Til' death do us part...
Lukas' POV
A few seconds later, I open my eyes once again but this time I was standing up and the only thing on my mind was Jesse.
The first thing I saw was; Jess, Petra, Nell and the four eliminated criminals. Because we were all several blocks below the elevated snowy platform, I couldn't see Jesse. I needed to see what was going on. I frantically looked around for someway to get up to a higher area. And I think Otto's spiral staircase will do just fine. It lead to his viewing area! I ran up to it and I was almost there, before someone tightly grabbed my arm. I turned my head to see who it was and, to my surprise, it was Caleb. "I'm sorry sir, you're not allowed to go up there." I stayed silent and gave him an angry glare. Without a word, I ripped my arm from his grasp and began to run up the staircase.
When I did eventually get to the top, I saw Otto sitting in a large lounge chair and a coffee table in front of him with a microphone resting on top of it. The moment he saw me, he was extremely surprised and confused. He definitely wasn't expecting to see me. He thought for a moment, then stood up. He then told me exactly what Caleb said--
Otto: "I'm sorry Lukas, but you're not allowed up here."
As soon as the words were able to escape his lips, my blood began to boil. And I could feel tears quickly form in the corners of my eyes. I then did something that is very unlike me--I snapped at Otto. "My fiancé is down there! And I'm not down there to protect her! I- I'm not...." I choked on my own words, unable to finish my sentence. The tears that I had held back began to fall and stream down my cheeks. I know that if Jesse were here then she would have gently wiped them away. But they continued to fall. I can't lose her... Not now...not ever. I didn't mean to snap at Otto, I'm just so scared. It's not like me to behave like that, but I didn't how else to react. I slowly looked up at Otto and, surprisingly, he kept a straight face. A moment of silence hung in the air before Otto spoke up:
Otto: "Fiancé...?"
I gave him a small, slow nod as I still refused to make eye contact. He looked down down for a second before sighing. He nodded then sat back down in his large lounge chair. I looked up at him with eyes full of gratitude. He continued to watch the games and I turned to the glass to do the same.
Jesse's POV
As I ran towards the robber, I stopped suddenly in my tracks. The sound of TNT haunted my thoughts. I held my breath for a second before turning around to have my worst fears confirmed...I let out a sharp gasp as hot tears weld up in the corners of my eyes.
Lukas laid on the snow several blocks away, clutching his stomach, as blood proceeded to seep through his uniform...
A small stream of blood also flowed from his mouth. He opened his eyes ever so slightly to look at me, his once shining blue eyes were now dull. He opened his mouth to say something but nothing came out before he closed his eyes and dropped his head to the floor...
I was almost there...
But his body puffed into a cloud of smoke...
Tears started to flow down my cheeks uncontrollably. No...no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no! I ran over to nothing but the inventory that hadn't already fallen through the countless holes in the ground, and a small patch of blood that soaked into the snow. I fall on my knees and cry uncontrollably. Though my vision was burry because of the tears, I was able to see a small black box that Lukas had dropped. Wh-what is that? I gently picked it up and I started to cry even harder than before. I didn't need to open the box to know what it was...
