_Rue_Mellark's show name was also what I wanted, so I combined the two.)  

Rayna is a client pony mare who's mentioned several times in A Challenge.  Tessa is training her for lower level events for an older client who wants a steady mount.  She's a bay mare who's breed is a New Forest Pony crossed with a Welsh B.

5th horse:  Win, aka Only First.  Chosen entry:  Katniss_Rue_Mellark/Conejumper

(Note: Once again I combined entries, Conejumper had the name, age, and breed, Katniss_Rue_Mellark the photo.)  

Win is Vanessa Ireden's main event horse, he is never mentioned in A Challenge.  He's a 9 year old, 16 hh, chestnut Trakhener descended from awesome show jumping lines.  He's got the potential for upper level eventing, he's currently on Training division.

5th horse:  Colorful, aka Refracted Light.  Chosen entry:  Katniss_Rue_Mellark

Colorful is a 15 year old lesson horse at Star Run Stables.  He got his name because of his unique color pattern.  He's a registered American Paint horse.  You meet him several times in A Challenge.

6th Horse:  Via, aka Living Life Sassy.  Chosen entry: Katniss_Rue_Mellark 

(Note:  This horse was originally listed as 'Name unpicked' in the apply fic, because I didn't have a name for her.  Also, there was only one entry to choose from, which was Katniss_Rue_Mellark's.  Fortunately she came up with a really good one!  I just changed the show name.)  

Via is a current boarder's horse that the owner has decided to sell because of her independent spirit.  Vanessa is working with her to get her sale-worthy.  She's a red roan Trakhener mare, who's 8 years old.

7th horse:  Tab, aka A Moment in Time.  Chosen entry:  spirithorse123/Katniss_Rue_Mellark/Conejumper

(Note:  Yes, I did combine three entries.  Spirithorse123 had the photo, Conejumper the show name, and Katniss_Rue_Mellark the barn name.  I also changed the breed.)  

Tab is a horse that I can't tell you much about because it would ruin the story.  Sorry.  But you'll find out more about him, if you care to read far enough.  He's a 15hh, blue roan mustang.

And here we come to the main character horses, which are Challenger and Medallion, both of them having books named after them.  (They're so special)

First off, Medallion.  Submitted by Katniss_Rue_Mellark/Conejumper.

To be honest, none of the entries had a show name from Medallion that I liked.  I mean, they were good but they didn't seem right.  Therefore, I've decided to let Medallion's name also be her show name, like Challenger's is.  I also crossed the breeds.  

Medallion is the main horse of this book.  She's a Thoroughbred crossed with a Dutch warmblood.  She's 16hh, 7 years old, and is a rare iconic piebald color.

Yes, I know it doesn't match the cover, and no, I don't care.  Pick which photo you like best and roll with it.  I personally liked this one best so this is the way I will be describing her. 

I didn't not ask for entries for Challenger.  From people designing book covers for me, I figured I had enough dark gray photos.  So pick your favorite and imagine him that way for the rest of the story.  

(Yes, the horse on this cover is not a dark gray, but I wanted to include it)
